Ahmed Aboul Gheit Offers Condolences to Victims of Kut Fire in Iraq
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, offered his sincere condolences to the Republic of Iraq following the massive fire that broke out in a commercial market in the eastern Iraqi city of Kut, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

Iraq Resumes Kurdistan Oil Exports after over Two-Year Halt
Taarek Refaat The Iraqi federal government has officially resumed crude oil exports from the Kurdistan Region after a suspension that lasted more than two years, in a move expected to ease tensions between Baghdad and Erbil and boost national export volumes. According to a government statement, crude from Kurdistan's oil fields will now be delivered to Iraq's state oil marketing company SOMO, with the Ministry of Finance pledging a payment of $16 per barrel, either in cash or in kind, to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). This payment arrangement is in line with recent amendments to the federal budget law. The agreement mandates a minimum daily delivery of 230,000 barrels, and according to Kurdistan's own production reports, total output currently stands at 280,000 barrels per day. Of this, 50,000 barrels are allocated for domestic consumption within the region, while the remaining volume is designated for export through SOMO. Under the deal, the KRG will cover production and transportation costs, while all revenues from refined product sales, after deducting those costs, will be transferred to the federal treasury. The resumption of exports comes at a critical time for Iraq, OPEC's second-largest oil producer, which is seeking to stabilize national revenues and streamline energy cooperation between federal and regional authorities. OPEN// Egypt slams attempts to undermine ties with Saudi Arabia
CAIRO, July 17 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Thursday with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan in New Alamein, where he strongly rejected attempts by online platforms to damage relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He described the ties as longstanding and resilient. During the talks, the two ministers reaffirmed the strength of bilateral cooperation under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi King Salman and discussed ongoing work through the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council, which supports joint economic and investment efforts. They also reviewed developments in Gaza, where Abdelatty described Egypt's efforts to secure a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid. Egypt is also preparing to host a conference for Gaza's reconstruction. Talks also covered Libya, with Egypt backing a Libyan-led political solution without foreign interference. Abdelatty stressed the importance of protecting Libya's sovereignty and restoring stability. The ministers addressed the crisis in Sudan, agreeing on the need to stop the fighting and preserve the country's unity, institutions, and borders. Additionally, both sides condemned Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory, including recent attacks in Damascus. Qatar and US present updated Gaza ceasefire proposal to Israel, Hamas - War on Gaza
Qatar and the US presented an updated Gaza ceasefire and captive deal to Israel and Hamas on Wednesday, according to two sources familiar with the talks, speaking to US news outlet Axios. The revised proposal calls for a 60-day ceasefire in Israel's ongoing war on Gaza, the release of 10 live captives and the remains of 18 deceased captives, the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, and a substantial increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza. Key changes Negotiators from Israel and Hamas have made progress over the past 10 days of talks in Doha, with the updated proposal incorporating two main changes: Israel's military withdrawal and the ratio of Palestinian prisoners to captives to be released. According to Axios, Israel has made significant concessions regarding its military presence. While initially insisting on a 5km buffer zone along the Gaza-Egypt border, Israel has now agreed to reduce it to 1.5km. Additionally, the Israeli army will maintain a 1km perimeter along other parts of Gaza's border. Israeli officials noted that while the revised prisoner release ratio has been adjusted slightly, these changes are unlikely to derail the talks. However, the names of the prisoners to be released still need to be finalised. Humanitarian aid A key sticking point in the negotiations has been the delivery of humanitarian aid. Hamas has insisted that aid not be routed through the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Israeli officials say that will be the de facto result of Israel agreeing to withdraw from most parts of southern Gaza where the aid centres are located. Next steps Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani is expected to meet with Hamas leaders in Doha on Saturday to seek their approval of the updated proposal. Qatar's mediators believe that Israel's concessions on military withdrawal could pave the way for a deal. However, Hamas may have additional reservations, but not so significant that they would be a deal-breaker, one source familiar with the negotiations told Axios.
