Coronation Street fans think they know who attacked Gary Windass after shock twist

Gary is in hospital in a coma, despite someone using his phone to make it look like he's fine.
Gary Windass' dramatic disappearance on Coronation Street is finally set to be explained next week, according to new spoilers, but many viewers believe they've already cracked the case.
It was revealed last week that Gary is in hospital in a coma, despite someone using his phone to make it look like he's fine. Meanwhile, Nina Lucas and Summer Spellman are wracked with guilt over an encounter they had while high on LSD, when they believed they left a man for dead. That man, it's now been confirmed, was Gary, Mirror reports.

Nina recalled pushing a man who she believed was threatening her, and moments later, viewers were shown Gary unconscious in hospital as she said she needed to know who the man was.

While Gary lies in a critical condition, his attacker seems determined to cover their tracks. According to spoilers, the mystery individual, believed to be a woman, has given medical staff a fake name and claimed to be Gary's next of kin, preventing police from notifying his family.
But before the truth is revealed on screen, fans have taken to social media to share their theories, and some are convinced they've solved the mystery.
Nina, though haunted by the incident, appears to be unaware the victim was Gary, suggesting she may not be behind the cover-up. However, viewers are questioning whether Summer knows more than she's admitting.
Other names in the frame include Brody Michaelis and his mother Lou, especially after Lou's tense exchange with Gary.
Gary also previously clashed with Brody's father Mick, who is currently in prison, prompting fans to speculate whether Mick could have orchestrated the attack from behind bars.

"A Kit/Brody cover up," one viewer speculated online, while another posted: "It's either Brody or a drugged-up Summer." A third said confidently: "Summer has his phone I will bet."
Theories around Lou and Brody have also gathered momentum. One fan pointed out: "Lou is texting Maria. I'd say Lou and/or Brody brought Gary to the hospital themselves and told the nurses they were related."

Another argued: "I don't think it's Brody. I don't think he's clever enough for that. Maybe someone from the prison who is on Mick's side and is watching Lou and knows something. I dunno. I feel it's an adult though."
There's also speculation that Lou could have accessed Gary's phone. "Though the only one that can get into Gary's phone is Lou, she remembers his code," one viewer observed.

But others believe the Nina and Summer LSD twist may be a red herring.
One fan proposed: "Well... I'm wondering if the Summer/Nina thinking they battered someone is just a red herring and it was actually Debbie. When she was really upset and got behind the wheel."
Still, some aren't ruling out Nina entirely. As one user put it: "I guess if she took him by surprise with a shove and he fell and hit his head in the wrong place it wouldn't really take much."
With the mystery deepening and theories multiplying, fans will have to tune in to see how it all plays out. Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

His then-wife, June, walked into the family home in Buckhaven, Fife, in 2008 and found their lifeless bodies. Thomson was caged for a minimum of 17 years for the depraved murders. We previously told how June, who now stays at a secret address, lives "in terror" at the prospect of Thomson being freed. But a parole hearing this month led to the sicko being denied freedom. Richard Baker, Labour MP for Glenrothes and Mid Fife, has told how Thomson's parole bid has been knocked back, as reported by the Daily Record. He said: "Rab Thomson, who killed his son, seven, and disabled daughter in Buckhaven in 2008, has been denied parole. "My wife, Claire Baker MSP and I, who wrote to the board seeking this outcome, welcome the decision. I'm sure many people in Levenmouth will feel the same." June fled violent Thomson after suffering beatings and sexual assaults at his hands. She said: "I've lived in terror of this day coming, knowing that Rab would apply for parole the second he possibly could. Two men rushed to hospital after rammy outside Scots pub "Rab always warned me that if I dared to leave him, I would regret that day for the rest of my life. "If I had only known he intended murdering Michelle and Ryan, I would have stayed and put up with the continued rapes and beatings inflicted on me, rather than lose my precious children. "I still hear their screams of terror in my nightmares when they realised it was their own father stabbing them." June added: "No amount of time in jail would suffice for what he had done, but just 17 years for what he did to my children was not nearly long enough. All this time, I have lived in dread of him getting free. "Now that day is becoming a reality. After years of beatings, I am almost blind. I also suffer from severe mobility and balance problems."

'Prada's sandal scandal statement gives my culture credit - but it's not enough'

Following Prada's guilty Instagram post that names the Indian design of their newest Milan menswear sandal, South Asian creator Pranjal Jain instructs India to be on the offensive with stronger GI tags Attempting to avoid the wave of backlash that followed the 'Scandinavian scarf' trend, luxury designer Prada issued a statement which acknowledging the South Asian inspiration behind its viral men's "leather footwear" - but is it too little, too late? During Milan's Fashion Week, Prada launched its Menswear Spring/Summer collection for 2026, which featured summer sandals advertised as "leather footwear". The one catch being that they were identical replicas of India's Kolhapuri chappal - traditional, hand-crafted leather slippers often tanned using vegetable dyes. ‌ Made in regions Maharashtra and Karnataka, the T-strapped sandals are worn by farmers, workmen and the royals of India, their origin tracing back to the 12th century Kolhapur. Known to be made without nails or synthetic materials, these sandals are both durable and eco-friendly - a must for current and young consumers. ‌ READ MORE: TAHIRA ALI: 'Fast fashion is selling Desi clothing without acknowledging our culture' So when the models of Milan walked the runway of the world's biggest fashion week, Indians and other South Asians alike were notably upset by the repeated crime of Western brands pocketing both profits and credits for an age-old design. The main argument of South Asian consumers and critics was that these "modern day sandals" were available at many Indian stores, and for a fraction of the price. The inflation of the 'every man's' shoe for a luxury market appeared to add fuel to the current debate on the European stripping of Desi culture. In Prada's comment section, one user wrote: "If you don't credit the place or culture it cam from, it's not "inspiration" anymore, it's just copying," with many sharing their anger at the use of term "inspired" for a design over 800 years old. Another named Jai sarcastically said: "You guys, everything is ok. They're in contact with the chamber of commerce. It's history repeating itself". @medanmeicority added "You will find this in street shops for 350 INR - that is approx. four dollars". Cultural and fashion critic, Pranjal Jain, spoke to the Mirror on how South Asian designs are treated, stating her agreement in the righteous anger of her community over Prada's lacklustre Instagram post naming the sandals as chappals a week after their global debut. Though she acknowledged the economic pressure of South Asian designers to fold to pressures of catering to Western tastes (to compete with their repurposed designs), she reinforced the importance of people of the diaspora "to speak out against it, but also thinks that that's only step one". ‌ "I think India and South Asia needs to have a stronger offence than defence. So I don't think we should be acting from a reactionary position, we should be acting from an active position". Her solution? Geographic Indicator (GI) tagging being made a legal enforcement onto brands wishing to draw from cultural designs. GI tagging is the category protection of intellectual property, known to have passed in India "almost a couple decades ago," said the fashion writer, who gave the example of basmati rice. By GI tagging products, people that "are actually working with artisan communities and that craft can [help designs] remain in the region it's from," said Pranjal. ‌ "On a global scale, if we were to hold these giants to GI tagging, they're obligated to work with artisans and actually pay them fairly," she said. Interestingly, following the backlash, a Prada spokesperson told the Mirror: "At Prada Group, we have always celebrated craftsmanship, heritage and design traditions. Prada acknowledges that sandals inspired by traditional Indian footwear made in specific districts in Maharashtra and Karnataka, India, were featured in its Men's 2026 Spring Summer show in Milan". They also shared: "We are committed to responsible design practices, fostering cultural engagement, and opening a dialogue for a meaningful exchange with local Indian artisan communities as we have done in the past in other collections to ensure the rightful recognition of their craft. We are in contact with the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture on this topic." They added that the designer was not opposed to a "meaningful exchange with local Indian artisans," a sure indicator of Pranjal's hopes for the future of South Asian artistry. Prince Harry's pre-wedding tensions with Queen revealed as 'Meghan Markle's sincerity questioned'

A new book claims that the late Queen was "dismayed" by Prince Harry's behaviour in the run-up to his wedding. Over seven years on from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's marital union, fresh allegations have emerged about strains prior to their wedding ceremony. While it is common knowledge that the lead-up to their May 2018 wedding faced choppy waters, particularly with Meghan's father withdrawing from attending at the eleventh hour, a Royal biographer has now unveiled claims that tensions ran higher than previously thought. ‌ According to the author, behind the scenes, Prince Harry had allegedly caused the late Queen Elizabeth II to feel 'dismayed' by certain elements of the wedding plans, even suggesting that he nearly jeopardised his relationship with his grandmother. ‌ Royal author Sally Bedell Smith alleges that she was informed by the now-deceased Lady Elizabeth Anson – a party planner with high society links and the Queen's cousin – that the Queen harboured "very worried" feelings regarding her grandson. The veracity of Meghan's intentions also came under scrutiny, reports the Mirror. The comments attributed to Lady Anson, who passed away in 2020, refer to events that unfolded over seven years ago. However, even as time has marched on since Harry and Meghan exchanged vows, Jennie Bond, ex-BBC Royal correspondent, relayed to the Mirror that Meghan recently appeared to revisit these past incidents first. Jennie Bond conveyed her thoughts: "There have been too many reports about tensions in the weeks running up to Harry and Meghan's marriage to discount them. I think the old saying 'there's no smoke without fire' holds true." "Lady Elizabeth Anson was certainly a very well-connected and informed source for these latest reports, which suggest that the Queen felt Harry was rushing into a marriage too quickly. "Worse than that, it seems the Queen and other members of the Royal family doubted Meghan's sincerity and found her very difficult to deal with. ‌ "It's extremely sad to think that the situation also soured the late Queen's relationship with her very much loved grandson, Harry: a young man she had nurtured and guided through the very worst time of his life, the death of his mother. "Is it fair that all this is being brought up so many years later? Maybe not, but then perhaps Meghan shouldn't allude to lies being told about her eight years ago, which she did in a recent podcast. ‌ "The fact is the royal story is always a source of curiosity and will sell books and papers, especially when there is a whiff of discord or scandal." One bombshell claim made in Bedell-Smith's Substack is that the former monarch had been left shocked that Harry had asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to perform the wedding ceremony without asking the Dean of Windsor first and that the now Duke of Sussex thought his grandmother could just "do what she wants". According to Bedell Smith, Lady Anson revealed that Harry had "blown" his relationship with the Queen. ‌ Several months before the wedding, Lady Anson recounted to her: "She [the Queen] said she was really upset. I was shocked when the Queen told me this, how she was so saddened. I had no idea about the conversation, that he was rude to her for ten minutes. "They had tea with her the day before yesterday. She was trying to find out about the wedding dress, and Meghan wouldn't tell her." ‌ However, closer to the wedding day, Bedell Smith claims Lady Anson informed her that Harry and the Queen had "patched things up" after he shared details of the upcoming wedding with her. Bedell Smith recounts Lady Anson describing Harry as "besotted and weak about women." Jennie now believes these claims indicate a significant change in Harry's character. She commented: "It does seem quite out of character for Harry to disrespect his grandmother and, if he did, it is a sorry reflection of how his relationship changed him. "He always claimed they had something special, and that she could confide in him in a way she did not with other family members. He suggested he was in some way her sure 'she had the right people around her.'". "The late Queen was meticulous about including both Harry and Meghan in statements she made about the situation and made it clear she would always regard them as part of the family. Whether she would still feel quite so magnanimous today is something we shall never know. I just hope Harry now feels it was all worth it." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
