It's unclear, however, for which year the project, entitled "Berlin plus," would bid for.
Previously, Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung had confirmed the plans to present the bid next Tuesday and spoke of the 2040 edition.
He shared the information said during a debate in the city council, according to Friday's edition of the Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper.
The discussion focused on the Red Bull arena's forecourt and the framework plan for the area around the stadium. Leipzig is located in Saxony.
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is also to present its plans for an Olympic bid next week.

Applicants must first submit their concepts to the German Olympic body DOSB by the end of May as part of a three-stage model. These will be checked for compliance with the minimum requirements and the corresponding plausibility by the end of September 2025.
All concepts that pass this review will be presented at the DOSB general assembly at the end of this year. However, a final decision is to be made by fall 2026.
Germany last hosted the Olympics 1972 in Munich. Following bids including from Berlin for 2000 and Leipzig for 2012 failed, while bids from Munich for the 2022 Winter Games and Hamburg for 2024 Summer Games were stopped by referendums.
The next Summer Olympics are in Los Angeles in 2028 and Brisbane in 2032. India, Istanbul, Madrid and Rome have expressed interest in 2036 or 2040.

Bayern star Oberdorf wishes Germany good luck ahead of Euros semis

Bayern Munich star Lena Oberdorf sent a video message to the Germany national team, wishing them a successful game against Spain in the women's Euro 2025 semi-final. "Alright, girls. You've made it to the semi-finals. My fingers are crossed. Just like we did against France (in the quarter-finals). Everyone together, and then we will win the game and make it to the final. Good luck," she said during an interview with broadcaster ARD. Oberdorf was not included in the Euro 2025 squad as she still recovers from a cruciate ligament injury suffered last July. "We have to lock in. I'm confident that we will see a good game," she said. "We proved at the last Euros that we are resilient. Now we've seen again that we have a tremendous mentality," she added. Germany are yet to lose a game to Spain. In eight matches so far, Germany have won five times, while in three other occasions the teams played out a draw. Their last encounter was at the Paris Olympics last summer. Germany defeated Spain 1-0 to take the bronze medal.

PSG preparing to step up negotiations for sought-after Premier League star

When PSG first targeted Illia Zabarnyi, they knew they were pursuing one of the Premier League's most intelligent and disciplined young defenders and they hoped to complete the transfer before their Club World Cup campaign even began. The 22-year-old Ukrainian had become a key figure at Bournemouth last season, starting 35 league games and playing a major role in helping Andoni Iraola's side finish 9th on the table. According to multiple reports, PSG submitted a formal €60m [$70m] offer earlier this summer, which was promptly rejected by the Premier League side as they continued holding firm on their €70m [$81m] valuation of the defender who arrived from Dynamo Kyiv in 2023. Although no new offer has gone in since then, Les Parisiens have already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Zabarnyi who has expressed his desire to join the Ligue 1 champions in time for the new season. With Lucas Beraldo unsettled due to his lack of minutes and possibly looking for a move away, PSG believe Zabarnyi fits both short-term needs and long-term squad balance especially after their treble-winning campaign added new pressure to sustain success in Europe. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has now stepped into the negotiations personally, according to RMC Sports. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp The move clearly shows how the 2024/2025 Champions League winners are intending to resolve the gap and push over the finish line without delay. Tottenham also eye PSG target While Paris are preparing to resume discussions, Tottenham Hotspur have made move of their own with Caught Offside reporting that Thomas Frank's side have spoken to Bournemouth and are ready to meet the full €70m valuation. However, the London club will have difficulty convincing Zabarnyi, who prefers PSG's sporting project. PSG are also set to receive funds from Hugo Ekitike's €95m [$111m] potential move to Liverpool via a sell-on clause which could allow them to match Bournemouth's demands without delay.
