PFL hosted a pair of events this past weekend filled with sensational knockouts and submissions, including a Knockout of the Year candidate.
Friday, 2025 PFL MENA 2 took place at The Green Halls in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 11-fight event saw seven stoppages, consisting of five KO/TKOs and two submissions. Perhaps the most impressive among the bunch was a flying knee knockout from Islam Youssef.

The highlight of the night, and perhaps the year, was a spinning back elbow knockout from Gustavo Oliveira, but there was also a Von Flue choke and an Ezekiel choke that wowed the crowd, too.
The main event fights of both cards produced spectacular finishes as well, with Omar El Dafrawy submitting Daniele Miceli at PFL MENA and Patrick Habirora knocking out Danny Roberts at PFL Brussels.

UFC free fight: Relive Max Holloway's thrilling KO of 'The Korean Zombie'

In back-to-back fights, former featherweight champion Max Holloway put together two of the most incredible knockouts in UFC history. Everyone remembers the Knockout of the Year moment against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 for the BMF title, but Holloway (26-8 MMA, 22-8 UFC) put an equally-impressive knockout on record in the fight prior against Chan Sung Jung. In the main event of UFC Fight Night 255 in Singapore, Holloway put away "The Korean Zombie" with a vicious right hook in the third round. It was years before Holloway picked up a clean stoppage in the heat of battle. In 2017, Holloway finished former champion Jose Aldo for the second time at UFC 218. In the following fight, a doctor called for the stop of Holloway's fight against Brian Ortega to record his third title defense. From there, Holloway went eight fights without recording a stoppage, going 4-4 in that stretch, including a bid for the interim lightweight title. Holloway found his finishing touch again against "The Korean Zombie." It was an intense firefight that earned Fight of the Night honors. Jung came forward repeatedly, leading to hard-hitting exchanges. Holloway connected with a right hook 23 seconds into the third round, ending the fight with a walkoff knockout. Holloway returns to action in the main event of UFC 318 against Dustin Poirier for the BMF title. The fight takes place on July 19 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Before that fight, relive one of Holloway's most exciting finishes in the video above.

PFL staff member Jeff Brady dies a hero after sacrificing own life to save two children

A post shared by Greg Brady (@gregbradysd) Jeff Brady made the ultimate sacrifice to save the lives of two others. A longtime member of the MMA community and a staff member of Bellator, PFL, and Cage Warriors, Brady is being hailed a hero after he died Saturday rescuing two children from a current in the Colorado River near Yuma, Ariz. Seven hours after his disappearance, Brady's body was retrieved from the water, according to AZ Central. "My brother went out on his shield, fighting the currents while lifting his (girlfriend) Elen's two nephews up out of the water," Jeff's twin brother Greg Brady wrote Sunday on Instagram. "The younger brother (10) got swept off the sandbar. The older brother (12) dropped his fishing pole and went after him as any big brother would do! Jeff jumped off our boat and ran and dove in after them both. I was 30-40 seconds behind which felt like an eternity. I dove in and caught up to them. Jeff had been fighting the current and the panicked boys and was completely underwater holding the boys up when I swam up. I hooked his arm and pulled the boys away from him and looked um in the eyes and yelled, 'Don't you f*cking drown. Fight and swim.' "It all happened so fast. I turned and started throwing the boys off of me and told them to keep swimming. A pontoon boat appeared what seemed out of nowhere. Now Julie and I are in deep water with the boys. We get them on the boat and I turned around and Jeff was gone. Jeff gave his life for these two boys. He is an absolute hero. This happened at 11:45 am. No alcohol was involved. Just 100 percent bravery and heart." Tributes from around the combat sports world poured in once news of Brady's surfaced on social media, including 100s of fighters who voiced their heartbrokenness about the situation. A GoFundMe was launched Monday and shared by UFC legend Dan Henderson. The funds raised will go toward helping Greg Brady with expenses for Jeff's funeral and family. Brady was 51. He worked as the director of operations for Henderson's Clinch Gear and joined Bellator as a marketing and merchandising consultant in 2017. He then joined PFL in March 2024 following the brand's acquisition of Bellator. Brady also worked as the director of operations for Cage Warriors' U.S.-based events. Diego Lopes hopes for future clash vs. Yair Rodriguez: 'I will ask for that fight again'

Diego Lopes hopes to cross paths with Yair Rodriguez. Diego Lopes wants to eventually get his hands on Yair Rodriguez. After their viral heated confrontation at the UFC 314 pre-fight press conference in April, the UFC tried to book the two for the headliner of this year's Noche UFC – the promotion's annual celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Lopes (27-6 MMA, 6-1 UFC) was coming off a decision loss to Alexander Volkanovski in a championship bout for the vacant UFC featherweight belt, and Rodriguez (20-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) off a decision win over former Bellator champion Patricio Freire at UFC 314. Unfortunately, the fight wasn't able to materialize. Rodriguez said he couldn't accept the fight due to nagging injuries from the fight against "Pitbull," which didn't surprise Lopes. "I knew that the fight with Yair was going to be hard to get done, I don't need to say anything, we know his past record," Lopes told Hablemos MMA in Spanish. "We know how he sometimes sits out and wants things to fall on his lap like a gift. His past record speaks for itself. I don't need to name names, but he hasn't accepted many fights. I'm the opposite, I don't sit and wait for anything. If you want to fight, accept the fight, and let's go. So Jean Silva wants to fight, let's fight then." Lopes ended up getting booked against Silva, a fellow Brazilian, to headline Noche UFC – which goes down on Sept. 13 in San Antonio. It was quite the odyssey to get to this booking, as UFC offered him a plethora of names, including newcomer Aaron Pico. "I knew I was going to fight at Noche UFC no matter what happened in my last fight, I was going to fight there," Lopes explained. "After I lost the title fight and everything that happened with UFC changing the event to a Fight Night, they offered me, well before that, they had offered me a fight against Aaron Pico. I said no problem. Two days later, I get offered Jean Silva and I said no problem, we accepted. Two more weeks passed after they change the event to a Fight Night ad they said you vs. Yair in the main event of Noche UFC. Again, I accepted, no problem. Then UFC goes to work on the fight, and they come around again offering me Jean Silva. Jean Silva for Noche UFC? No problem. "In the position that I'm in, I don't have options. My option is to fight against the guys below me, and what a better way to show I'm deserving of my position and I deserve being considered to fight again for the title by beating the guy who has the most hype right now. Exactly what I went through is what he's going through right now. I went up a lot in level, I exceeded expectations, beat a guy in the top 5 and went on to fight for the title. I think it's the same trajectory the UFC is doing for him. Unfortunately, he has to fight me and I want to prove my arrival was no strike of luck." Although the Rodriguez fight couldn't come together, Lopes does hope to get paired against him in the future. As seen in the UFC 314 pre-fight press conference, there's plenty of bad blood between the two and unsettled business that stems from an alleged altercation between Lopes and Rodriguez's friend, former UFC fighter Marco Beltran, at a regional Mexican event years ago. "I hope so, I hope that in the future the fight happens," Lopes said. "If I win on September 13 and the UFC does the winner of Movsar Evloev vs. Aaron Pico against Volkanovski, and he's there, then I will ask for that fight again."
