The Print2 days ago
The video shows Deepak Mishra of the Reusa police station area confronting SI Srinivas Pande, alleging that the latter had demanded a Rs 25,000 bribe to settle a dispute arising from an accident involving Mishra's tractor and a pickup vehicle that had occurred in the past.
According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening in the Tambour police station area.
Sitapur (UP), Jul 12 (PTI) Sitapur police have launched an inquiry after a video went viral purportedly showing a man confronting a sub-inspector (SI) over a bribe payment.
Mishra told media he has already paid Rs 15,000 of the demanded sum.
In the video, Mishra is seen physically stopping Pande's motorcycle, demanding the return of his alleged bribe money.
A heated argument ensued, which was eventually diffused by bystanders, leading to Mishra letting go of the bike.
Following the video, police initiated an inquiry under Leharpur circle officer. Officials stated that preliminary findings suggest the parties in the original accident had settled the matter with Deepak.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sitapur police asserted that Mishra appeared to be in a 'drunken state' in the video, adding that his allegations of the SI taking money are 'insufficient evidence' to prove the claim.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter. PTI COR CDN AMJ AMJ

Carpenter arrested for stealing gold from doctor's house

Mysuru: An ophthalmologist, after spending anxious days, is all smiles again after city police solved a theft that occurred at her home in Bogadi in May. Luckily, all the jewels stolen from her home, allegedly by a carpenter from Tamil Nadu, were recovered by Saraswathipuram police. Dr Kshama, the ophthalmologist, said the incident taught her a lesson to be cautious and not to trust strangers. Dr Kshama was shocked as a huge amount of gold was missing from the digital safe locker without any force being used. This puzzled her as the locker PIN was known only to her husband and herself. After days of worrying and thinking about how they went missing, she approached the police. Commissioner of police Seema Latkar explained the modus operandi of the carpenter and his method of opening the digital safe locker with the help of a popular search engine. Seema explained that the carpenter allegedly planned the crime while working for about a week at the doctor's home. He allegedly removed screws from the window of the restroom, from where he entered the home and committed the offence. He allegedly took away only half of the gold from the digital safe locker when the family was away from home to ensure that he was not suspected, she said. Interestingly, he took the help of the search engine to reset the PIN of the digital locker and opened it without using any force. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cách giao dịch ETH/USD mà không cần nắm giữ Ether IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo As a carpenter, he had installed digital lockers and was aware of the procedure. He was fluent in speaking English, which helped him reset the PIN, the commissioner of police explained. An officer said that soon after the FIR was registered, police were quick to solve the crime by arresting the carpenter from Tamil Nadu. The doctor approached the cops three weeks after the crime, but they were successful in cracking the case within four days. The stolen jewels, about 287 gms worth Rs 26 lakh, pledged in a bank, were recovered. The carpenter came to Mysuru as he was hired by a contractor to work in the hospital where Dr Kshama worked. He was assigned to make a wardrobe at the doctor's home, where he worked for a week. During that time, he also offered to do other work when he allegedly planned the crime. The complainant expressed doubt about the carpenter as he was present at home when they went away after locking the home. Police said the carpenter, a first-time offender, allegedly took to crime to fund his wife's surgery. He is now cooling his heels in jail, the police said. In the last two months, city police have solved 42 cases, including two house break-ins, 8 chain snatchings, and 28 two-wheeler thefts, and recovered stolen property worth Rs 63 lakh. --- Four chains snatched in four hours! Three individuals from Tamil Nadu, including a couple, who robbed gold chains from bus passengers at KSRTC suburban bus stand and city bus stand within four hours in May, are now behind bars. Police zeroed in on them tracking the digital footprints they left after leaving Mysuru. Soon after committing the offence, they boarded a car booked through a car aggregator app by one of their acquaintances. Police were quick to track down 80 suspects. DCP (crime) KS Sundar Raj explained the gang included two women and a man who operated in a team and in tandem. They targeted passengers while boarding the bus. The gang used to create a scene of rush by pushing and pulling their target, and a woman accused used to pull the gold chain and cut it by biting hard. An officer said within four hours, the gang robbed four women–three at the suburban bus stand and one from the city bus stand. All three accused from TN were arrested after scanning scores of CCTV footage and examining phone numbers. About 175 gms of gold valuables worth Rs 11 lakh have been recovered from them.
