Clemson is all over CBS Sports' 2025 college football award winner predictions
CBS Sports is forecasting a big year for several of Clemson's top playmakers.
In its annual predictions for major college football awards, CBS named Cade Klubnik, T.J. Parker and Peter Woods as expected winners of national honors in 2025.
Klubnik is projected to win the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's best quarterback. CBS' Will Backus wrote that Klubnik stands out due to his mobility, experience, and chemistry with offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. 'Klubnik also benefits from an excellent supporting class, highlighted by the ACC's top returning receiver in Antonio Williams,' Backus noted.
Parker is CBS' pick for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which honors college football's top defensive player. After leading the nation with 12 sacks last season, Parker's ability to disrupt from the edge has him poised for more recognition. 'Few are better there than Parker,' Backus wrote.
Woods is projected to win the Outland Trophy as the top interior lineman. Known for his elite athleticism and power, Woods racked up 8.5 tackles for loss and three sacks last season. 'He's the type of defensive tackle that routinely commands double teams,' Backus said, adding that his presence opens up opportunities for teammates like Parker.
Klubnik, Parker and Woods were the only ACC players included in CBS Sports' award predictions. CBS tabbed Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith as the early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

Broncos' Sean Payton makes brass Bo Nix prediction for ‘next two years'
Everyone needs a boss to believe in them and Bo Nix certainly does. Broncos head coach Sean Payton has trust in his young quarterback — a lot of it. 'He's going to be one of the top four or five quarterbacks in the league the next two years,' Payton said in an interview with Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. 'That's what we're seeing right now. In college, Nix spent three seasons at Auburn and two with Oregon. His final season with the Ducks was when he truly exploded to stardom, as he threw for 45 touchdowns with just three interceptions en route to a third-place Heisman Trophy finish. Nix led the nation in completions and completion percentage at 364 and 77.4, respectively. While he was the 12th pick in the 2024 draft, there were still five other quarterbacks taken ahead of him — Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix and JJ McCarthy. 3 Bo Nix is looking for a second-year leap this upcoming season after a promising rookie campaign. Nix was the second-most successful rookie of the bunch last season, leading the Broncos to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth, a better outcome than any rookie quarterback and their team aside from Daniels and the Commanders. Led by the 25-year-old quarterback, Payton has high hopes for the entire team, not just Nix. 3 Sean Payton is entering his third season as the Broncos' head coach. AP 'The short-term goal is winning the division,' he said. 'But this is a team capable of winning the Super Bowl. I've coached six teams that I thought could win the Super Bowl. Some went to championship games, some to the playoffs … This is my seventh team that I think has that.' Payton coached the Saints for 15 years and won one Super Bowl. He was the offensive mastermind who helped Drew Brees thrive as an all-time great quarterback.

Jaguars depth chart: Travis Hunter 1st-team WR, backup CB
As Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter prepared for the NFL draft, he left no ambiguity about his ambitions. He did not want to play on only one side of the ball. He demanded to play defense and offense. As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare for their preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, the team released its first unofficial depth chart that reflects Hunter's wishes. The No. 2 pick out of Colorado is listed as a starting wide receiver (alongside Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown) and as a backup outside cornerback (along with Jarrian Jones, behind Tyson Campbell). "It's weird, it's probably harder logistically for us as coaches to navigate it and making sure we're making use of all his time," Jaguars coach Liam Coen said at the start of training camp. "I think it doesn't bother him as much. He's pretty unfazed by some of this stuff." After putting up 96 catches, 1,258 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns to go along with 11 passes defended and four interceptions at Colorado last year, Hunter opened training camp with more offensive reps as he worked on developing chemistry with starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence. As camp went on, however, Hunter began seeing more action on the defensive side. What's more, he is putting on a juggling act as he bounces between meeting rooms and learns multiple playbooks. That mental side of the game, Hunter said, is the most challenging aspect.
