CM Naidu for Delhi on July 15–16
The Chief Minister will focus on a wide range of issues, including the ongoing projects in Andhra Pradesh, the release of pending funds, the Polavaram–Banakacharla connectivity initiative, and matters related to the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Besides, he will seek greater coordination and assistance from the Centre to accelerate infrastructure and welfare efforts in the state.
On July 15, Chandrababu Naidu will depart from Amaravati in the morning and is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the afternoon. He will also hold meetings with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, IT and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, NITI Aayog member Dr VK Saraswat, and Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Dr Vikas Kumar. In the evening, the Chief Minister will attend a memorial service in honour of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
The event will take place at 4:30 PM at the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library in Delhi.
On July 16, Chandrababu Naidu will continue his meetings with key Union Ministers, including a special discussion with the Finance Ministry at North Block. In the evening, he will participate in a business conference hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
As per the itinerary, the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will return to Amaravati on July 17 at 9:30 AM.

Centre scraps fixed highway targets: States to pick priority projects; move aimed at faster execution
Representative image In a major policy shift, the union ministry of road transport and highways has scrapped the practice of assigning fixed construction targets to states. Instead, it will now work jointly with states and collaborate in order to set floating targets for building national highways, expressways, and greenfield corridors, reported ET. Under the new approach, the centre will propose multiple infrastructure projects in each selected state, allowing state governments to choose and prioritise the ones they wish to pursue, moving away from the earlier system where states were required to execute centrally assigned projects. A senior government official told the financial daily that the measure has been taken with the aim of timely completion of projects. And based on the necessary regulatory approvals and progress in land acquisition the floating targets would be set. "The idea is to get projects off the ground to avoid delays that often result in huge time and cost overrun," the official added. This would allow states to cut the duration of project completion, as they can choose to take-up projects with prior basic approvals. "It is a win-win for both Centre as well as states. There will be a bouquet of roads offered to states for development and states will be allowed to proceed with projects where they see some progress," an industry expert was quoted as saying, adding this will help fast-track completion of pending projects also. Though the ministry of road transport and highways primarily oversees national highway construction, via its autonomous agency, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), state governments play a key supporting role. They help with land acquisition, resettlement of displaced communities, and securing necessary approvals. For 2025–26, the centre has set a target of constructing 10,000 km of highways, slightly below the 10,421 km goal for 2024–25. Similarly, the road asset monetisation target for the current fiscal year has been revised down to ₹30,000 crore, compared to ₹39,000 crore in the previous year. In addition, the centre provides financial assistance to state governments and union territories (UT's) for the development and upkeep of state roads through the central road & infrastructure fund (CRIF) scheme. Build ‘Viksit Gaon' to achieve Viksit Bharat goal by 2047: Minister
Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, on Monday called for a renewed push to transform villages into 'Viksit Gaon' (developed villages), as a necessary step towards achieving the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India) by 2047. Speaking at the first meeting of the performance review committee of the Ministry of Rural Development here, Dr Sekhar said that a future where every rural family lives in a pucca house with basic amenities, every village is connected by quality roads, every youth has employment opportunities, and every woman is empowered and financially independent, is not a dream but an achievable reality. He said that to realise this vision, the Ministry must move forward with fresh energy, innovative thinking, and deep commitment. 'We are not just implementing schemes, we are writing the next chapter of India's growth story,' Dr Sekhar said, crediting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cabinet Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the remarkable progress made in rural development. Highlighting the success of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Dr Sekhar said it has become a powerful tool against rural unemployment and distress migration, especially during the agricultural lean seasons. He said with an annual investment between Rs 90,000 to Rs 1,00,000 crore, the scheme generates over 250 crore person-days of work annually, with more than 36 crore job cards issued and 15 crore active workers. The minister stressed the need to move beyond wage payments and focus on creating durable and productive assets through diversified projects. He also called for community involvement in selecting works and greater convergence with other development schemes. On the housing front, Dr Sekhar informed that more than 3.22 crore pucca houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G), helping families living in kutcha or dilapidated homes. He said the government has set a target of building an additional 2 crore houses by 2029, and encouraged the use of eco-friendly, cost-effective, and region-specific construction technologies. Dr Sekhar also underlined the success of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), under which over 7.56 lakh kilometres of rural roads have been constructed so far. He suggested the creation of state-level road maintenance funds, use of community-based monitoring systems, and innovative financing models to ensure sustainability of road infrastructure.

Karnataka BJP on Monday slammed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's decision to remain absent from the Sigandur Bridge inauguration event as 'pettiness'. The party further asked, "Does it burn that BJP achieved what Congress couldn't in 60 years?" The inauguration of the 2.12-kilometre-long Sigandur Bridge, built at a cost of Rs 473 crore, has run into controversy after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged that protocol was not followed and announced that no local Ministers or MLAs from the state government would attend the event. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Monday, CM Siddaramaiah stated that it was the Centre that had initiated the conflict. Responding to the criticism, the Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka stated on Monday that, "The people of the Sharavathi backwater region are celebrating today as a 60-year-old dream is finally coming true. They are decorating their homes with festoons and flowers, celebrating this joyous day like a festival." "But like a man who doesn't want the marriage yet goes looking for a stone in the wedding meal, you, as the Chief Minister of the state, chose not to join in the celebrations of this historic day. Instead, you stirred up unnecessary controversy. What can we even say about such pettiness?" Ashoka slammed. Ashoka further charged, "Is it making you jealous that what couldn't be achieved in 60 years of Congress rule has now been accomplished by the BJP-led Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?" "Or is it that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, instructed you not to attend the bridge inauguration ceremony?" Ashoka asked. "When high command leaders call, you leave all state matters and rush to Delhi in a special flight just to save your chair. But you don't have the will to attend the Sigandur Bridge inauguration?" Ashoka questioned. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari is visiting Karnataka to dedicate the Sigandur bridge project to the people of the state. Construction work began on December 12, 2019. The bridge, a long-standing demand for over 60 years, is expected to benefit more than 40 villages. Previously, people and vehicles had to use a ferry to cross the Sharavathi River. The Chief Minister had written a letter to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari objecting to the timing of the inauguration and had requested that the event be postponed. Responding to a question on Monday about the inauguration, CM Siddaramaiah said he had spoken to Union Minister Gadkari over the phone and also written to him, requesting a change in schedule for the programme in Sagara taluk. Although Gadkari had agreed to reschedule the event, the programme was schedule for Monday under pressure from local BJP leaders, without informing him, CM Siddaramaiah stated.
