EXCLUSIVE The shocking reason the Spice Girls have reunited WITHOUT Victoria Beckham: Insiders tell KATIE HIND how the band are back rehearsing and are even planning a tour... but haven't bothered to get in touch with Posh

Daily Mail02-05-2025
Since Victoria Beckham last joined the Spice Girls on stage for the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, it has been their greatest wish that she would once again take part in a reunion.
And, so, their courtship of her was, for a considerable amount of time, nothing short of relentless: from begging her in their joint WhatsApp group, to placing pleas in the press - and even trying to get her husband, David, to put in a good word for them.
So it may come as a surprise that, as the band are busily trying to put together another reunion tour, there is still one name missing from the line-up: Victoria, the most famous of all the Spice Girls.
So what's the reason for her being left out of the band's current project, which they hope will culminate into a string of concerts across the globe next year?
The reason can be boiled down to two simple words: Simon Fuller.
For after decades of tension and animosity, the four other Spice Girls - Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton - are again back working with their creator and former manager, Fuller, now 64.
It's all in the hope that the foursome can embark on a potentially lucrative tour to mark the 30th anniversary of their 1996 debut single, Wannabe, next year.
However, while the others have been able to put their differences behind them, Victoria, 50, and husband David have both fallen out with the music mogul.
Indeed, relations between the trio became so bad that both Beckhams bought themselves out of their contracts with Simon's XIX Entertainment in 2018.
'The Spice Girls working with Fuller means that there is absolutely no way that Victoria will be involved at all,' said one source close to the band.
'It feels rather bizarre that they would beg Victoria for years and years to join them and now they have him on board, they don't approach her. Maybe they thought there would be no point, as the Beckhams and Fuller no longer have a relationship, it's over.
'While the band need a manager, what this does mean is there is zero chance that Victoria will be involved. Clearly, they know that too so they didn't even bother asking her now they are back with Fuller.'
I revealed back in 2018 that David was to part ways with Fuller after more than 15 years of working with him.
He and Victoria paid around £38million for Fuller's 33 per cent stake in the former England footballer's businesses, which gave the Beckhams full control of Beckham Brand Holdings, which includes a stake in the US-based football club Inter Miami FC.
Sources close to both men said at the time there had been some 'issues' between them, and their once close friendship had very much come to an end.
Then, in August 2019, Victoria also ditched Fuller, who had managed her up until then.
He and Victoria paid around £38million for Fuller's 33 per cent stake in the former England footballer's businesses, which gave the Beckhams full control of Beckham Brand Holdings, which includes a stake in the US-based football club Inter Miami FC
While he remains a shareholder in her fashion label, there is no love lost between the Beckhams and Fuller - so much so that they put the kibosh on him managing their youngest son Cruz, whom they had hoped would become a pop star in his own right.
Sources close to the couple say they opted instead for Scooter Braun, 38, the man behind Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, in a bid to ensure that Cruz had someone 'younger and fresher' to manage him.
'They were all once so close, but various things happened between the Beckhams and Fuller,' a source told me. 'David and Victoria wanted out and Simon didn't exactly make it easy.
'They got there in the end and there has been no looking back.
'The Spice Girls will know this and have obviously taken their chances and gone with Simon. It's all very odd, because the other girls didn't ever think much of him either.'
Indeed they didn't. Even some of Fuller's own staff were taken aback when he jetted in from Los Angeles to cheer the band on for the opening night of their last reunion tour at Dublin's Croke Park stadium in 2019.
Because while he may have catapulted the group to global fame back in the mid-90s, they ditched Fuller for those 2019 gigs in which they appeared as a foursome, amid suggestions that he was 'too old fashioned' to mastermind their comeback.
Instead, they chose Modest Management, the London-based firm that managed the likes of One Direction and Little Mix.
Adding to the surprise of Fuller - 'yesterday's man', as some in their circle dubbed him - being back at the helm is also the years-long on/off animosity between him and the Spice Girls. Not to mention the fall outs that have also occurred between the girls themselves.
One source close to the singers tells me. 'They ditched Fuller last time as they thought he was out of touch and not the right person to make their tour work. It was pretty brutal but they didn't want him involved then.
'They have spent months trying to find a new manager but the job is a nightmare, particularly because of the turbulent friendship between Mel B and Geri. So what should have been seen as a great job is actually very hard because of the constant warring between them.
'Now they have found their way back to Fuller and it all feels very dire. You can't help but think that this is all going to end in tears.'
Indeed, without his management, the last tour did well, selling 700,000 tickets across 13 sold-out stadium shows in the UK and Ireland, making each Spice Girl £4.4million each.
But after months of trying - and failing - to find a manager in a bid to recreate that success, the fact that Fuller has been asked to oversee the new reunion tour may illustrate how keen some of the group are on making yet another comeback.
Mel C has been hinting at plans for a 2026 reunion. Speaking on Australia's 2Day FM in March, she said: 'We have to do something special. Obviously, I can't say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully, a nice little world tour.'
But Geri stayed more coy when asked last week about a reunion. She said: 'I love the Spice Girls as a movement, the tribe of us and the individual members.'
It was revealed this week that Fuller and Geri are to meet up on Sunday, May 4, in Miami to 'thrash out a deal'.
Geri's husband Christian Horner is the boss of Formula 1 racing team Red Bull, while Simon is a huge fan and a regular in the pit lane at grand prix around the world. This weekend they will come face to face at the Miami race as Fuller has an invitation from Red Bull.
Indeed, the reality is that even Geri's participation in the reunion appeared to be touch and go for a while, but now looks to be on a relatively firmer footing.
I'm told the scandal engulfing her husband, who accused of misconduct by a team employee, apparently sending her sexually suggestive messages, put Geri off taking part.
However, with the publication of her children's books, Geri appears to again be enjoying a taste of fame, and those close to the band suggest her taste for the limelight has returned.
Potential pitfalls abound, however, even if the reunion deal comes off.
Geri's fall-out with Mel B remains an issue: the two women had a monumental fallout after Mel B told Piers Morgan in a 2019 television interview that she had had an intimate relationship with Geri in the band's early days.
Geri was deeply upset by the bombshell, for which Mel has apparently never apologised.
This alone would make for a bumpy return to the road for the tour, never mind the rest.
'There are times when the two of them haven't been able to be in the same room,' said a Spice Girls insider. 'They have had some crazy fall outs which is really hard for the others.
'If they can pull this tour off it will be nothing short of a miracle.'

Spice Girls 'feud' uncovered ahead of Mel B's star-studded wedding

EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of Melanie Brown's wedding this weekend, there had been reports that two Spice Girls stars had been snubbed, but the Mirror can now reveal the truth Spice Girls icon Melanie Brown MBE will marry her fiancé, Rory McPhee, this weekend, with one of her bandmates in attendance. Rory, a hair stylist, got down on one knee and proposed to the Leeds-born icon in October 2022, four years after the pair started dating one another. The singer who found fame as one-fifth of the chart-mauling girl group has never shied away from discussing her love for Rory, with the pair often posing for loved-up social media snaps. Even at Melanie's 50th birthday party, the couple looked smitten with one another as they danced in front of guests, including bandmates Melanie C and Emma Bunton, who had travelled to West Yorkshire for the occasion. ‌ Now, the couple are preparing to say "I do" in one of the most iconic landmarks in the UK, St Paul's Cathedral in London. Each year, only a handful of couples are given permission to marry at the same location where the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and now King Charles tied the knot. ‌ But reports had suggested that some of Melanie's bandmates would be attending the ceremony due to a feud. Now, the Mirror can reveal the truth behind the speculation. A source close to the band told us: "There's no snub, the girls are all on friendly terms with one another, but it's no secret that Geri is busy with Christian at Formula One and Victoria is extremely busy with her fashion brand." It's believed that Victoria, who has since carved out a name as one of the biggest fashion designers, has work commitments in another country. Meanwhile, Melanie C, known as Sporty Spice, is currently on tour and will be performing in Rødovre, eastern Denmark. It was reported by the MailOnline that Geri would not be attending due to a fractured relationship with Melanie, but this isn't the case, according to our source. Instead, Ginger Spice will be alongside her F1 husband, Christian Horner, at the British Grand Prix, which is being held at Silverstone Circuit between July 4 and July 6. Melanie is said to have known Rory for decades, describing him as a "family friend". Speaking about their relationship, she revealed they grew close after she returned to her hometown of Leeds after previously living in Los Angeles. ‌ The For Once In My Life songstress said: "When I went back to England, he would come over and give me hair treatments... And as he was nurturing my curls back, I guess he was nurturing my trust and belief in a relationship." The singer recently delighted fans after celebrating her hen do in Tunisia alongside some of her closest friends, beloved mum Andrea, sister Danielle and her eldest daughter, Pheonix. Dressed in her iconic leopard print bikini, the star, who was awarded an MBE for services to charitable work and supporting vulnerable women through Women's Aid, described the event as her "Zen party." ‌ Melanie's bandmate, Victoria, was originally set to design her wedding gown, but instead, another designer has now been given the honour. And although she's known for her flamboyant personality and leopard print, the Mirror understands that Melanie will be going for a traditional white dress for the stunning occasion. British designer Josephine Scott is believed to be the designer behind the dress for Melanie's UK ceremony, while she will be wearing another dress, believed to be by American designer Justin Alexander, for her ceremony in Morocco, which will take place later in the month. Speaking about the occasions, Melanie told Women's Wear Daily: "This will be a very formal, English wedding where I want to feel regal and very proper. All the ladies will wear hats or fascinators. Then, I'm having a second ceremony abroad, which will be more informal, sexy and beautiful."

Tennis fans ‘gutted' as British underdog Oliver Tarvet bows out on Centre Court

The 21-year-old qualifier thrilled the Centre Court crowd on Tuesday afternoon, breaking Alcaraz twice and chasing down every point in a battling 6-1 6-4 6-4 loss. Chants of 'Let's go, Ollie, let's go' and 'Ollie, Ollie, Ollie – oi, oi, oi' rang out from the stands as the Briton pushed the world number two in a spirited performance. Inside the grounds, many supporters said they had never heard of Tarvet until this week – but would be following his career from now on. Sarah Connolly, 34, from Guildford, told the PA news agency: 'I'm gutted. Honestly, I thought he might just do it. 'He had the crowd with him. He's got heart and talent – that was proper Centre Court drama.' Tarvet, a San Diego-based student making his Grand Slam debut, had been seen as a total outsider before his run to the second round. 'It's been brilliant to see someone completely unknown come in and make a name for himself,' said 55-year-old Paul Whitaker, from Doncaster. 'That's what Wimbledon's all about – underdogs, surprises, grit. I hope he's back next year.' Emma Doyle, 26, from Manchester, said: 'He had Alcaraz rattled. That's not something you see every day from someone ranked in the 700s.' 'He left everything out there – and I think we all fell in love with him a bit today,' added her friend Jasmine Noor, 25. 'He's the people's champion.' Tarvet's girlfriend, Helaena Staebler, was pictured smiling and cheering him on from the stands. Fans leaving the grounds said they hoped his run would inspire more young players. 'It's not just about winning – it's about showing you belong,' said Nigel Armstrong, 63, from Sussex. 'Tarvet proved he does.'

This Chicago pizza favorite was just named one of the best pizzerias in America

When it comes to Chicago pizza, we all have our favorites. Tavern style has that addictive cracker-thin crust and convenient square-shaped party cut, while for deep dish —that legendary Windy City delight—a special pan allows for the pie to have a high edge, providing bounteous space for thick cheese and a chunky tomato sauce. One heavy slice can feel like an entire meal. And now there's a new guide that confirms what we already know: Chicago has some of the best pizza in the world. There's much debate in the Windy City around who serves up the best pizza: Is it Giordano's, Pequod's, Gino's East, Lou Malnati's? What about Milly's Pizza in the Pan, The Art of Pizza, or Rosati's? Pizza politics run deep in the City of Big Shoulders. Certain heavy hitters have always been fan favorites, but according to 50 Top Pizza, one Chicago-based pizza restaurant was worthy enough to top all of those local favorites in its Guide to the Best Pizzerias in the World. The top three award winners for best pizzerias overall, celebrated at an award ceremony at New York City's West Edge inside Chelsea Market, are Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City, Pizzeria Sei in Los Angeles, and Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco, with L'Industrie Pizzeria in NYC earning the coveted Best Pizza Slice accolade. But Chicagoland held its own: Three award-winning pizzerias were represented on this year's list, with Chicago's Robert's Pizza and Dough Co. —located along the Ogden Slip in Streeterville—cracking the top ten at No. 6. It's not the first time that the local spot has featured on the list; it was ranked tenth in last year's lineup. Though every order is a good one, Robert's is arguably best-known for its Rita pie, which features house-made sausage, pork from Slaggel Farm, fresh basil, Italian buffalo mozzarella and a slow-roasted plum tomato. Robert's sixth-place win earns the restaurant a coveted spot in the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World ranking. Winners will be invited to the Teatro Mercadante in Naples on September 8 for the 50 Top Pizza World 2025 awards ceremony. Elsewhere on the 2025 guide was Coda di Volpe (coming in at No. 44) and Jimmy's Pizza Cafe (singled out as one of the country's best slice shops, ranked at No. 12). 'Year after year we are noticing changes in pizzerias across the United States that have led to increasingly interesting ideas and that are good for the entire industry,' said Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro and Albert Sapere, the three curators of 50 Top Pizza, in an official statement. 'We would also like to mention that the different styles of pizza that our inspectors get to enjoy are also getting more numerous; this is a good thing because it creates a wider variety for the customer.'
