SAD Daljit Singh Cheema lauds 'Operation Sindoor', backs Centre despite all-party meet snub
'The precision strike carried out by our armed forces is commendable... Pakistan is not able to explain to the world how Indian action is wrong... Their army and government are still functioning and spreading misinformation... They are attacking our civilian areas near the border... I congratulate our forces on their professionalism... Had we been invited to the all-party meeting, we would have definitely attended, but we stand with our government and our forces,' he told ANI on Thursday.
The Centre called the all-party meeting on Thursday at the Parliament Annexe building regarding Operation Sindoor. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed the political parties on India's action on cross-border terrorism.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi are among several other leaders who participated in the meeting.
The meeting was convened to brief political leaders on the situation after Operation Sindoor--a series of precision missile strikes in the early hours on Wednesday, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
After India executed Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror sites deep inside Pakistan were destroyed, Pakistan attempted to engage several military targets on the night of May 7.
The military targets were engaged in Northern and Western India, including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles.
These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from several locations that prove the Pakistani attacks. (ANI)

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be on a two-day visit to New Delhi, starting July 15. During the visit, he will meet several Union Ministers to discuss the state's key developmental projects and central funding support. On July 16, Chandrababu Naidu will continue his meetings with key Union Ministers, including a special discussion with the Finance Ministry at North Block. In the evening, he will participate in a business conference hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). As per the itinerary, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will return to Amaravati on July 17 at 9:30 AM.

The President of India nominated four members to the Rajya Sabha, which includes an accomplished diplomat and former foreign secretary, Harsh Shringla. Others who were nominated to the Upper House of the Parliament include eminent lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, who led the prosecution case against 26/11 attack terrorist Ajmal Kasab in the sessions court and the Bombay High Court. Who Is Harsh Vardhan Shringla? Shringla is an ex-Foreign Secretary of India. He joined the IFS in 1984 and was the youngest in his batch. He has been described by his peers as 'no nonsense" and 'sharp". He graduated from Delhi University's St. Stephen's College. He published papers on economic diplomacy, Indian diaspora, conflict prevention, and India-Bangladesh relations. He has also published op-eds in outlets such as The New York Times. Before diplomatic service, he worked briefly in India's corporate and public sectors. He served as an Ambassador to Thailand (from 2014 to 2016), High Commissioner to Bangladesh (from 2016 to 2019), and then as Ambassador to the United States (from January 2019 to January 2020). He served as the 33rd Foreign Secretary from January 29, 2020, to April 30, 2022. He also served as the Chief Coordinator during India's Presidency of the G20 Summit in 2023. He oversaw the successful organisation and adoption of the Delhi Declaration on Day One of the summit in New Delhi. Shringla has held key roles at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, including Joint Secretary for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and the Maldives. He also led the UN Political and SAARC divisions, and earlier handled Nepal, Bhutan, and Western Europe affairs. PM Modi highlights govt's focus on generating jobs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasised his government's focus on generating employment in the public and private sectors, asserting that the country has progressed in every field in the past 11 years. In a virtual address after the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters, he said his government's welfare schemes, be it building over 4 crore houses for the poor, distributing over 10 crore new LPG connections or the rooftop solar programme, have created lakhs of new employment opportunities. Noting that over 25 crore people were lifted out of poverty in the past 10 years, the prime minister said it would not have happened but for the employment and sources of income generated for them. These poor people used to have a difficult living and feared death but became so strong that they defeated poverty, he added. Modi said his government's focus on boosting manufacturing has paid off, saying electronic manufacturing has risen over five times in 11 years and mobile manufacturing units number nearly 300 from two to four earlier. Defence manufacturing is being discussed proudly after Operation Sindoor, he said in an apparent reference to India's indigenous military capability shown during the conflict with Pakistan.
