Every Plate with a Purpose: AVLU & Al Jalila Foundation Team Up to Support Children's Health This Summer
This summer, AVLU Greek & Turkish Restaurant is proud to announce a purposeful partnership with Al Jalila Children's Foundation, turning every main course into a contribution toward a brighter future. From the end of June until August 25, the restaurant will donate 10% of proceeds from all main course dishes ordered throughout the weekdays to support the foundation's mission in transforming children's lives through medical innovation and compassionate care. At the heart of this initiative is AVLU's signature menu - a vibrant expression of Aegean cuisine, where each main course pays homage to generations of Greek and Turkish culinary tradition. Guests can make an impact simply by savoring any of the main course items, including standout dishes such as the Seafood Orzo, a rich combination of Greek orzo with Aegean mussels, clams, squid, and rock shrimp, finished with lemon, dill, lobster bisque, and butter. Other highlights include the Salt-Cooked Wild Seabass, delicately infused with fennel and basil oil, and the Slow-Cooked Turkish Lamb Shoulder, nestled over beef bisque–infused Greek orzo, seasoned with Aegean herbs and finished with crispy lamb shards for added texture and depth. For something deeply comforting yet refined, the Ali Nazik Kebab offers tender beef fillet slices served over smoked aubergine and strained yogurt, finished with butter, walnuts, and a touch of sweet chili powder. To complement the main courses, guests can also explore a curated selection of warm Aegean starters. Notable selections include the Baked Manti - delicate Turkish baked dumplings filled with spiced beef and topped with burnt butter and garlic yogurt; the Aubergine Milfeuille, layered with creamy Greek manouri cheese, Turkish labneh, cream cheese, and basil oil; and the Fig & Feta Cheese Saganaki, which balances sweet roasted fig jam with tangy feta, layers of crispy baklava dough with roasted sesame, and drizzled organic flower honey. 'This initiative is about more than exceptional food - it's about creating moments that matter. By partnering with Al Jalila Children's Foundation, we're giving every guest the chance to turn a dining experience into a meaningful contribution. It's a powerful reminder that even simple acts, like sharing a meal, can help support life-changing work for children across the UAE.' said Efe Yaman, Managing Partner at AVLU Restaurant. Al Jalila Foundation is a leading non-profit organisation in the UAE, committed to transforming lives through medical innovation, groundbreaking research, and compassionate care. With a special focus on children's health, the foundation provides critical funding and support for life-saving treatments that give young patients hope, healing, and a chance at a brighter future. Globalsphere Studios and Shemaroo kick off production on Turkish drama ‘Bitter Justice'
With a story by Hakan Alak, Bitter Justice also sees Nöbetçi Yapım reprise their production role in their second collaboration with Globalsphere Studios Globalsphere Studios, the joint venture helmed by MediaHub's Kerim Emrah Turna and Geophil's Robin Philip, has commenced production on its second original Turkish series, Aşka Mahkum (Bitter Justice), in collaboration with India's Shemaroo Entertainment. The launch of Bitter Justice follows the success of Globalsphere's debut drama Alaca, which premiered in 2024 with a 45×120-minute format and achieved significant viewership across Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Continuing its mission to fuse authentic Turkish storytelling with global commercial appeal, Globalsphere is strengthening its slate of high-quality drama productions with this latest title. Set to premiere at MIPCOM 2025 with an exclusive first-look screening for international buyers and partners, Bitter Justice tells a story of power, vengeance and redemption. The plot centres around a tragic construction site accident that leaves the wife of influential businessman Noyan Demir critically injured and causes the loss of their unborn child. Holding the site's safety officer Memduh responsible, Noyan demands retribution by forcing Memduh's daughter, Dünya, into servitude in his home. As Dünya quietly battles against injustice, she discovers her inner resilience and an unexpected ally, leading a powerful journey of resistance and self-reclamation. The series delves into the far-reaching impact of corruption and the quiet strength of a woman taking control of her fate. The show, created by Hakan Alak, sees the return of production company Nöbetçi Yapım, who previously partnered with Globalsphere on Alaca. Alak also co-directs the series with Tuğba Alkın, while Eliz Arkayın-Ungan steps in as showrunner. In a joint statement, Kerim Emrah Turna and Robin Philip said: 'Our vision for Globalsphere Studios is to bring compelling Turkish stories to the screen that deeply resonate with global audiences while delivering meaningful value and strong ROI to our partners. After Alaca's international success, Bitter Justice marks the next step in building a standout slate of originals with broad market appeal and long-term brand equity.'
