Speaking to mediapersons here, Pradhan said, 'I thank the double-engine government in Odisha for undertaking many works for the benefit of the farmers in the last year... Meanwhile, addressing the 'prhAI: Conclave on AI in Education', organised by the Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG), Chief Minister Pradhan said that AI was both inevitable and essential.
'Just like the internet, AI has become a basic necessity,' Pradhan said.
Speaking at the Conclave, Pradhan shared his thoughts on AI's transformative potential in reshaping the Indian education system.
Pradhan said that there are hardly any higher education institutions in India where AI is not discussed. He described AI as both inevitable and essential: 'Just like the internet, AI has become a basic necessity.'
The Union Minister added that increasing access to technology has created a highway of empowerment in students' lives.
He expressed optimism that India could effectively leverage AI, and said, 'India's human intelligence has the power to transform any emerging technology into an indigenous innovation.'
Pradhan shared the policy action required to prepare for the technological change, outlining efforts to build mass-scale AI literacy and support innovation in AI.
Pradhan commended the Centre of Policy Research and Governance (CPRG) for hosting this timely and much-needed policy dialogue.
CPRG is a policy research think tank that aims to promote responsive and participatory policy-making. As an Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR)-recognised institution, it has established itself as a leading voice in technology policy through its 'Future of Society' initiative. (ANI)

IISc to study feasibility of Hemavati river link canal project
Scientists from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, will study the feasibility of the Hemavati River Link Canal Project in Tumakuru district. Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti V. Somanna has recommended an inspection by experts from IISc and 'we have accepted this recommendation,' said Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who holds the Water Resources portfolio. The decision to conduct the feasibility study was taken at a meeting chaired by Mr. Somanna and Mr. Shivakumar with legislators of all parties on Friday. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Shivakumar said, 'It is not just about Kunigal, but we have to provide water to the entire Tumakuru district. We have a plan for it and we will distribute water in such a way that it is fair to all. It is our duty to take care of the interests of all taluks.' He said that all taluks were equally important to him and that a scheme would be formulated to provide water to all taluks of Tumakuru. The link project has trigged a political slugfest with the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) accusing the ruling Congress of attempting to divert water to taluks of Bengaluru South district (earlier called Ramanagara). Mr. Shivakumar said, 'We have taken feedback from representatives of the district on Hemavati link canal. Some are protesting that the link canal must not be a pipeline, but that is a decision taken by the government... Our government started this project, but the BJP had stopped it.' Talking about other projects for the region, he said, 'The BJP took back the medical college that was given to my constituency. In spite of former Chief Minister B.S. 'We must work for 9.15 hours a day for five days a week, and if we overshoot this while working remotely, it prompts a trigger,' The Economic Times quoted an employee as saying. When the HR team detects an individual's long hours it sends comprehensive emails which include details about remote working days, total hours worked, and daily averages. Beginning in November 2023, the company mandated a minimum of ten days of in-office work per month for all employees. The emails highlight that employees should make a balance between health and work-life, which benefits both personal wellbeing and professional success.
