David de Gea lays down challenge to Man Utd transfer target - 'It isn't enough'

Fiorentina frontman Moise Kean has been told "one good year isn't enough" after excelling in Serie A - which has attracted the attention of Manchester United.

The Italian has endured some less memorable stints in his career, previously struggling to make an impact during his time at Everton. The Toffees signed Kean from Juventus and then sold him back there after he couldn't deliver consistently.

Now he's proving his worth after finding a home in Florence. Last term Kean scored a career high 25 goals in 44 games and was named in the Serie A Team of the Season. Interest in him bloomed when it emerged he had a £44.5m release contract in his contract - but the deadline to activate it has reportedly passed.

United are looking to bolster their forward line and want a No 9 to compliment new arrivals Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. They've also been linked with the likes of Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
Kean is among those names on their shortlist but ex-United star David de Gea has told his new team-mate that his stellar season in front of goal cannot be a one off and he must replicate his numbers.
De Gea told Italian outlet Cronache: "When I arrived, my Italian was terrible and we spoke in English. Now I've improved and I communicate with him [Kean] more easily. He had an excellent season, but now for me he needs to have another good year, and then another, and so on.
"One good year isn't enough, he needs to continue like this and build on what he's done. He's put in some very good numbers, but he needs to keep it up and prove he can do it over time."
De Gea has revealed he would never have stayed to play in England if it wasn't for United despite his contract being allowed to run down before leaving in 2023. The Spaniard spent more than a decade in Manchester before finding a new home in Italy.
He said: "I only wanted Manchester United, and while it's true that I received offers from England, I knew it would be impossible for me to play anywhere else. I've spent my whole life there, it's the club that shaped me and allowed me to have a wonderful career. Football is like that, unexpected things happen. Like the opportunity to come here to Florence."

Man Utd transfer news: Benjamin Sesko makes decision as target speaks out on move

Manchester United have turned their attention to signing a centre-forward and goalkeeper in the summer transfer window as the Premier League season fast approaches Manchester United still have a lot of work to do in the summer transfer window after signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ United endured a miserable 2024/25 season and know they need major reinforcements if they are to turn things around. Cunha, a £62.5million addition from Wolves, and Mbeumo, who cost a potential £71m from Brentford, are big signings, but it has been slow going on other fronts. ‌ The most important is at centre-forward, where United missed out on Liam Delap to Chelsea, Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal. They cannot afford another miss and have identified some new targets, including Benjamin Sesko. ‌ Meanwhile, as the pre-season tour of the United States continues, there are plans in the works to improve in the goalkeeping department. Here is the latest from Mirror Football. Sesko 'prefers United' United know how difficult it can be to sign a striker, having missed out on at least three occasions already this summer to rivals. Well, another similar situation could be brewing with RB Leipzig striker Sesko and Newcastle. The Magpies lost out on Ekitike to Liverpool and need to replace Callum Wilson, even if Alexander Isak stays put. They are moving for Sesko and it appears to be a straight shoot-out with United, who are also interested. Local newspaper Leipziger Volkszeitung says Sesko's agent is in talks with both Newcastle and United and it could come down to the choice of the Slovenian. In that case, Sesko would 'undoubtedly' pick Ruben Amorim's side, despite the fact they can't offer any European football and Newcastle are in the Champions League. Lammens keen on transfer Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens is keen on a move to Manchester United. Lammens is one of the players United are considering after a difficult campaign for Andre Onana, while Altay Bayindir didn't convince when he got a chance either. Ambitious moves for Aston Villa's Emi Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma have gone nowhere, but Lammens is available for €15-20million (£13-17m). ‌ 'Manchester United are one of the best clubs, yes," he told reporters after sporting director Marc Overmars signed Taishi Brandon Nozawa to replace him. "But you never know. It could also be a different club, or who knows, I might stay here, in any case, I try to keep my feet on the ground. When teams like that come along, I think you've earned it.' He added: 'I certainly have enough confidence in myself. I think the most important thing is that my future team, whenever they arrive, has a plan in place. Ideally, that means playing immediately, but it's also possible I'll have to take a step in between. As long as there's a plan, it doesn't matter whether I'm ready for the next step or not. Everyone has their own career, their own path. Even if I don't take the right step right away, I'll get there.' Antony to Al-Nassr ‌ Al-Nassr appear to be coming to Manchester United's rescue with a move for Antony. The Brazilian is one of the outcasts Amorim is desperate to sell, but a move back to Real Betis, following a successful loan spell, never materialised due to financial problems. Now the Saudi Arabian side have made their interest known. Fresh off the back of agreeing a deal for one Premier League flop, in the form of Chelsea's Joao Felix, Al-Nassr also want to do the charity of signing Antony to join Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo up front. Antony would consider such a move, according to his agent, so it looks like a goer. Having already got rid of Marcus Rashford to Barcelona, this would leave Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho as the final unwanted players to offload. According to close friends, Guardiola's mood is said to range from 'euphoric' to 'depressed' as the 54-year-old reiterated his plans to take a break from management after life at the Etihad. Guardiola even half-joked being boss of the blue half of Manchester has taken years off his life when he said: 'Quite a few, especially if things are going badly. 'As I am now I'm 75 years old! I'm a wreck, everything hurts right now. 'So, if it's my biological age… maybe if I take the test, I'll come out younger. I hope to be better than I am now in a while. 'If things are going badly, the nights are harder, the day-to-day is harder. "The job of a coach, and I'm not just saying this for myself but for all my colleagues, is 24/7. If not, you won't get through it. 'The pressure on your shoulders is enormous, and you need people to lend a hand to put things into perspective, above all. 'You have to try to achieve stability when you have so many ups and downs and you're up to your neck in everything. Guardiola left scratching his head as City blow 3-0 lead against Feyenoord Guardiola showed how the stress got to him while City did not win any major silverware last term. Before the Club World Cup, the ex-Barcelona and Bayern chief revealed he struggled to eat during a miserable campaign. And as he heads into a tenth season in charge of City, Guardiola has the hunger to reclaim that winning feeling. He told GQ magazine in Spain: 'I'm delighted to have failed. As I am now I'm 75 years old! I'm a wreck, everything hurts right now. Pep Guardiola 'I love failures. In this society where everything has to be perfect, where you have to post your food on Instagram… 'Oh, how good, how happy I am'. 'Every day we have to prove that we're happy. Well, yes, I'm sad, I fail and I lose. So?' Despite a struggle to qualify for the Champions League, Guardiola still signed an extension to his contract that now runs for a further two seasons. 5 Guardiola plans to take a break after his next spell with City Credit: Getty But he vows that by the end of the 2026-27 campaign he'll be calling at least a temporary halt to the career – as he did after leaving Barca before joining Bayern in Germany a year later. He said: 'I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure. It's decided, more than decided. 'I don't know how long I'll stop for… a year, two years, three years, five, 10, 15, I don't know. 'But I will leave after this spell with City because I need to stop and focus on myself.' I know that after this stage with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure. It's decided, more than decided. Pep Guardiola Guardiola has this summer brought in new signings Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford as part of his re-build of a squad last season that also aged badly. And as City return to pre–season training he says he's up for the fight again – no matter his emotional struggles, adding: 'The important thing is to give it your all and do it well. 'And I haven't given up on that… next year I'm going to do better. That's what it's all about.'

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr want Man Utd outcast and Chelsea standout

Cristiano Ronaldo's team are looking to strengthen this summer (Picture: Getty Images) Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are plotting a big summer of spending as they target new signings from the Premier League. Cristiano Ronaldo's side finished third in the Saudi top flight last season and are looking to make ground on champions Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, who were runners-up. They have already agreed a deal to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea, with the 25-year-old set to finalise his move from Stamford Bridge imminently. Despite an entirely forgettable spell with the Blues, which saw him loaned out to AC Milan, they have managed to sell him to Saudi in a deal worth up to £43.7m. Al Nassr are looking to continue their spending, with another Chelsea player on their radar, with somewhat shock interest arising in Marc Cucurella. While the Blues were more than happy to get rid of Felix, they are absolutely not looking to sell the Spanish left-back who has been a key player under Enzo Maresca. The 27-year-old played 54 times for Chelsea in all competitions last season, scoring seven goals and is set to remain first choice in the next campaign. Marc Cucurella lifted the Club World Cup trophy with Chelsea (Picture: Getty Images) He made a slow start after his move from Brighton in 2022, but the Spain international has developed into a big player for the Blues. Spanish publication Marca report that Al Nassr intend to bid for Cucurella and it would likely be a huge offer from the Saudi side. However, report that Chelsea have no intention of selling their starting left-back. Al Nassr will likely have better luck in their target at Old Trafford, as they are also interested in signing Manchester United outcast Antony. Antony is available for transfer at Manchester United (Picture: Getty Images) Brazilian outlet UOL report the interest in the winger, with Manchester United hoping to get £50m for the player who spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. The Red Devils paid £82m for his services in 2022, but even £50m now feels like an ambitious price tag to put on him. More Trending Foot Mercato have reported that Al Nassr have gone as far as making an offer for the Brazil international, although did not confirm who much that bid was worth. But Brazilian outlet Antenados claim Antony has rejected a potential return to his home country, telling both clubs he is not considering a move back to Brazil at this stage of his career. Antony reportedly thanked Botafogo and Sao Paulo for their approaches but informed them he was not currently interested in a return to Brazil.
