Vivo X Fold 5 book-style foldable to be launched in India soon: Check specs

Chinese smartphone brand Vivo has confirmed that its upcoming book-style foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5, will be powered by last year's flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Ahead of the launch, Vivo has confirmed several key details of the smartphone including camera details, battery capacity and more. The smartphone will also feature a new customisable 'Shortcut Button.'
Vivo X Fold 5 was launched in Vivo's home country last month, and the company recently confirmed that the smartphone will be launching in India soon, likely later this month.
Vivo X Fold 5: Details
Vivo has confirmed that the X Fold 5 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, offering up to 30 per cent improvement in performance and 25 per cent better power efficiency compared to its predecessor. The smartphone will pack a 6,000mAh battery and will support 80W fast wired charging and 40W wireless charging via compatible wireless chargers.
As for the design, the upcoming foldable will feature a sleek build measuring 9.2mm when folded and 4.3mm when unfolded. The smartphone will weigh 217g and will be available in a Titanium Grey colourway. The company also said that the smartphone will feature a 'Kinematic Hinge' mechanism which has been internally tested for 6,00,000 folds. Another key highlight is the new Shortcut Button which the company said will offer instant access to essential tools.
For imaging, Vivo X Fold 5 will feature a camera system co-developed by the German optics brand Zeiss, featuring a 50MP primary sensor. The main camera will be accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
On the software front, Vivo X Fold 5 will get support for the company's proprietary Origin Workbench platform that is said to support up to five concurrent tasks, all fully active and visible on the display. To further enhance productivity, the X Fold 5 will also get Vivo's AI Productivity Suite and several other AI-powered image editing tools such as AI Image Expander, AI Magic Move, AI Erase, and AI Reflection Erase.

Honor X9C: What to expect According to the company, the Honor X9C will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The smartphone will feature a 7.98mm side profile, sporting a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The display also features 3840Hz PWM dimming technology with TUV Rheinland certification for both Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light standards. For imaging, the Honor X9C will feature a 108MP main camera with OIS. It will also offer several AI-powered imaging tools such as AI Motion Sensing, AI Eraser, High-res Mode and more. The Honor X9C smartphone will pack a 6,600mAh battery which will support 66W wired charging support. The device will run on Android 15-based MagicOS 9. The company said that the operating system features intuitive gesture-driven navigation, smart personalisation capabilities, and enhanced performance optimisation that creates a truly personalised smartphone experience. Only 15 out of the 129 brands that currently sell electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in China will be financially viable by 2030, as intense competition forces consolidation and some to exit the market, consultancy AlixPartners said on Thursday. These 15 brands are projected to account for approximately 75% of China's EV and plug-in hybrid market by the end of the decade, each averaging annual sales of 1.02 million vehicles, AlixPartners said, without specifying brand names. However, consolidation in China is expected to proceed more slowly than in other markets, said Stephen Dyer, head of AlixPartners' automotive practice in Asia, because local governments may support non-viable brands due to their importance to regional economies, employment and supply chains. "China is one of the most competitive NEV (new energy vehicle) markets in the world, with intense price wars, rapid innovation, and new entrants constantly raising the bar," Dyer said. "This environment has driven remarkable advances in technology and cost efficiency, but it has also left many companies struggling to achieve sustainable profitability." China's automotive market, the world's largest, is currently facing a price war and significant overcapacity, both of which are straining profitability. Aside from BYD and Li Auto, no other publicly listed Chinese EV maker has achieved full-year profitability. Chinese regulators have called for automakers to halt the price war. However, Dyer said it would likely continue, but through "hidden" factors such as insurance subsidies and zero-interest financing rather than direct price cuts. The capacity utilisation ratio at Chinese car plants fell to an average of 50% in China last year, the lowest in a decade, pressuring profits.

The report in the South China Morning Post claims that China has developed hypersonic missiles capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 20, 20 times the speed of sound. With this technology, China can now launch missiles from space, including from existing or small space stations. China's might has been so upgraded that The design of these space-launched missiles is so advanced that conventional air defence systems may not be able to detect or intercept them in time. By the time conventional systems identify the trajectory of the missile, it is already very close to its target. It wont be wrong to say that China has got its Brahmastra. How does this technology work? The technology behind these missiles is based on hypersonic glide vehicles (HGVs), which operate in two stages. If China installs such missiles in any of its space stations, they can be controlled by command centres on Earth. These command centres can remotely launch hypersonic glide vehicles from space stations. The glide vehicles, traveling at extremely high speeds, will first re-enter Earth's atmosphere and then head toward their targets, making their trajectory unpredictable and difficult to intercept. China launched its hypersonic missile program in 2010. By 2017, it had conducted the first successful test and soon after began working on technology to launch missiles and rockets from space. According to an American scientific report, China tested its hypersonic missile program again in 2021, and now, in just 15 years, China's hypersonic missile capability has moved from theoretical calculations to operational reality in space. Can this threat be countered? There are some ways to counter such threats from Chinese space-launched missiles. For example, it is possible to destroy the satellite or orbital platform from which the missile was launched. Along with the United States, China, and Russia, India has also acquired technology known as anti-satellite weapons to destroy satellites in space.
