Oasis drummer looks totally unrecogniseable 30 years after he was kicked out of the band
Tony McCarroll attracted a small crowd when he played at a quaint Welsh pub, followed by a Q&A session on his time with the iconic band.
Often referred to as the forgotten man of Oasis, Tony, now looking totally different from the mop-topped percussionist of the 90s, shared his stories at Ye Olde Butchers Arms, in Cardiff, to an audience of around 60 people.
The venue is a mere four miles from the Principality Stadium, where more than 70,000 fans will gather for the first night of the eagerly awaited Oasis reunion tour on Friday.
Tony happily posed for photos and tickets for his talk were priced at £23.50. The 54-year-old has previously described his decision to leave Oasis as the "biggest mistake of my life".
Although it is thought he didn't have much say in the matter as he was essentially sacked by songwriter Noel Gallagher after recording the debut LP Definitely Maybe and before most of the second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? was recorded, reports the Daily Star.
His departure was announced in April 1995 when Alan White replaced him on drums. Tony had more disagreements with Noel than Liam, as Noel felt his drumming wasn't up to scratch for the band. In the 2016 Oasis documentary Supersonic, Noel expressed his desire to make changes before the second album.
Speaking about Tony, he said: "Yeah, I probably made up my mind knowing that Champagne Supernova was coming up and Don't Look Back in Anger and Wonderwall, that he wasn't going to be able to play those songs. It'd become apparent recording Definitely Maybe, we spent a lot of time mucking about trying to get the drums right, and it was never right."
However, during a Q&A event in 2024 reported by the Mirror, Tony revealed that relations had improved with some band members, particularly Liam who gifted him tickets to the Definitely Maybe solo tour last year.
Tony stated: "You know things are thawing out as we get older. I had a massive guest list from him (Liam) a couple of months ago for 11 of us from the family when he did the Definitely Maybe tour. When I asked for 11 for my guest list I do think he may well have realised (for me) that is my celebration. That is my 'Put a cap on it. I am done after this'. And I think I am, yeah... until I get a phone call."
Tony, aged 53, departed the band following Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe. In a legal dispute in 1999, he received a one-off payment of £550,000 after suing the Manchester rockers for millions in unpaid royalties.
Oasis will introduce a new drummer, Joey Waronker, for their 2025 tour. He has previously played on one of Liam's tours when he was on the road with John Squire.

Tickets for the Oasis reunion sold out across all venues due to huge demand when they went online earlier in the year. However, there are still several options available for fans trying to snag a last-minute spot. Limited last-minute tickets can be bought from the official Ticketmaster resale site, where fans who can no longer go sell their seats, although these tend to go into and out of stock quickly. Elsewhere, resale sites like Viagogo, Vivid Seats, StubHub and Twickets are selling tickets for various dates with prices from £121, although fans should always bear in mind that many official sites, such as Ticketmaster and Live Nation, discourage the purchase of resale tickets.

Meanwhile, Nina Lucas and Summer Spellman are wracked with guilt over an encounter they had while high on LSD, when they believed they left a man for dead. That man, it's now been confirmed, was Gary, Mirror reports. Nina recalled pushing a man who she believed was threatening her, and moments later, viewers were shown Gary unconscious in hospital as she said she needed to know who the man was. While Gary lies in a critical condition, his attacker seems determined to cover their tracks. According to spoilers, the mystery individual, believed to be a woman, has given medical staff a fake name and claimed to be Gary's next of kin, preventing police from notifying his family. Noel Gallagher's pal believes Oasis may release new music after tour success
EXCLUSIVE: Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley is friends with Noel Gallagher and hopes Oasis will bring out new music in 2026 following the staggering success of the reunion tour The countdown is now on for the first show of the Oasis world tour but once the gigs begin the next question for many fans will centre around if the band will bring out new material. Rumours have persisted for months since the Noel and Liam reunion was announced about possible tracks or demos or recording sessions, but so far nothing is confirmed to be happening. Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley, a close friend of Noel, certainly thinks it is likely though. Jo said: 'I wouldn't be surprised if they've written something, if Noel has written something new, because I think he'd want to prove himself. He's very ambitious. He really wants to be respected. I'd love them to do new material that was really good. You know, we've had Pulp just coming out and doing an amazing album. 'Blur have done an amazing album. You've got Suede, all their peers are coming up with stuff. They're still creative. They're not ancient men, you know, they're artists who want to strive to be great, and they've both(Noel and Liam) done that with their individual careers as well. They're really committed. Noel has been so committed to making new music all the time. So I don't know how they could not try and do something new. I'll keep my fingers crossed, and I'll hope that it's brilliant.' 6 Music DJ Steve Lamacq, who used to champion Oasis in the Nineties on Radio 1 alongside Jo said : " I'd quite like to hear a grown up version of Oasis in some respects, but I'm not sure that's what Oasis would do best. Other sources the Mirror spoke to have predicted a new track could be added to a new greatest hits album if one came out in 2026. One insider said: 'Now the band are back they may want to bring out a new greatest hits which reflects what Noel and Liam consider the best songs, spanning every era and even B-sides.' Since warring brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher called a truce to their 15-year feud and announced a huge stadium world tour, their songs and albums have re-entered the top end of the charts including their albums Definitely Maybe and (What's The Story) Morning Glory? and singles collection Time Flies 1994-2009. Plans were previously underway for a new greatest hits compilation which would be curated by Liam and Noel rather than contain all of the band's singles. But it was cancelled at the last minute some time ago. One album that is definitely coming out is deluxe new formats of iconic album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - with unplugged versions of five iconic tracks. The move is to celebrate the era-defining album's landmark 30-year anniversary, one of the reasons it is thought the Gallaghers have also decided to tour this year The new version of their second LP will feature new unplugged versions of five classic recordings Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Acquiesce and Champagne Supernova. Released on October 3 on Big Brother Recordings, (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) is available for pre-order on limited edition 2CD and 3LP formats as well as digital formats. This special anniversary format follows last summer's release of the 30th Anniversary Edition of Definitely Maybe which reached number 1 in the Official UK Album Chart for the second time in that album's history.
