Nissan hosts world premiere of all-new Patrol NISMO in the Middle East, elevating performance and passion

At an exclusive event in Dubai, Nissan set hearts racing with the world premiere of the most powerful-ever Nissan Patrol NISMO, alongside the regional debut of the newest Nissan Z NISMO. The event marked a major milestone for the brand's motorsport-driven NISMO line-up in the Middle East, revealing the thrill of NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International) to more than 250 guests including customers, partners, and motoring enthusiasts. The launch event celebrated Nissan's racing heritage and engineering expertise, underscoring a clear commitment to delivering high-performance, emotionally engaging vehicles designed with the region's passionate drivers in mind. The Red Ring Society was revealed as a first-of-its-kind gathering for Nissan NISMO owners and motorsport enthusiasts across the Middle East. Guests were immersed in themed experiences across curated zones – from heritage showcases of first-generation Patrol and Nissan Z NISMOs, to immersive lighting and a dramatic full-scale NISMO Ring installation, all designed to bring NISMO's performance legacy and brand story to life. Shedding light on Nissan's long-standing journey in the region at the event, Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President & President – Middle East, KSA, CIS – Nissan & INFINITI, said: 'Since the introduction of the NISMO brand to the Middle East in 2015, Nissan has proven its passion for performance and exclusivity. Today, the launch of the Nissan Patrol NISMO and Nissan Z NISMO is not just a response to growing customer demand, but a celebration of our rich motorsport legacy. This deep-rooted heritage that fuels our innovation allows us to deliver thrilling, confidence-inspiring driving experiences that resonate with enthusiasts across the region.' Satoshi Komiya, Vice President, Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., and Chief Vehicle Engineer for Patrol NISMO, added: 'With every Nissan NISMO model, we strive to deliver a vehicle that speaks directly to driving enthusiasts, merging our motorsport engineering with everyday usability. The Nissan Patrol NISMO and Nissan Z NISMO have been crafted with a deep respect for regional preferences, offering not just raw performance but also a heightened emotional connection to the road.' Tuned specifically for Middle Eastern customers and launching a new benchmark in performance, the Nissan Patrol NISMO features a 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine producing an incredible 495 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque in Sport mode – a significant increase of 70 horsepower versus the standard Patrol. Additional enhancements include a NISMO-tuned suspension, race-inspired aerodynamics with an extended rear spoiler and 22-inch forged alloy wheels co-developed with RAYS, designed for improved lateral stiffness. Motorsport-grade details such as a Formula-E-inspired rear fog lamp, red-accented bodywork, and exclusive track-focused interior finishes complete the vehicle's transformation. In a stellar debut presented by Ahmed Awad, Director of Product Marketing for Nissan Middle East, KSA and CIS, the latest Nissan Z NISMO continues Nissan's performance story with a NISMO-tuned 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine, producing 420 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque. Track-focused enhancements include a reinforced chassis, stiffer suspension, and GT-R-inspired aerodynamics, featuring a three-piece rear spoiler and an extended front fascia. In true NISMO style, both nameplates feature the signature red 'O' within the Nissan NISMO emblem and streaks across the lower body of every NISMO model – a visual embodiment of the brand's 'track to road' philosophy and full-circle performance engineering. Rooted in nearly nine decades of motorsport excellence, NISMO has carried the brand's racing legacy forward since its founding in 1984. From global circuits to regional roads, every NISMO vehicle embodies the transfer of racing knowledge – from aerodynamic innovation and stiffer chassis tuning to high-performance braking and precise handling. The all-new Nissan Patrol NISMO is now available across Nissan's authorized partner network in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Middle East, with the all-new Nissan Z available in the UAE and roll out across other markets planned in the coming months

Time running out for Pascal Wehrlein in Formula E title defence

Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein, reigning Formula E world champion, left Indonesian capital Jakarta last weekend with his hopes of back-to-back crowns in a bad shape following his fifth non-score of the season. He now has just four races left to overhaul the 69-point gap to season leader Oliver Rowland of Nissan. It's a tough ask, with just 116 points left to play for before Season 11's chequered flag in London next month - a double header on July 26-27. But the German is approaching the end of the season with pragmatism. 'I think it's a good time to reset, and have a bit of a rest,' he said in Jakarta. 'Definitely the last couple of weeks have been very busy. 'The focus is, already since Shanghai, to be honest, not on the drivers' championship anymore. Obviously, we [will] try to do as good as we can, and fight until the end. But, realistically, the gap has always been quite big. 'The focus is on the manufacturers' and on the teams' championship, which is just as important to the team than the drivers' championships. So, yeah, that's where we are, and that's what we will try to do in the last couple of races. Have a good end to the season, try to secure the two championships there.' Wehrlein came into Jakarta's ePrix on the back foot, with the event just one week after his Le Mans 24 Hours debut, the world's most prestigious endurance race. Wehrlein and teammates Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy drove the Porsche Penske Motorsport hypercar to eighth place overall. But the German-Mauritian enjoyed racing through the night in France, and then arrived in Indonesia as fresh as could be expected. 'Yeah, was a great experience,' said Wehrlein, who also logged 39 starts between 2016 and 2017 for Manor and Sauber in Formula One. 'It was a great journey because it started already a long time ago, with my first test in Daytona, and then also the race in Daytona for JDC [JDC Miller Motorsports]. The cars are awesome. I really enjoyed it. 'Obviously, since 2018-19, I was only driving in the Formula E series, so I really enjoyed coming back to other cars and you know, having that sound again. Different track. Going to bed in the evening with a small tinnitus in the ears, and just going back to something I really enjoyed in the past like [German series] DTM, for example – so racing a touring car or prototype, so it was great fun.' But, Jakarta was a step back with Wehrlein finishing 11th, immediately behind the man he has got to catch - Nissan's Rowland. It was a missed opportunity for a standout result on a day when his title rival faltered. 'It's quite a poor race after the qualifying we had,' Wehrlein said. 'We knew it was going to be difficult, that overtaking is almost impossible if you're in the same power mode [as your rival]. Yeah, just a poor qualifying, which resulted into yeah, the poor day we had. 'In the morning, we were very competitive. Yeah, the track conditions were insane. It was so dirty, actually, was it's more difficult to see something than in wet conditions just because of all the dust. Going a bit offline, there's a huge penalty, so it makes overtaking even more tricky, and it caught us in qualifying. I just went with my rear tyre a bit on the dust and lost the car. So yeah, that meant we were poor in qualifying and then after the penalty [for slowing down to create a gap] even worse.' Wehrlein and his Porsche Formula E teammate Antonio Felix da Costa head home to Berlin next month for the first of two double headers on July 12 and 13 before moving to the London finale just two weeks later.
