Sir Rod Stewart promises ‘sexy' show for Glastonbury
Sir Rod told the Radio Times that as he has been carrying out a concert residency in Las Vegas, he will have to pay to ship all his equipment back to the UK for the festival.
'It's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid,' he said.
Sir Rod, who has already revealed that his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood will join him on stage, said he will have three different guests coming on, plus an orchestra.
'I'm really looking forward to it,' he added.
'And it is a different gig. It's like when you're playing a cup final: you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special.
'It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy.
'And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us.
'And we may have some bagpipes…'
Earlier this month, Sir Rod announced that he had cancelled or postponed a number of his US concerts after suffering from flu.
'I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu,' he wrote on Instagram.
'So sorry my friends.
'I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans.
'I'll be back on stage and will see you soon.'
Sir Rod will take to the Pyramid stage on Sunday June 29.
The 80-year-old has previously said he was only due to play for an hour and a quarter, but has begged to be allowed to play for an extra 15 minutes so he can fit more songs into his set.
In 2024 he promised he would not retire but confirmed his 2025 European and North American shows would bring an end to his 'large-scale world tours'.
Sir Rod's best known solo songs include Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May.
Last month he was presented with a prestigious lifetime achievement award by five of his children at the American Music Awards (AMAs).

However, some fans were still let out as they could not change plans to see the musician on his rescheduled dates. Drake is on the road with fellow Canadian singer PartyNextDoor - the stage name of Jahron Brathwaite, 32. The boys have been entertaining their fans with their $OME $PECIAL $HOWS 4 U tour. News of the change to the advertised plans was released on Sunday. Fans turning to the official Co-Op Arena website were met with a notice detailing the rescheduled concert. A notice warned: "Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled." However, it continued: "The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night. All tickets remain valid for the new date—we can't wait to see you there!" Further details about the headliner and his concert explained: "Five-time Grammy-award winning and multi-platinum global artist Drake announced his highly anticipated return to Europe and the UK with his $ome $pecial $hows 4 UK EU run kicking off this July. "The run will feature PARTYNEXTDOOR on all dates. Produced by Live Nation. The tour marks Drake's first return to Europe and the UK in six years, following his 2019 Assassination Vacation Tour." The change in dates has left some fans disappointed, however. One responded to the news sadly on Instagram, writing: "I'm so sad came way from New York to see the boy." Many others have taken to social media to try and sell their rescheduled tickets as they are no longer able to attend the gig following the switch up of dates. And Drake has also risked turning some fans against him due to the scheduling shambles. One bitterly hit out on X, writing: "so far drake cancelled/rescheduled 3 shows: manchester, belgium and zurich. who the f**k plans his tour dates and why is it that everytime he goes to europe he either cancels the dates or reschedules!!! people travel from other countries to his concerts!!! this is absurd!" Drake and PartyNextDoor have already played two dates in Manchester and a number of shows in London ahead of the rescheduled dates. They head to Amsterdam next before retuning to Manchester the following week. The duo will remain on the road until late September, playing to crowds in Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and more.

And to a country's delight, the Lionesses didn't disappoint as England's name was once again engraved on the trophy. And shortly after the final whistle, celebrities joined fans in sending delighted messages to the history-making side. Among them were Alan Carr and Amanda Holden who went wild with celebrations. The duo were seen on Amanda's Story singing It's Coming Home with drinks in their hands. Former England footballer Rio Ferdinand also gushed: "They've done it again.. Back To Back! Quiz show guru Shaun Wallace, best known as The Dark Destroyer on ITV's The Chase also shared two video messages in support. His first saw him give an inspirational quote. Have a fantastic Sunday and good luck to the Lionesses tonight." He quickly followed it up with another message, saying: "Bring it home Lionesses," with a video of him saying: "This is a special message for the England Lionesses. Good luck today girls, let's bring that trophy home." The Royal Family's official account also gave a rousing message to the squad. It shared a superb version of It's Coming Home outside of Buckingham Palace. Alongside the upload, they wrote: "Let's go girls!! Wishing the very best of luck to the @Lionesses in the Women's Euro Final this evening. And Sarah Ferguson also gave them the royal seal of approval. Getting her message in early, she said on Friday: "We're all behind you Lionesses. Best of luck tomorrow!" The occasion comes almost three years to the day since Wiegman's team changed the face of women's football in England following their defeat of Germany in the Euro 2022 final at Wembley. On that occasion Chloe Kelly's extra-time winner would pass into English football folklore. Then, a little over a year later, there was heartbreak as Spain beat the Lionesses 1-0 in the World Cup final in Sydney. The result came despite the heroics of legendary goalkeeper Mary Earps. And now England is once again getting behind the team as they bid to lift another coveted trophy.
