Zetrix upsizes sukuk issuance to RM2bil from RM1bil

New Straits Times19 hours ago
KUALA LUMPUR: Zetrix AI Bhd, formerly known as MyEG Services Bhd, has increased the size of its sukuk Wakalah programme to RM2 billion in nominal value, doubling the original RM1 billion.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Zetrix said the sukuk will primarily support the continued growth of its blockchain and artificial intelligence initiatives.
Zetrix said the lodgement with the Securities Commission (SC) for the upsizing was made on July 8.
The company said the programme carries a perpetual tenure and allows for multiple issuances, provided the total outstanding nominal value does not exceed RM2 billion at any given time.
The sukuk has been rated AA-is with a stable outlook by MARC Ratings Bhd.
Zetrix said the programme also offers flexibility to issue sukuk aligned with Ggeen, social, sustainability and sustainable and responsible investment frameworks established by the SC, the Asean Capital Markets Forum and the International Capital Market Association.
CIMB Investment Bank Bhd and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd are the joint principal advisers, joint lead arrangers and joint sustainability structuring agents for the programme.
CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd serve as joint Shariah advisers.

Only one complaint on minimum wage violation by bus company, says HR Minister

NIBONG TEBAL: The Human Resources Ministry has received only one complaint from a bus driver with regards to a bus company failing to observe the minimum wage of RM1,700 in the first six months of this year. Human Resources Minister Steven Sim stated that they are consistently conducting surveys and inspections to enforce the minimum wage rate. "We urge all employers to comply with the minimum wage rate because this is a law that must be strictly observed. It is not a suggestion or a recommendation, but a rate that has been determined by the government," he said while speaking to the press after launching the MyFutureJobs Career and Entrepreneurship Carnival at a hall in the Seberang Perai prison complex on Thursday (July 10). He mentioned that the Labour Department continuously monitors and carries out inspections to ensure full compliance with the country's labour laws, including the implementation of the minimum wage. Sim was responding to questions about whether the ministry had received reports on bus drivers being paid below the minimum wage. He noted that the ministry received a total of 27 complaints for various reasons from bus companies between last year and June this year (2025), with 19 complaints recorded this year. "The complaints were mainly related to the enforcement of the Employment Act 1955 and salary-related issues. During the same period, we also received 75 claims for labour cases, including 21 this year," he said. It was reported that some bus drivers are forced to rely on travel allowances and overtime, often sacrificing their days off to cover living expenses, with a basic salary as low as RM700 a month, or in some cases, no basic salary at all. The Malaysian Tour Bus Operators Association has refuted claims that full-time tour bus drivers receive a basic salary as low as RM700 a month.

Sabah must start leading in oil and gas: Azis

Published on: Thursday, July 10, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jul 10, 2025 By: Abbey Junior Text Size: Azis (left) also dismissed the claim that working quietly has brought results for Sabah. Masidi (right). Kota Kinabalu: Warisan on Wednesday hit out at Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun for saying the State is not ready to bid for upstream oil and gas projects, calling the statement a reflection of poor political will rather than capacity. Its Information Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman said Sabah can no longer afford to remain on the sidelines while others profit from its resources. 'If we claim we lack expertise, then bring in real experts — not loyalists whose only skills are to plunder and pander,' he said in a statement, Wednesday. He said Sabah must stop relying on sub-contracts and concessions handed out by external parties, and instead take the lead in building its own capacity and control. On Tuesday, Masidi told the State Assembly that state-owned firms Sabah International Petroleum (SIP) and SMJ Energy were not bidding for oil and gas blocks due to a lack of technical know-how and capital. He was responding to Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (Senallang), who had questioned why Sabah firms were left out of the Mutiara Cluster project off Sandakan. The contract was recently awarded to Dialog Resources Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dialog Group Berhad based in Peninsular Malaysia. Azis questioned the rationale behind the State's passive approach and said experience can only come if Sabah starts participating actively. 'Every million starts with one. If we wait forever, we will always be excluded from our own wealth,' he said. He pointed out that the State had previously issued nearly RM1 billion in Sukuk to settle debts, including for vessels that remain unaccounted for. 'So, don't tell us it's impossible to raise funds for SMJ Energy to participate both upstream and downstream,' he said. He added that Sabah can form strategic partnerships with credible investors, provided the State retains control over the management of its natural resources. Azis also dismissed the claim that working quietly has brought results for Sabah. 'Our oil wealth continues to leave Sabah, yet our people see very little of the benefit,' he said. He stressed that the core issue is not Sabah's readiness, but whether its leaders are bold enough to prioritise the State's future over political convenience. 'True leadership isn't about waiting. It's about taking action — and ensuring that Sabah finally gets what it deserves.' * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
