The Miami Dolphins began training camp on Wednesday. While it's just training camp, football season has arrived and fans could not be more excited.
Entering training camp, there was a major concern for the Dolphins in the defensive secondary. They traded away Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Miami did get Minkah Fitzpatrick back, but there was a clear need at cornerback.
Unfortunately, one of the team's current cornerbacks has now suffered a season-ending injury.

"An MRI confirmed an ACL tear for Dolphins CB Artie Burns, who now is expected to miss the 2025 season, per source," Schefter wrote on X.
What kind of role Burns may have carved out for himself in Miami will never be known. He had a chance to earn legitimate playing time for a team who badly needed help at his position.
Last season, Burns played in just four games with the Seattle Seahawks. He recorded four tackles and three defended passes.
Back in the 2023 campaign, the 30-year-old cornerback had played in 15 games and recorded 23 tackles and two defended passes.
Even though the injury may not impact the Dolphins' defense in a huge way, it does deprive them of more talent at the cornerback position. Many believe that Miami should look into bringing in another cornerback from the free agency market.

There are quite a few good players available at the position. Among those players are Stephon Gilmore, Asante Samuel Jr., and Rasul Douglas. Perhaps this injury news will force the Dolphins to get active and bring in another player.
This is not the first major injury that Burns has suffered in his NFL career. Back in 2020, he tore his ACL. He also suffered a knee patella sprain back in 2019. Burns has also dealt with plenty of other nagging injuries that have forced him to miss games.
Hopefully, he will be able to make a full and quick recovery. He isn't getting any younger and this latest setback is a brutal blow for his career.
It will be interesting to see if Miami makes a move to address the cornerback position before the start of the regular season.

Vikings Sideline WR Justin Jefferson With 'Very Mild' Hamstring Strain

The Minnesota Vikings will keep wide receiver Justin Jefferson off the field for a while because of a mild strain of his left hamstring. Coach Kevin O'Connell said before practice on Friday that Jefferson would be re-evaluated next week. The two-time All-Pro, who has the most receiving yards in NFL history over a player's first five years, felt some tightness in his leg during the team's session on Thursday and cut short his participation as a precaution. The Vikings sent him for an MRI exam afterward. O'Connell described the injury as "very mild" and said he had no concerns about Jefferson being ready for the season opener at Chicago on Sept. 8, which is more than six weeks away. Still, considering his value to the team, the type of injury and the demands of his position, Jefferson figures to miss more than just a few days of training camp practices. Jefferson suffered a significant strain of his right hamstring in 2023 that caused him to miss seven games. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips calls teammate 'a future Defensive Player of the Year candidate'

Jaelan Phillips has only played a handful of games with Chop Robinson, but he's seen enough of the Miami Dolphins' 2024 first-round pick to feel like he's a star in the making. "I truly feel like Chop is going to be one of the best players in the league very soon," Phillips told reporters Friday. "I think he already is supremely talented, but the more comfortable he gets, the more confident he gets, and everything he's doing, I think he's a future Defensive Player of the Year candidate." Robinson, 22, was forced into a significant role as a rookie with Bradley Chubb unavailable all year due to a knee injury suffered late in the 2023 season. The Dolphins became even more reliant on the first-year pass rusher when Phillips suffered a season-ending knee injury of his own in Week 4. But after a slow start with zero sacks in September and October, Robinson emerged as one of the NFL's most productive pass rushers in the back half of the 2024 season. Between Weeks 10 and 18, Robinson was credited with 42 quarterback pressures by PFF, second most over that stretch behind only the Dallas Cowboys' four-time Pro Bowl rusher Micah Parsons. With Chubb and Phillips both healthy and in training camp, the Dolphins are hopeful that finally having the trio at Anthony Weaver's disposal will result in chaos in opposing backfields. "I think you'll see things open up a little more, so it will be exciting," Phillips told reporters in June. "[Robinson's] improvement from last year to this year is like so noticeable, it's insane. Especially if you really know the nitty gritty of it, so I'm really proud of Chop, really excited to see how he's going to keep progressing. Obviously, Bradley (Chubb) looks great, I feel really good. It's going to be fun.' The Dolphins finished the 2024 season with 35 sacks, sixth fewest in the NFL.

Rodrigo De Paul joins Inter Miami from Atletico Madrid

Inter Miami have completed the signing of midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Atletico Madrid. The 31-year-old will link up with his Argentina international team-mate and close friend Lionel Messi – who is out of contract at the end of the 2025-26 season. The Athletic reported De Paul had been on the Miami's radar for some time but interest accelerated following Atletico's exit from the Club World Cup last month. 'Rodrigo de Paul is leaving Atletico Madrid and will continue his professional career at Inter Miami,' an Atletico statement read. Miami is yet to confirm official contract and transfer terms. The engine is on ⚙️🔥 — Inter Miami CF (@InterMiamiCF) July 25, 2025 As a high-profile, highly-paid player, De Paul's arrival raises questions over Sergio Busquets' long-term future in Miami. Busquets, Messi and Jordi Alba hold the three Designated Player (DP) spots on Miami's roster, and Alba signed a new deal earlier this year with Messi soon expected to follow suit. Advertisement Until a DP spot opens up, Miami are capped at paying a total of $850,000 in fee plus salary for De Paul in 2025. A DP spot could open up if Busquets retires midseason or De Paul could start on a more modest, cap-friendly salary now before negotiating a new deal in 2026. De Paul has been a first-team regular for Atletico since joining the Spanish club from Udinese in 2021. The midfielder helped Argentina win the World Cup in 2022, while he was also a part of their Copa America victories in 2021 and 2024. He featured in all but four of Atletico's La Liga matches last season, as they secured a third-place finish. He also played in each of his side's Club World Cup matches this summer prior to their group-stage exit. De Paul has recorded 14 goals and 26 assists in 187 appearances for Simeone's side, setting up 10 goals in 53 matches during the 2024-25 campaign. Ahead of the World Cup in 2022, De Paul said he is close friends with Messi, and the manner in which he plays for Argentina often complements the Miami forward. Speaking about his playing relationship with Messi, De Paul said in 2022 his aim is to 'make him run less' and give him 'more space to play with.' Simeone praised De Paul after he played a key role in Atletico winning eight consecutive La Liga matches from November to January during the 2024-25 season. 'He's an established footballer, a world champion,' he said. He's very important for us, with a lot of personality, and we hope he continues this way. We'll demand this from him because it's what we need.' After coming through the youth ranks at Racing Club, De Paul joined Valencia in 2014, before going back on loan to the Argentinian club in 2016. He made 44 appearances for Valencia before departing for Udinese later that year, where he went on to play 184 times.
