Where is Ohio Stadium in USA TODAY's ranking of best Big Ten stadiums?

USA Today5 days ago
Rankings and lists can be subjective, but we still like to follow them. Cobble a bunch of them together, and if you believe bias is taken out of it all, a consensus should tell you something, right?
You've seen them, we've seen them, and your brother-in-law's cousin-twice removed has seen a ranking of college football stadiums, but now we have a new one that we'll take a little more stock in. That's because it comes from Paul Myerberg with our mother ship at USA TODAY. He took a look at all of the Big Ten stadiums -- 18 now (and maybe counting) -- and ranked them from worst to first when it comes to "nastiest to kindest" for visitors.
As you can imagine, Ohio Stadium, where Ohio State does its best work, gets a lot of love from Myerberg. Sure, the iconic venue and all its historical significance and mystique have something to do with it, but it has more to do with how hard it is to come out of there with a victory. Not only did Myerberg rank the 'Shoe high on the list, he put it all the way at the top of the best stadiums in the Big Ten, at No. 1 overall.
But why?
"Trips to the Horseshoe are basically a guaranteed loss for teams in and out of the Big Ten, unless you're Michigan. (The Wolverines have taken two in a row at home in the series.), wrote Myerberg. "Since the stadium opened in 1922, Ohio State has been dominant at home, including a remarkable 55-3 record (94.9%) since 2016. The Buckeyes have turned the 'Shoe into maybe the most hostile locale in the sport."
It's true that Ohio Stadium is a tough place to play, but it has more to do with the team that resides there than how rabid the fanbase is. Don't get me wrong, I've heard the 'Shoe rocking when it's a big game at night and other times when there's a lot on the line in a close game, but there are times when fans in the "big 'Ole Horseshoe" (said in my best Keith Jackson voice) seem disinterested. Still, the numbers don't lie. It's a tough, tough place to win.
Rounding out the top five on Myerberg's list behind Ohio Stadium is Beaver Stadium (Penn State), Autzen Stadium (Oregon), Michigan Stadium (Michigan), and Husky Stadium (Washington). Yes, you saw that right. Two of the most recent teams to join the Big Ten from the West Coast are considered among the top five.

Nation's No. 1 running back announces commitment date

An elite running back recruit and Georgia Bulldogs recruiting target has announced his commitment date. Five-star RB prospect Savion Hiter will be committing on Aug. 19, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. Hiter will choose among Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee. Hiter is a five-star prospect from the class of 2026. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound freshman plays high school football and track and field for Louisa County High School in Mineral, Virginia. Hiter made the Under-Armour All-American roster, alongside elite recruits such as Georgia freshmen defensive tackle Elijah Griffin and offensive tackle Juan Gaston, as well as Georgia commits Kaiden Prothro (five-star tight end) and Zech Fort (four-star safety). On 247Sports' analysis on Hiter, Andrew Ivins compared Hiter to former North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton. Hiter has no visits scheduled anymore. He took official visits with Ohio State (May 30), Georgia (June 6), Michigan (June 13), and Tennessee (June 20). 247Sports has not released a Crystal Ball prediction for him yet. Georgia currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, with 30 total commits, including two five-stars and 21 four-stars. The Bulldogs earned a commitment from four-star running back Jae Lamar on June 21 already, but Georgia would like to earn multiple running back commits. In the 2025 cycle, the Bulldogs lost Ousmane Kromah on the first day of the early signing period when he flipped to Florida State. Hiter is the nation's No. 1 running back and No. 9 overall prospect from the class of 2026. He'd be the highest ranked commit in Georgia's class, should he choose to play for the Bulldogs. Hiter is the top ranked recruit in Virginia. If Georgia misses out on the five-star RB, then the Bulldogs may look to flip a four-star Wisconsin RB commit.

Texas A&M freshman 5-star WR is looking healthy in latest video

Texas A&M's 2025 wide receiver rotation is built on speed and quickness, which should result in consistent separation in coverage after head coach Mike Elko and his staff landed KC Concepcion (NC State), Mario Craver (Mississippi State), and Jonah Wilson (Houston) from the transfer portal, while 2025 signees TK Norman, Kelshaun Johnson and five-star Jerome Myles represent the future rotation. However, after missing a majority of his senior high school season in Draper, Utah due to a knee injury, Jerome Myles is back and 100% healthy with an eye on contributing at a high level during the 2025 season, bringing his notable size at 6'2" and 220 pounds and speed that fits what Elko and OC Collin Klein are looking for to fill the void left by junior Noah Thomas, who transferred to Georgia this offseason. While many worried that health would be an issue after Myles was the last signee from the 2025 class to make it to campus, that is now in the rearview mirror, meaning getting up to speed with the rest of the wide receiver rotation is key to make an instant impact this fall. In a new video from Myles' Instagram, courtesy of On3/Rivals recruiting insider Jaxson Callaway, the Utah native is already looking the part before fall camp officially begins next week. For someone coming off an ACL injury, Myles is looking like a player with a chance to crack the starting lineup, but will more than likely be the No. 4 option for starting quarterback Marcel Reed once he gets acclimated to the speed of college offenses. Either way, this is a great sign for the Aggies, who know that no matter how long it takes, Jerome Myles is destined for stardom. Notre Dame star RB Jeremiyah Love threw out the first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinals game

Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love was in his home state of Missouri this weekend, and once again was honored by the St. Louis community. As one of the top returning players in college football, Love is no stranger to the spotlight and it was once again on him Friday night as he threw out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinals game. The clip starts off with him catch an over the shoulder 'pass' from the mascot, as he proceeded to the mount for the ceremonial pitch. Love would then have a solid throw, although it wasn't quite a strike, just a bit out of the zone. What's great about the video is it included his commentary during the whole time. You can hear him saying to himself not to screw it up, go back to his teaching and then not being overtly happy with his throw. After leaving the field, he did acknowledge that his toss was better than it bouncing up there. Check out the full video below, as Love joins plenty of other former and current Notre Dame stars to throw out the first pitch at a Major League Baseball game.
