Sitapur (UP), Jul 12 (PTI) Sitapur police have launched an inquiry after a video went viral purportedly showing a man confronting a sub-inspector (SI) over a bribe payment.
Mishra told media he has already paid Rs 15,000 of the demanded sum.
In the video, Mishra is seen physically stopping Pande's motorcycle, demanding the return of his alleged bribe money.
A heated argument ensued, which was eventually diffused by bystanders, leading to Mishra letting go of the bike.
Following the video, police initiated an inquiry under Leharpur circle officer. Officials stated that preliminary findings suggest the parties in the original accident had settled the matter with Deepak.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sitapur police asserted that Mishra appeared to be in a 'drunken state' in the video, adding that his allegations of the SI taking money are 'insufficient evidence' to prove the claim.

Carpenter arrested for stealing gold from doctor's house
Mysuru: An ophthalmologist, after spending anxious days, is all smiles again after city police solved a theft that occurred at her home in Bogadi in May. Luckily, all the jewels stolen from her home, allegedly by a carpenter from Tamil Nadu, were recovered by Saraswathipuram police. Dr Kshama, the ophthalmologist, said the incident taught her a lesson to be cautious and not to trust strangers. Dr Kshama was shocked as a huge amount of gold was missing from the digital safe locker without any force being used. This puzzled her as the locker PIN was known only to her husband and herself. After days of worrying and thinking about how they went missing, she approached the police. Commissioner of police Seema Latkar explained the modus operandi of the carpenter and his method of opening the digital safe locker with the help of a popular search engine. Seema explained that the carpenter allegedly planned the crime while working for about a week at the doctor's home. He allegedly removed screws from the window of the restroom, from where he entered the home and committed the offence. He allegedly took away only half of the gold from the digital safe locker when the family was away from home to ensure that he was not suspected, she said. Man loses Rs 9.4 lakh in matrimony fraud
Davanagere: CEN police in Davanagere have registered a matrimonial case, wherein a software engineer lost Rs 9.4 lakh over two months. After Tejaraj T, 29, from Ashok Nagar, registered on a matrimonial site, he was contacted by one identfied as 'Abhinaya Subhash'. "The victim, Tejaraj T, had uploaded his profile seeking an alliance on the matrimonial site. He received a message from 6011-70241238 on April 24, 2025, from one Abhinaya Subhash. The caller also claimed that she was staying in Malaysia, but has a permanent address in Chennai. Abhinaya had also given her consent to marry him. After that, they both were in contact through WhatsApp. They decided to marry after informing both their families," said CEN police officer in Davanagere. According to the officer, the suspect asked Tejaraj to invest in cryptocurrency, claiming substantial profits. She also sent him a registration link of the company, and he transferred Rs 9.4 lakh through UPI in 17 transactions. "Realising that he could withdraw his money from the site, he asked Abhinaya a way out. Abhinaya shared another contact number, which she claimed to be of customer care.
