Bollywood actor who vanished despite successful debut, joined ₹8,500 cr+ company, richer than Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor
Bollywood is brimming with both new and seasoned talent, so much so that it's easy to miss when an actor silently steps away from films for good. This is the story of a Bollywood actor who entered the film industry in the early 2010s— a time that saw the rise of several now-prominent stars like Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, and Sidharth Malhotra.
Around the same time, Girish Kumar made his successful entry into Bollywood.
Despite a solid acting debut with the 2013 romantic drama, Ramaiya Vastavaiya helmed by Prabhu Deva, Girish did not stay for long in the industry. The film was a remake of the director's Telugu film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. It also starred Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan.
The film is still remembered for its hit musical tracks. It had an average business at the box office but definitely left a mark in the hearts of its fans. In fact, Girish even fetched nominations for Best Debut or Newcomer for his debut film.
However, after Ramaiya Vastavaiya he appeared only in one film-- Loveshhuda, opposite Navneet Kaur Dhillon. The film was released in 2016 and failed at the box office. It also received negative reviews from critics, after which Girish left acting for good. Since then he never starred in any films.
While Girish left acting, he did not leave the film industry. He joined a bigwig company in the industry.
Girish Kumar is the son of film producer Kumar S Taurani. He is also the nephew of Ramesh S Taurani.
As the founders of Tips Industries, the Taurani brothers are one of the most popular names in the industry, earning a prominent place beyond Bollywood. Following his silent exit from acting, Girish joined the family business, working alongside his father and uncle to help manage and grow the Tips empire.
Currently, he is serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tips Industries.
As of the stock market close on Tuesday, 24 June 2025, the market capitalisation (M-Cap) of Tips Music Industries was at ₹ 8,533.40 crore, according to NSE data.
Girish Kumar may have stepped away from the limelight, but his role in the family-run Tips Industries has helped him build an impressive fortune, even making him richer than some of the current actors. Thanks to his stake in the company, Girish's personal wealth is estimated at around ₹ 2,164 crore, as per corporate shareholding data reported by Hindustan Times.
This puts him ahead of several big names in Bollywood, including Ranbir Kapoor ( ₹ 400 crore), Ranveer Singh ( ₹ 245 crore), and Varun Dhawan ( ₹ 380 crore), but even surpassing superstar Aamir Khan, whose net worth is estimated at ₹ 1,900 crore.
Earlier this month, Girish Kumar was snapped out and about in Mumbai.
The former actor tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart Krsna and is a father to their child.

Uppu Kappurambu OTT release date OUT: Keerthy Suresh-Suhas film to stream on Prime Video from THIS date
The much-anticipated Telugu satirical comedy 'Uppu Kappurambu', starring Keerthy Suresh and Suhas, is set to make its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video on July 4, 2025. Directed by Ani IV Sasi, the film brings together a refreshing blend of humour, social commentary, and eccentric characters, all set against the backdrop of a fictional Telugu village in the 1990s. At the heart of the story lies an unusual and quirky conflict — the village graveyard is running out of burial space. This peculiar problem sets off a chain of comedic events as the villagers try to find practical (and sometimes bizarre) solutions. Leading the charge is Apoorva, a newly appointed government official portrayed by Keerthy Suresh, and Chinna, the earnest graveyard caretaker played by Suhas. Together, they navigate the crisis while dealing with the idiosyncrasies of rural bureaucracy and community politics. The film's trailer hints at an engaging narrative filled with sharp satire, unexpected twists, and a celebration of collective spirit in rural life. It also features a supporting cast including Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari, adding further layers of humour and emotion. Keerthy Suresh, known for her intense and dramatic roles, steps into uncharted territory with a geeky, light-hearted character that has already caught the attention of fans. Her transformation into a slightly awkward, yet spirited bureaucrat marks a significant departure from her usual screen persona. Described as a satirical take on burial practices in rural Andhra, 'Uppu Kappurambu' promises not just laughs but also a commentary on the intersection of tradition, administration, and community problem-solving. With its unique premise and strong cast, 'Uppu Kappurambu' is shaping up to be a must-watch for Telugu cinema lovers when it arrives on streaming this July.

DSP recently addressed the issue at a public event, expressing concern over the striking similarities between Oo Antava and Anlayana. According to the composer, the Turkish version resembles the original so closely that it can be regarded as a direct copy. He admitted that although he was disheartened by the lack of credit, he also saw the incident as a sign of Telugu music 's growing global reach. DSP is currently contemplating legal action against the Turkish singer. Who is Atiye, the Singer Accused of Copying 'Oo Antava'? Atiye is a well-known Turkish pop artist who began her career in the late 2000s. Born in Istanbul, she has built a reputation for her energetic performances and genre-blending style that often includes pop, electronic, and dance music. In 2011, she won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Turkish Act and has since worked on several international collaborations. She also attempted to break into global markets with English-language releases, including her 2015 single Come To Me. With multiple Turkish and English hits to her name, Atiye had never previously been associated with any plagiarism controversies. As of now, neither she nor her team has responded publicly to the accusations. Social Media Fuels the Plagiarism Claims The controversy gained momentum online after music listeners pointed out the melodic similarities between the two songs. Comments on the Anlayana YouTube video flooded in, with many calling out the resemblance. Several users highlighted how the tune echoed Oo Antava, identifying it as the original and praising DSP's composition.
