Emraan Hashmi Says Wife Parveen Had "Problems" With His Intimate Scenes In Films: "These Things Keep The Audience Happy"

NDTV20-07-2025
New Delhi:
Emraan Hashmi, best known for his roles in films such as Murder, Zeher, Jannat, Gangster, Aksar and Raaz: The Mystery Continues, earned him a lasting label, the "serial kisser."
What's Happening
In an earlier interview with Rediff, Emraan Hashmi addressed the label and said, "I've realised that the serial kisser tag has become synonymous with me, and I'm not going to fight it."
Sharing a story from his film Tum Mile, Emraan said, "I was watching Tum Mile and we got to the scene in which Soha (Ali Khan) and I are alone together. Now, in a typical Emraan film, I'm supposed to kiss the girl. Here I don't, and I hear the person next to me go, 'Emraan Hashmi, yeh film main bimaar ho gaya tha kya?'"
While meant as a joke, the comment highlighted how closely the image had stuck. Emraan added, "It's become like Salman Khan not taking his shirt off in a film, the audience feels cheated."
The actor said that he believes that every star has certain expectations tied to them, and in his case, the kiss is simply part of what the audience looks for.
He added, "Every actor has these 'things' that are symbolic and have to be done to keep the audience happy. Also it's a great thing. It's much better and more fun than taking off your shirt!"
Emraan Hashmi On Family's Reaction
Speaking about how his family views his on-screen image, Emraan said, "They understand that it puts food on the table. My wife and my father have problems with me getting intimate every time, but they know that these are the choices I made for longevity's sake. They might not like it, but they understand it."

'She's My Bahu': Karisma Kapoor Was ‘Family' To Amitabh Bachchan Before Engagement To Abhishek Bachchan

Last Updated: Before Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur, she was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan had once opened up on welcoming her as the Bachchan bahu. Long before Karisma Kapoor married Sunjay Kapur, and long before her name was tied to headlines for anything else, she was just a step away from officially becoming a Bachchan. In an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan opened up about his son Abhishek's then-upcoming wedding plans with Karisma Kapoor — a wedding that, as we know today, never happened. Back then, things were moving slowly, but surely. When asked whether Abhishek and Karisma's wedding would be a big, star-studded affair, Amitabh told Rediff, 'Not necessarily. The two families have to sit down together and see what kind of a wedding we both want, work out a date, etc. Babita [Karisma's mother] is away in New Zealand with her younger daughter Kareena." Both families were spread out across the globe due to work commitments. Kareena and Abhishek were shooting together in New Zealand for Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, while Karisma's father Randhir Kapoor was in Mauritius shooting Armaan, a film that also featured Amitabh Bachchan. 'As soon as they return, we will sit down to find out what we want and what the kids have in mind. Then we will go ahead with the wedding," he had said at the time. For Amitabh, the engagement itself had already felt like the biggest celebration. He had said, 'What better gift for my birthday than to see my son engaged? If both families agree then we shall certainly do it. It all depends on what Daboo and Babita want." But the most memorable moment from the interview was when Amitabh referred to Karisma not as a future daughter-in-law, but already part of the family. 'To be very honest, as far as I am concerned, for all practical purposes Lolo [Karisma] has already come home. She is my bahu, and part of our home. But yes, certain formalities have to be obviously observed." As for the wedding date, everything seemed to hinge on logistics. He said, 'As soon as we arrive at a mutually convenient date. I will have to take the opinion of all concerned. These are all social formalities. Like I said, for me, Lolo is already part of our family." However, things didn't go as planned. The engagement was eventually called off, and years later, Karisma married Sunjay Kapur. Karisma married Sunjay in 2003, and they have two children named Kiaan and Samaira Kapoor. Their marriage ended in divorce, and Sunjay passed away in June 2025. Abhishek Bachchan married Aishwarya Rai in 2007, and they have a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan. "Have been prepping to get out": Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis on her plans of retirement, opportunities for older actors

Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis opened up about her thoughts on retirement and Hollywood's treatment of older actors, drawing on her parents, icons of the industry, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, as reported by Deadline. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them... She criticised the entertainment world's treatment of older actors, particularly women. "I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age," she said, adding, "I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone. And that's very painful." Curtis continued, "I have been self-retiring for 30 years. I have been prepping to get out, so that I don't have to suffer the same as my family did. I want to leave the party before I'm no longer invited." Curtis wore huge plastic lips in the story's accompanying photoshoot to criticise the rise of cosmetic surgery in recent years, as well as the pressure women face to change themselves. Two months ago, she shared that she got plastic surgery at the age of 25 in response to a disparaging remark about her appearance and "regretted it immediately and have kind of sort of regretted it ever since." "The wax lips are my statement against plastic surgery," 'The Bear' star said of the aesthetic choice, adding, "I've been very vocal about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who've disfigured themselves. The wax lips really send it home," reported Deadline. Defending her use of the word "genocide," she added: "I've used that word for a long time and I use it specifically because it's a strong word. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human appearance. The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers -- there's a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances. And it is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want. I'm not filtered right now. The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it's hard not to go: 'Oh, well that looks better.' But what's better? Better is fake. And there are too many examples -- I will not name them -- but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people," as per the outlet. Along with the soon-to-be-released sequel to 2003's Freaky Friday, Curtis will star in a Murder, She wrote reboot; produce The Lost Bus, a film based on the 2018 Camp Fire starring Matthew McConaughey; and star in and executive produce Scarpetta, based on Patricia Cornwell's best-selling novels, which has already been picked up for two seasons on Prime Video alongside Nicole Kidman. She will also produce and star in the psychological horror film "Sender," alongside Britt Lower, David Dastmalchian, and Anna Baryshnikov, as well as in James L. Brooks' dramedy "Ella McCay," which stars Woody Harrelson, Emma Mackey, Ayo Edebiri, Rebecca Hall, and Albert Brooks, reported Deadline.
