Jaguars NFL draft: Travis Hunter works out as wide receiver at Colorado Pro Day
Whether or not Travis Hunter will actually be available when the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock in a few weeks remains to be seen, and is probably unlikely, but the Heisman Trophy winner worked out at the Colorado Pro Day, and did so as a wide receiver.
Hunter has openly stated that he wants to play both cornerback and wide receiver at the NFL level, and after being listed as a cornerback at the NFL combine, perhaps working out solely as a receiver at his Pro Day was his way of saying, don't forget about him on offense.
According to ESPN's Matt Miller, Jordan Reid, and Field Yates, depending on which team you talk to, you're going to get a different opinion on where Hunter should primarily play--although Yates did mention that based on what he's hearing, there is a "slight" lean towards there being a higher ceiling on offense.
At the NFL league meetings, Jaguars' head coach Liam Coen was asked about Hunter and provided some insight into how Jacksonville might utilize him.
'I think you have to be fluid as an organization,' Coen said via Jaguars on Sports Illustrated. "Because of his diversity, what he can do, the amount of snaps he plays.
"He's going to play both sides of the ball and that has to be an organizational buy-in from the coaches, the strength staff, the athletic training, sports performance, everybody has to be involved, as well as the coaches."
As a receiver last season, Hunter caught an impressive 79% of his 121 targets, averaging 13.1 yards per catch with 15 touchdowns, according to PFF. Regardless of what side of the ball he is on, Hunter's ball skills stand out.
So, how did Hunter look during his Pro Day?
"There was no highlight-reel or jaw-dropping catch from Hunter, but everything looked routine," wrote NFL.com's Eric Edholm. "The best grab of the day was probably by Horn with a tumbling snag of Sanders' pass down the seam about midway through the performance. Hunter, meanwhile, consistently showed elite foot quickness, change-of-direction skills and the ability to catch the ball -- without gloves, mind you -- outside his frame with ease."
If the Jaguars are going to have any hope of landing Hunter, they likely need two quarterbacks to be drafted before them. Cam Ward will be one, but whether or not Shadeur Sanders will be taken in the top-five remains to be seen.
For what it's worth, most mock drafts right now have Sanders going outside the top five, but of note, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants were out in full force for the Pro Day.

He is joined by center Maurkice Pouncey and outside linebacker Joey Porter. Former Auburn running back Tank Bigsby looking for a big year three with Jaguars
Former Auburn running back is getting a bulk of the Jaguars carries in practice per reports. Former Auburn running back Tank Bigsby is looking to help lead the Jacksonville Jaguars back to the postseason. Bigsby led the Jaguars in rushing last season with 766 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He made a big leap in his season in the NFL. In his rookie season, he rushed for just 132 yards and two touchdowns despite appearing in 17 games for the Jaguars. Another big leap in 2025 could mean his first 1,000-yard season as a professional. Training camp has begun for all 32 NFL teams, and the former Tigers running back has been a standout for the Jaguars. John Shipley of Jacksonville Jaguars on SI, described it as 'The Tank Bigsby Show." According to Shipley, Bigsby took a bulk of the carries for the team in practice over Travis Etienne. Bigsby and Etienne are both battling it out for the top running back spot. It says a lot that new head coach Liam Coen was giving Bigsby most of the carries. It should be noted that Jacksonville was not in pads during the training camp session. They were just in helmets and shorts. Jacksonville is looking to rebound from another disappointing season. The Jaguars went 4-13 last season and went 9-8 the season before. They have not made the playoffs since the 2022 season. Auburn fans should be excited to see what Bigsby can do this preseason as he attempts to stake his claim as the Jaguars' top running back. He is one of the most talented running backs to play for the Tigers. During his three seasons with Auburn from 2020-22, Bigsby rushed for 2,906 yards and 25 touchdowns. Bigsby is ranked No. 8 all-time at Auburn in yards and tied for eighth in touchdowns with Jarquez Hunter. Panthers 2025 training camp tracker: Top takeaways and observations from Day 4
After cooling down in a walkthrough on Friday, the Carolina Panthers got back to some real on-field action this morning. Here are the top takeaways and observations from Saturday's session of training camp . . . Derrick Brown is getting there Defensive lineman Derrick Brown was absent from the few first days of camp due to personal reasons. Turns out, the personal reason was the birth of his fourth child. Now that he's back, Brown is ready to take on new life for 2025 after sustaining a season-ending knee injury in 2024. He was asked if he's close to 100 percent yet. "I feel like it. Gimme a few weeks, I feel like it," Brown replied. "Right now, they got a great plan in place, just gettin' back in shape. Being able to transition back into being able to play the plays I've played before and be there for the team. I expressed my opinion to them and they've been nothing but compliant on when it came to that." Head coach Dave Canales also offered an outlook on Brown. "We're gonna just kinda ramp him up each day and just kinda give him a little bit more, dose him a little bit higher," Canales told reporters. "He's gotta be ready to play Week 1, so we'll continue to grow the capacity in practice as we go." Hunting down a spot Canales also talked about veteran wideout Hunter Renfrow, who had himself quite a day on the practice field. He said that the former Pro Bowler has looked "great," then explained why. "It's just the Hunter Renfrow I remember," Canales stated. "He looks healthy. I think everyone who's watched football over the last four or five years remembers what he looks like, and he's really playing in top form right now. I'm really excited to have him here and to have his family, which is right down the road here after this practice, just to be able to connect with him. And it's a great story that's unfolding right before our eyes." Renfrow missed the 2024 season due to ulcerative colitis. He signed with Carolina shortly following the 2025 NFL draft. A bigger role for a slimmer Sanders Tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders said he's feeling more confident as a pro, both on and off the field, entering Year No. 2. Part of that confidence stems from some newfound speed, thanks to his offseason weight loss. "I was probably like 255 [pounds] last year, like 238 right now," Sanders stated. "So definitely moving faster. Being able to get in and out my breaks better as well." Sanders will have to step up this summer in the absence of starter Tommy Tremble, who is currently on the active/physically unable to perform list as he recovers from back surgery.
