Man who slipped into coma after BMW hit & run dies
According to police, Raza suffered fractures to his head, leg and hands. He had slipped into a coma during treatment. He was being treated at a private hospital in Ghaziabad since Saturday midnight after the accident. He died late on Sunday.
On Sunday, his five-year-old niece Ayaat had died in a hit-and-run incident before she could be taken to a hospital. Her father Gul Mohammad, also injured in the accident, continues to remain under observation at a private hospital in Sector 20.

The accident was reported a little after Saturday midnight, near gate number 3 of Child PGI Hospital. The child had complained of an earache and was nauseous earlier in that evening and was taken to the hospital for a checkup by her father and uncle. The three were returning home around 12.20am.
Police said that Gul, a plumber, approached a U-turn near the hospital from the wrong side on his scooter when the BMW rammed it.

The youths had fled after the crash but were later arrested under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (act endangering life), and 106(1) (causing death by negligence).
Medical reports had confirmed that both had consumed alcohol.
Police said Sharma was behind the wheel at the time of the accident and abandoned the car a little distance away from the crash spot. They were returning from a party when the incident occurred.
So far, police have questioned eight persons who were present at the party.

'To execute the plan, the accused roped in a student related to Patil and offered him ₹500 and snacks to mix the pesticide into the school's water tank,' SP Guled said. 'To prevent the student from identifying the substance, the pesticide was transferred into a plastic soft drink bottle. After mixing it into the water inside the tank, the boy discarded the bottle nearby,' the SP said, adding that the bottle was a key piece of evidence that helped investigators uncover the crime. Police traced the shopkeeper from whom the pesticide was purchased. 'Based on the shopkeeper's account, the three accused were detained. During interrogation, they confessed to the conspiracy and were arrested,' Guled added. The accused have been booked under Section 123 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are remanded to judicial custody. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday condemned the incident, describing it as a 'heinous act' rooted in communal hatred. Odisha police arrests two interstate burglars from Delhi
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Bhubaneswar, Aug 3 (PTI) The police on Sunday arrested two persons from New Delhi after they allegedly committed burglary in the house of an income tax officer here, an official said. According to police, the duo allegedly robbed 230 grams of gold ornaments and cash from the official residence of an IT department officer inside a colony on July 21 this year. Around 10.30 am on July 21, when no one was present in the house, the burglars entered the building by breaking open the main door. They had stolen 230 grams of gold ornaments and cash from there, said Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh. In the course of the investigation, it was found that the interstate burglary gang was involved in the case. The two accused persons were arrested in Delhi, and Rs 18 lakh in cash was seized, he said. The accused persons were active in Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and other states of India, he said. The seized cash is almost equivalent to the cost of the stolen gold. The seized money will be handed over to the victim, Singh said. Drugs Worth Around Rs 350-Crore Seized In Mizoram, 1 Arrested
Aizawl: In one of the biggest drug hauls in Mizoram, the state police have seized crystal methamphetamine and heroin worth around Rs 350 crore and arrested one person, a senior officer said on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, a team comprising personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch) and the Special Narcotic police station in Aizawl conducted an operation near the state capital on August 1. The joint team intercepted an Aizawl-bound pickup truck, which was carrying Mithun, at a stretch between Zemabawk and Seling areas, the police officer said. During a thorough search of the vehicle, the team seized 20.304 kg of crystal meth worth around Rs 300 crore and 1.652 kg of heroin concealed in 128 soap cases worth Rs 49.56 lakh from a hidden compartment, the officer said. The vehicle's driver, identified as B Lalthazuala (45), a resident of Aizawl's Republic Mual Veng, has been arrested for transporting drugs, he said. The accused has been booked under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, he said. Further investigation is underway, the officer added.
