From Rusev to Dominik Mysterio: 3 possible feuds for Sheamus now that he is back on WWE programming

Time of India22-05-2025
Sheamus, who was left off the WrestleMania 41 card, returned to WWE programming a a few weeks ago and defeated Austin Theory in a one-sided match. This week, he picked up a win over Grayson Waller on Raw. These victories have re-established 'The Great White' as a force to reckon with. He, however, is still without a major feud or a concrete storyline. Here is a look at three potential opponents for Sheamus now that he is back.
Hunt down a brute
The WWE may have already laid the groundwork for a feud between Sheamus and Rusev. 'The Redeemer' is currently making life difficult for Otis and Akira Tozawa. He defeated Otis in his first and only match since returning to the promotion after WrestleMania 41. Rusev is now set to take on Akira on this week's Raw.
Sheamus was recently seen boosting the Japanese star's confidence ahead of the match. As such, there is a chance of Rusev and Sheamus crossing paths on Raw on Monday.
Pursue the IC title again
Sheamus needs to win the Intercontinental title to become a Grand Slam Champion in the WWE. Dominik Mysterio is the current IC champion, which makes him the perfect target for the veteran star. The fact that 'Daddy Dom' is still part of the heel group The Judgement Day and Sheamus' a face, suggests that the feud could work.
Revive his rivalry with Bron Breakker
Sheamus had a memorable rivalry with Bron Breakker when 'The Badass' was the Intercontinental champion. The young Steiner, who longer holds the title, has emerged as one of the mainstays of the Raw since aligning with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman after WrestleMania 41.
As such, Sheamus could potentially re-enter the main event scene by reviving his feud with Breakker.

Stone Cold Steve Austin WWE return: 'Rattlesnake' to lock horns with CM Punk at SummerSlam? All we know

Stone Cold Steve Austin WWE return: Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling. The 'Rattlesnake' was a force to reckon with during the Attitude Era alongside The Rock. He hasn't laced up his boots since WrestleMania 38 where he defeated Kevin Owens in an impromptu match. However, it seems that this may change soon. Stone Cold Steve Austin to take on CM Punk? Stone Cold Steve Austin, a WWE Hall of Famer, is apparently keen to get back in the ring for 'one last match'. According to Wrestlevotes, The iconic brawler told several people during the WrestleMania 41 weekend that 'he might have one more in him'. The report also suggested that some names have already been pitched for the potential match with CM Punk being one of them. 'The Second City Saint' and Austin have never squared off in the ring before. However, they did an interaction on Raw many years ago. The two have often been compared because of their remarkable 'pipebombs' and anti-establishment personas. During his prime, Austin feuded with WWE owner Vince McMahon's faction. Similarly, CM Punk feuded with HHH and his faction 'The Authority'. This alone makes a Punk-Austin match a dream affair. Will the Austin-Punk match happen at SummerSlam? WWE will soon be on the road to SummerSlam, slated to take place this August. It is one of the 'big 4' Premium Live Events (PLEs) alongside WrestleMania, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble. Given its scale, it may just be the ideal platform for the two to lock horns. However, WWE may not be able to go down this route as there isn't enough time to build the feud. Additionally, Punk would have to turn heel for the feud to make sense. .And, this would hardly make sense since he is currently Raw's top babyface and involved in a feud with Seth Rollins's faction. However, the WWE could target Survivor Series (in November) for the feud. This would give them time to turn Punk into a corporate heel, something that was teased on SmackDown ahead of Night of Champions, and take on Austin. That said, these angles are purely hypothetical at this time. What happened in CM Punk's match at Night of Champions? John Cena defeated CM Punk at Night of Champions in a keenly contested match for the former's Undisputed Championship. The contest, however, was not a clean one as Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Penta, and Sami Zayn got involved. In the end, 'The Visionary' cost Punk the match and added a new dimension to their bitter feud.
