Yahoo21 hours ago
The future of Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries could be resolved by the end of July, with Premier League duo Newcastle United and Aston Villa vying for him, as well as Barcelona.
As reported in today's newspaper edition of Tuttosport, and via FCInterNews.it, the Netherlands international has a release clause in his contract that expires at the end of the month and a departure could be finalised in the coming days.
Indeed, Barcelona are already in talks with Dumfries' representatives, namely father Boris and brother Donovan, with the pair actively floating his availability for transfer around.
The La Liga champions have appointed noted agent Jorge Mendes to negotiate on their behalf in order to secure the former PSV Eindhoven man.
However, Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also keen on bringing Dumfries to England, as they push for Champions League qualification.
Neither side have made a formal bid yet but may press ahead in order to take advantage of the release clause in the Dutchman's contract.
Dumfries joined Inter from PSV in 2021 and has made 179 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals.

Liverpool forward on the brink of agreeing transfer move

Diaz and Bayern are close It's the German giants Bayern Munich who have displayed the most interest in Diaz so far and they're intent on getting their man, despite the high €100m asking price that Liverpool have put on him. We didn't know if Liverpool would consider budging on their demands, since the stance that club has shown so far has been one of 'he's not for sale', but the latest reports claims there's been movement. According to Nicolo Schira, who posted an update on X: "Luis Diaz is getting closer to Bayern Munich from Liverpool for €75m. Agreement in principle with the winger for a contract until 2030." That figure would equate to around £65m which is £16m profit on the £49m Liverpool paid in 2022.

Barcelona lock in presentation date for their new signing

According to an update from Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Marcus Rashford will officially be presented as the new Barcelona player on Wednesday, July 23. It must be noted that the Manchester United forward arrived in the city on Sunday night to begin his loan tenure with Barça. The loan deal is for one season, with a €30 million buy option included. His first few days in Catalonia will be packed with activities before he joins the team's trip to Asia for the pre-season later in the week. On Monday morning, which is today, Rashford will undergo his medical tests at the Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despi. Even though Barcelona and Manchester United have already finalised the terms of his loan, the club has decided to push the official presentation back by a day. Presentation delayed due to Flick's training schedule Rashford was originally expected to be presented on Tuesday. However, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has scheduled a double training session for that day, forcing the club to move the event to Wednesday afternoon instead. After training for the third time with his new teammates on Wednesday morning, Rashford will head back to the Spotify Camp Nou offices later in the day. In the evening, he will officially sign his contract in the presence of club president Joan Laporta. Right after putting pen to paper, Rashford will make his first comments as a Barcelona player to the club's in-house media. An hour later, the 27-year-old forward will attend a press conference at the Barça store in Spotify Camp Nou. There, he will speak to the press for the first time since completing his move from Manchester United. Following this eventful start, Rashford will then travel with the squad on Thursday to Japan, where Barcelona will kick off their pre-season tour.

Mikel Arteta says more Arsenal summer signings needed: ‘We have to improve depth and quality'

Mikel Arteta has spoken of his 'excitement' at the four signings Arsenal have made during pre-season but says more additions are needed before the end of the transfer window. Arsenal have been joined on their pre-season tour by new signings Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Noni Madueke, meanwhile, is not part of the squad following his participation at the Club World Cup with Chelsea. Advertisement At a press conference to mark Arsenal's arrival in Singapore for friendlies against Milan and Newcastle United, Arteta said of the new arrivals: 'It's like shaking the tree again. Bringing new faces, they bring new excitement, new energy as well. We signed very important players as well. I think everybody feels that the heights have to go to a different level and it's what we are seeking.' Arteta says Arsenal are still pushing for more arrivals. 'There's still a long time in the window, and we are seeking still,' said the Arsenal manager. 'In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. 'We are constantly looking in the market. Until that happens, focus on the players we have and focus on them and I'm very pleased with what I have seen in the last 10-15 days. 'Ideally you want it from day one in pre-season. I think we have done very well so far, I'm very pleased with how the club has supported the necessities and improvements that we required in the team. I think Andrea (Berta, Arsenal sporting director) and the team has done an excellent job as well trying to push everything forward. There's a long time to go in the window but we have still our hopes we can improve the team and we will continue to try and do that.' Arsenal are working to finalise the signings of 27-year-old Sweden international striker Viktor Gyokeres and 21-year-old Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. Asked about ongoing negotiations for striker Gyokeres, Arteta said, 'I cannot comment on any player who is not part of our group yet. When we have something concrete to offer in any case to any player we will do that.' Arteta pushed back on the idea that it's been a stressful summer for him. 'Exciting,' he responded. 'You see the club ownership and ambition we have, the alignment we have (with) everybody, in the board and with everybody connected with Andrea. There is an excitement about the new season. Super positive about it.' Advertisement Arteta also remarked on the impact Zubimendi has already made since signing from Real Sociedad. 'It was a long process and he had a lot of opportunities to decide about whether he wanted to come,' Arteta said. 'The good news is that this club is amazing and everyone wants to come to it. He left some very good opportunities to come to us. 'We are all very impressed about what we have seen over the last 7-10 days. Because once you have the player daily and you see his character, his personality, his character and how much he is going to bring to the team. (I'm) very excited about it.' Arsenal's Monday morning training session was postponed due to torrential rain. 'We have to adapt to those situations too and I'm very excited to have a successful tour,' he said. Arteta's team play Milan at the Singapore national stadium on July 23, before facing Newcastle on Sunday 27.
