Abdel Atty, French counterpart discuss regional developments over phone

Basant Ahmed
Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received a phone call from Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, on Wednesday, July 9, as part of the intensive periodic contacts between the two ministers to follow up on regional developments.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Minister Abdel Atty briefed his French counterpart on the latest developments regarding the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, the release of a number of hostages and prisoners, and the access of humanitarian aid to the Strip, stressing the urgent need to quickly reach a ceasefire, pointing out to the arrangements Egypt is making to host the international conference for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza following the ceasefire, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
The two ministers also discussed the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, co-chaired by France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Minister pointed out to the priority Egypt attaches to achieving a just and sustainable settlement of the Palestinian issue through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The official spokesperson added that the two ministers agreed on the need for concerted regional and international efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, de-escalate the situation, and open the way for a diplomatic process to address concerns related to Iran's nuclear program. In this context, Minister Abdel Atty emphasized the pivotal role of the E3 group in supporting the negotiating process to reach a settlement that contributes to de-escalation in the region.

Sudan's Amb. Receives LAS Official to Discuss Cooperation

Mohamed Mandour Sudan's Ambassador to the League of Arab States, Lt. Gen. Emad Eddin Mustafa Adawi, met with Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries (AFTAC), to discuss enhanced Arab-African cooperation and support for Sudanese professionals. The meeting, held at the newly inaugurated Sudanese Embassy in New Cairo, focused on arrangements for an upcoming training course for Sudanese diplomats residing in Egypt. The initiative is being organized by AFTAC and will take place at the League's General Secretariat headquarters under the supervision of Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Ambassador Adawi welcomed the initiative, describing it as a critical step toward building institutional capacity within Sudan's diplomatic corps. He praised AFTAC's ongoing role in technical training, noting previous successful programs that benefited Sudanese medical students, and commended the League's consistent support for Sudan, including high-level visits and educational contributions by the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. Both sides also discussed future initiatives, including plans to offer small-business training for displaced Sudanese women and a potential diplomatic training course in Khartoum, contingent on conditions stabilizing in the country. Tunisia leader shows Trump adviser images of starving Gaza children - War on Gaza

Tunisian President Kais Saied presented US counterpart Donald Trump's senior Africa adviser with photographs of starving children in Gaza, official video of their meeting posted late Tuesday showed. Saied told US envoy Massad Boulos, who is also the father-in-law of Trump's daughter Tiffany, that "it is time for all of humanity to wake up and put an end to these crimes against the Palestinian people". "I believe you know these images well," Saied was seen telling the envoy as he showed a photograph of what he described as "a child crying, eating sand in occupied Palestine". Saied showed Boulos several more images, saying that Palestinians in Gaza were subjected to crimes against humanity. Israel is facing mounting international pressure over the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory, where more than two million people have endured 21 months of devastating war. "It is absolutely unacceptable," Saied was heard saying as Boulos stood silently, occasionally nodding. "It is a crime against all of humanity." More than 100 aid organisations warned on Wednesday that "mass starvation" was spreading across the Gaza Strip and that their own colleagues were suffering acutely from the shortages. The head of Gaza's largest hospital said on Tuesday that 21 children had died from malnutrition and starvation in the Palestinian territory in the previous three days. Following his visit to Tunisia, Boulos flew on to the Libyan capital Tripoli on Wednesday, Tunisian media reported. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
