
1 dead, 5 taken to hospital after fiery crash on Gardiner Expressway
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of the expressway near Yonge Street, according to Toronto police. Officers were called to the scene at about 5:40 p.m.
Police said one vehicle in the crash flipped over and caught fire. According to Toronto Fire Services, three vehicles were involved in the crash and all three were ablaze.
The fire has since been put out.
Paramedics said the five taken to hospital had non-life-threatening injuries.
Road closures are in place and motorists should expect delays, police said.
The westbound lanes of Gardiner Expressway have stopped, while the eastbound lanes are down to one lane. Vehicles stuck on the Gardiner are being cleared off through the Yonge Street ramp.
The southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway are shut down at the Richmond Street exit.

Lane closures expected on section of Highway 400 this weekend

Starting on Friday at 10 p.m., Highway 400 will see two lanes closed overnight heading northbound near Innisfil Beach Road to allow for construction on the northbound highway re-alignment. The Ministry of Transportation said the area will see one lane reopen during the day in that same area. All access from Innisfil Beach Road to Highway 400 northbound will be closed during this time with a detour in place. The Ministry stated that all lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday.

Fuel and fertilizer spill over the roadway in Perth County crash

Emergency responders were called to Road 164 around 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The collision involved a tractor trailer and an SUV. During the crash, the tractor trailer rolled onto its side and spilled fuel and fertilizer over the roadway. Road 164 between Line 42 and Line 46 was closed. Police expected the closure to last for several hours. Both drivers were assessed at the crash site and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
