Honiton concert goer had 'appalling' experience for £800

BBC News12 hours ago
A woman has described a partial refund offered by organisers of a Robbie Williams concert as unacceptable, after an "appalling" experience.Claudine Beard from Honiton in Devon bought three premium tickets worth more than £800 from Ticketmaster for the concert at the Royal Crescent in Bath on 13 June. She said she and two companions were denied entry due to "health and safety concerns" and could only see the top of a screen and not the stage, which she believed was "not an £800 experience".Event organiser Senbla said it was "truly sorry" and offered to refund her the difference between standard and premium tickets as a gesture of goodwill - Ms Beard said this was not "acceptable".
Ms Beard purchased the tickets last November as a Christmas present for her friend and daughter. She said: "I bought three golden circle tickets... for myself and two friends who have been an incredible support to me since my husband died last June. "One of them is a massive Robbie Williams fan and her and her daughter have gone out of their way to provide me with so much friendship and support this last year."On top of paying £801 for three tickets, she also had additional costs on transport and arranging care for their animals. She said she could not see Robbie Williams or the stage due to a huge fence blocking the view. "You can't expect somebody to spend hundreds of pounds for an experience and then not deliver on that experience due to poor organisation," she said. Upon returning home after the concert she complained to both Ticketmaster and Senbla.
Ms Beard said she was "not rolling over" because she was not alone and claimed at least 100 other people were affected.Responding to the offer of the partial refund, she said: "I don't think that's acceptable as we missed so much of the concert due to being held by the fence."She added: "I am only interested in as a minimum, full refund of £801 and ideally would go for expenses that we incurred because of our trip to Bath."Ticketmaster said in a statement it was not involved with event operations and all complaints and refunds would be issued by the organisers.
'Minor issues'
Senbla said it was "truly sorry that Ms Beard wasn't able to enjoy her evening."It said there were "minor issues" due to "most of the audience choosing to enter from the stage left entrance and despite security teams actively managing flow and directing people to the other entrance, many crowd members did not follow directions and remained in the congested area, slowing down entry from that side"."After thorough investigations, nobody was prevented from entering and there was more than enough space as evidenced by police reports and third-party medics on site," the company added.

Watch awkward moment Love Island's Meg clashes with bombshell Billykiss over Dejon in brutal game

LOVE Island's Meg went head-to-head with bombshell Billykiss over Dejon in tonight's brutal game. The Islanders took part in a a Superman challenge, donning their finest Clark Kent and Lois Lane outfits. 4 4 4 The aim of the game is for the Islanders to fly through the city, pair up with their Lois Lanes, and then lift and hold a steel girder overhead before picking up a newspaper with a headline. Together, the pairs had to decide which of the male Islanders they think have the most and least of that trait. Yasmin and Gio choose Dejon as the least dedicated. Yasmin explained her reasoning: 'I don't feel like you've dedicated yourself fully to the whole experience. "I hope you've only dedicated to getting to know one person…' Dejon remarked: 'I didn't know when all of a sudden it's become a problem wanting one woman.' Yasmin continued: 'There's other girls in here like Billykiss who picked you to go on a date because she was obviously attracted to you…' Meg interjects: 'Well he clearly doesn't want her.' Billykiss: 'Well he didn't say that. He didn't say he didn't want me." Meg hit back: "It's not up to you guys, we will decide ourselves." Love Island fans hit out at Islander branding him 'fake' and insist he's 'using girl' to stay in the villa She then said to Dejon: 'You say you're open then when she's not around you don't act like you're closed.' Dejon reacted: 'I don't care about any of your opinions, I know what I want and that's Meg." Billykiss replied: "Well close things off, even on the date when I asked if you were open and you wanted to get to know me, you said yes." Dejon fired back: "Please Billykiss, is this like your five minutes of TV or what? "I don't understand why you're still going on.' After some choice words between her and Meg, the exchange ended with Billykiss told Dejon: 'You don't want to hear the truth which is why you're feeling sour.' Viewers were full of praise for Billykiss as she finally delivered some home truths to Meg and Dejon. One wrote: "PLEASE WE NEED TO VOTE MEG AND DEJON OFF PLEASE!!" A second posted: "Meg stfu and leave the villa, don't bring your bitchy attitude to billykiss she's only saying what everyone thinks." A third said: "They're clocking Dejon it's been a month, he's not closing things off with Meg and has his tongue out whenever a new bombshell comes in. Game player." A fourth commented: "Close it then Dejon!! Like she needs to close her big mouth when kissing you. You don't want her and you know it." Another said: "Billykiss say your truth!!! Dejon is there to win, close it off if you don't want anyone else!"
