Ajit Doval was scheduled to attend the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues to be held in Moscow from May 27 to 29.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's planned trip to Moscow this week has been called off as he is indisposed due to seasonal flu, sources said on Monday.
Doval was scheduled to attend the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues to be held in Moscow from May 27 to 29.
He is unable to participate in the meeting due to indisposition with a seasonal flu, the sources said.
The NSA is looking forward to taking forward bilateral engagement with Russia on strategic and security matters at an early date, they said.

'India is foreign word': Ambedkar University V-C on 'Bharatiya Knowledge System' in curriculum
The vice-chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), Anu Singh Lather, has said the institution is deliberately avoiding the term Indian Knowledge System in favour of the 'Bharatiya Knowledge System' as "India is a foreign word". Ms. Lather said the AUD has recently approved 54 compulsory BKS courses that will be integrated across programmes in various departments, including history, law, heritage management and political philosophy. "We took nearly two years to finalise these courses. Every reference cited includes the original source — the Upanishads, Mahabharata, or Arthashastra, down to the chapter, verse, and line. We've done serious academic groundwork," Ms. Lather said, adding that the initiative is perhaps the most rigorous BKS model in any Indian university. These courses, Ms. Lather explained, were developed by inviting national-level experts and underwent robust academic scrutiny before receiving approval in the university's Academic Council. Positioning AUD as a thought leader under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework, Ms. Lather said, "We are not competing with other institutions. Our vision, rooted in Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideals, guides our distinct academic identity, including our approach to what knowledge deserves to be central." This bold pivot, she suggested, is part of a wider vision of reclaiming indigenous intellectual traditions while reshaping postcolonial academic discourse.

Tamil Nadu temple guard dies in police custody, AIADMK demands inquiry
Family members of a temple guard from Sivaganga who died in police custody have alleged that the cause of death of the 28-year-old was not natural and he passed away allegedly after being beaten and tortured during police interrogation. AIADMK's Palaniswami said that Ajit Kumar was reportedly arrested and interrogated by the Thirupuvanam police following a complaint that he had stolen gold jewellery.(PTI) Ajit Kumar was initially detained for questioning regarding a theft at the Madapuram Kaliamman temple in Tirupuvanam, where he worked as a security guard, the district Superintendent of Police said. AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned the incident and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and to provide compensation for Kumar's family. In a post on X, Palaniswami said, "Ajit Kumar, a security guard at the Madapuram temple in Sivagangai district, was reportedly arrested and interrogated by the Thirupuvanam police following a complaint that he had stolen 9.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery from a female devotee's car. During the interrogation, Ajit Kumar allegedly died due to police assault. His relatives, refusing to accept his body, have launched a protest." "Where is the Chief Minister who once wrote a movie review saying, "I watched Jai Bhim, it shook my heart"? Weren't you the one who blatantly lied even in the State Assembly during the Vignesh lock-up death case? Will we hear the same kind of lies as a response to this case too? If the police believe someone has committed a crime, they must arrest and produce them before the court, following due legal process. they cannot take the law completely into their own hands," he further said. "I strongly condemn this puppet Chief Minister who cannot even manage the police force that functions directly under his control. Sivaganga District SP said that after this incident, six policemen of the crime branch unit involved in the questioning were placed under suspension by the District Superintendent of Police and an investigation was underway. Kumar was picked up by police for questioning following a complaint filed by two women, Sivakami and her daughter Nikitha, who alleged that about 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery had gone missing from their car. On June 26, Niktha, from Tirumangalam in the Madurai district and her 76-year-old mother Sivakami had travelled by car to the temple. Niktha had parked her vehicle near the temple premises and reportedly handed over the keys to Ajit kumar, requesting him to park it aside. As he claimed he did not know how to drive, he is said to have arranged for someone else to move the car. After their darshan at the temple, Niktha received the car keys back from Ajithkumar. Upon checking, she found that 9 1/2 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept inside the car were missing. When she questioned Ajit kumar, he allegedly denied any knowledge of the missing valuables. Following this, Niktha lodged a complaint with the police. A special team from the Manamadurai crime branch arrived at the temple and took Ajithkumar in for questioning in a police van. Later that evening, police claimed that Ajit kumar developed sudden health complications. He was first taken to a private hospital in Sivaganga and then referred to another hospital in Madurai. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival. Kumar's family members and friends alleged that he died as a result of police assault during interrogation.

Row over kathavachaks Violence erupted in Etawah's Dandarpur village last week after two kathavachaks were allegedly humiliated, tonsured and forced to rub their noses at the feet of women, after villagers found out that they were not Brahmins. However, villagers alleged that the kathavachaks had concealed their identity when discussions were underway for their discourse in the area. According to an organiser who filed an FIR against the two kathavachaks, had their caste identity been disclosed earlier, they would not have been engaged. Reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav had lashed out at the BJP, saying the party was attempting to divide Uttar Pradesh along caste lines. "The BJP is deploying its 'planted people' with strategic surnames from neighbouring states to carry out its infiltrative politics and disturb social harmony in Uttar Pradesh," Yadav was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. The incident had triggered widespread protests by members of the 'Ahir Regiment', a socio-cultural body. Violence erupted after members of the body protested outside the Bakewar police station and shouted slogans. While some were dispersed by the cops, others engaged in a heated exchange with security personnel, leading to violence. 'The force acted with restraint and reinforcement was called in,' said circle officer Atul Pradhan. Six people were detained in connection with the case.
