"Don't compare him to me, because he's not me, he's Charlie, OK?" These words came straight out of 15-time major winner, Tiger Woods, during his interview with Bridgestone Golf's "Another Golf Podcast."
Tiger has achieved some remarkable success during his career. 82 PGA Tour wins, 15 Majors, and numerous record-breaking moments while he battled through his injuries. But the 49-year-old never wanted his son to carry the weight of his own legacy.

As reflected in various media appearances, Tiger wanted Charlie to have space, time, and freedom to build something entirely his own.
Turns out, Charlie didn't need much time at all. At just 16, his rise has been swift and undeniable.
Tiger's son Charlie is climbing up the success ladder
It started last month when Charlie secured his first AJGA win, climbing over 500 spots in the amateur rankings to land at No. 14. Over three days, he posted rounds of 70, 65, and 66, finishing 15-under-par.
His winning round came with eight birdies and two bogeys. And the 16-year-old knew exactly what it meant.
"Now I can say I have one, and Dad can't say I don't," Charlie joked after winning the AJGA tournament. But there was no time to dwell.
The younger Woods took that momentum straight into Florida's 108th Amateur Championship, a tougher field and a higher-level test.

The teenager carded a 2-over 74 during the first round, but improved on Friday. Woods opened with a two bogies at holes No. 1 and No. 3 but bounced back with a birdie at No. 9 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 12. All told, he signed for an even par 72 and entered the weekend in contention for another title.
Unfortunately, Saturday's third round was a setback. Woods struggled with a triple bogey on No. 8 dooming his round, and his chances.
Charlie Woods carded a 5-over 77 and is now 13 shots off the pace.
A look at Charlie Woods' best golfing moments
One of his biggest moments in Woods' young career came at the 2024 PNC Championship, where he delivered a shot that had the entire golf world talking.
On the 176-yard, par-3 fourth hole, Charlie carded his first-ever hole-in-one. And Tiger could not control his emotions. The golfing legend went straight towards his son, hugged him and celebrated the moment like no one else.

Charlie later reflected on the ace, saying, "It was awesome having Dad there. That was so much fun. It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course, never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that's all right."
But that wasn't the only highlight. Just months later, the golf world saw Charlie secure his first AJGA victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational.
Beyond individual tournaments, Charlie has also made waves in high school golf, leading his team to victory at the Florida State Golf Championship.
Back in 2022, he carded a career-low 68 with Tiger Woods as his caddie at the Notah Begay III Junior National Golf Championship.
His round included two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 14th hole, nearly landing an albatross.

LPGA's Newest Star Lottie Woad Joins Exclusive List By Winning Professional Debut

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Until this Sunday, golf history recognized only two women as winners in their professional debuts. It's such an extraordinary feat that both achieved it 71 years apart. Rising LPGA Tour star Lottie Woad has just joined this exclusive list after her spectacular victory at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open. The Englishwoman won with a score of 21-under, three strokes ahead of major winner Hyo Joo Kim. Woad once again defeated a field packed with world stars, something she did three weeks ago when she won the Women's Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour, still playing as an amateur. In addition to Kim, major winners Sei Young Kim (3rd), Nelly Korda (5th), Ariya Jutanugarn (T8), and Minjee Lee (T21), among others, were present at the Dundonald Links. Lottie Woad of England poses with the trophy following victory of the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open following the final round of the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open 2025 at Dundonald Links Golf Course on July 27, 2025 in Troon, Scotland. MoreThe former World No. 1 amateur carded four birdies and a bogey on Sunday to extend her lead from the previous round. Woad was in contention from the very start, finishing second in the first round after a card of 67 and taking the lead a day later when she added a 65. She took a two-stroke lead after a 67 on Saturday. Further evidence of her superiority over the weekend is that she was the only player in the field with scores in the 60s during each of the four rounds. "It's a pretty good outcome," Woad said after her win, according to BBC. "I definitely wasn't expecting to win but knew I was playing well and just hoping to contend. There's not many scoreboards out there, but I knew it was probably quite tight at one stage." Woad thus joins Beverly Hanson and Rose Zhang as the only female players to win in their professional debuts. Hanson did so at the 1951 Eastern Open, defeating the legendary Babe Didrikson Zaharias. It was the start of an illustrious career of 17 LPGA Tour victories, including three major championships. Seventy-one years later, Rose Zhang followed in her footsteps by winning the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open. Like Hanson and Woad, Zhang had a distinguished amateur career. She reached the No. 1 amateur ranking in the world and won all the major titles in that category. More Golf: PGA Tour pro goes unrecognized in 'undercover' club fitting video

Are The San Antonio Spurs Gearing Up For A Trade This Coming Season?

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 09: Interim head coach Mitch Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs ... NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by) The San Antonio Spurs had a very strong draft, selecting Dylan Harper and Carter Bryant, both of whom could become foundational pieces moving forward. In free agency and on the trade market, however, the Spurs made some decisions that now, collectively, seem curious. Spending big on backup centers San Antonio first signed Luke Kornet to a four-year deal worth $41 million, albeit just under $24 million are guaranteed. They then traded for Kelly Olynyk, via the Washington Wizards, and took on his $13.4 million for 2025-2026 on top of it. That's $24.4 million for both of them this season, which is a fair bit of financial cheddar when you consider neither will have a starring role, as both play behind Victor Wembanyama and Jeremy Sochan. Of course, one can argue that Olynyk in particular should be able to play alongside the star Frenchman, but nevertheless, it seems optimistic to expect Olynyk to play an enormous amount of minutes given that he's 34 and played just over 20 minutes per game last season. As such, it's fair to wonder if the Spurs are gearing up to a mid-season trade, if they're in the hunt for a playoff spot. Endless possibilities The Spurs have a plethora of trade assets, both in form of player contracts and draft selections, so it'd make sense if the team is actively looking to make a move near the February trade deadline, especially by using the contracts of Kornet or Olynyk to facilitate a deal. After all, investing over $24 million on backup big men seem at-best optimistic, even if it's only for one year. It thus lends itself to the theory that the Spurs did it to keep their options open. Last trade deadline, San Antonio acquired point guard De'Aaron Fox, and it isn't inconceivable that they're planning on making an acquisition of similar quality, to pair with Fox and Wembanyama. They can easily match salaries for most players, as Keldon Johnson's $17.5 million, and Harrison Barnes' $19 million are also movable, and then align value via draft selections. This isn't to say the Spurs are looking to dramatically accelerate their timeline. The organization have shown patience, even after the selection of Wembanyama, and seem to insist on creating a long-term competitive window, which is the right play. It'll be interesting how to see how they play this over the next 6-12 months. Unless noted otherwise, all stats via PBPStats, Cleaning the Glass or Basketball-Reference. England vs. Spain Odds, Best Bets: Spain Favored In Women's Euro Final

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. After meeting in the quarterfinals of the Women's Euro in 2022 (England 2, Spain 1) and again in the final of the 2023 Women's World Cup (Spain 1, England 0), another tournament comes down to England vs. Spain today in Basel, Switzerland. This time, Spain is a massive favorite over the Lionesses, as oddsmakers expect Spain to dominate. It's worth noting, though, that in the semifinals, Germany managed to keep Spain scoreless and force extra time despite allowing Spain to dominate the possession and shots battles. England's ability to generate late goals is the biggest reason they've reached Sunday's final. The reigning Euro champs took down Sweden in PKs in the quarterfinals after trailing 2-0 for 75-plus minutes before equalizing with goals in the 79th and 81st. In the semis, England trailed Italy until the 96th, when sub Michelle Agyemang forced extra time just before the final whistle. How to Watch England vs. Spain Women's Euro 2025 Final Kickoff : 12 p.m. ET : 12 p.m. ET TV: FOX England vs. Spain Women's Euro Odds Below are the odds from three top sportsbooks in the two most popular markets for soccer matches: three-way moneyline and match winner. England vs. Spain Three-Way Moneyline Odds The DraftKings, FanDuel and bet365 three-way moneyline odds below apply to this afternoon's result after 90 minutes, plus stoppage time. DK FD bet365 England +350 +350 +350 Spain -135 -140 -138 Draw +270 +260 +280 England vs. Spain Odds To Raise Trophy Sportsbooks also offer each team's odds to win Sunday's final. In this market, it doesn't matter whether the winner comes out on top in 90 minutes, extras or PKs; all that matters is who moves on. DK FD bet365 England +200 +215 +200 Spain -280 -260 -275 England vs. Spain Betting Analysis England are better in the midfield than anyone Spain has faced in this tournament. Still, I expect La Roja midfielders Aitana Bonmati, Patricia Guijarro and Alexia Putellas to win their battle vs. the English trio of Georgia Stanway, Keira Walsh and Ella Toone. The latter group helped England keep the possession battle in the 2023 Women's World Cup final respectable, with Spain controlling possession just 56-44. But Bonmati was the only Spain starter in her team's starting XI that day, as Guijarro was not in that squad and a hobbled Putellas came on late as a sub. The question today is whether (and when) Spain will be able to turn control of the ball into quality scoring opportunities and/or goals. Switzerland held Spain scoreless until the 66th in the quarterfinals, and Germany managed to shut out Spain despite allowing a slew of shots, including several big chances. England vs. Spain Pick, Best Bets To me, oddsmakers are giving this scrappy England side too little credit, as I expect Spain to win, but not dominate. If you like England to keep this close (we've seen in the last two rounds how hard it is to pull away from anyone in knockout soccer), there are a few tempting plays we recommend. Given that Spain's last two matches were 0-0 at halftime, the halftime draw at +120 (DraftKings) is well worth a look. Related, "first half correct score 0-0" is also enticing, especially at +210 at FanDuel. Yet another tempting pro-England bet would be the Lionesses in the double chance market. If you'd like to make a low-risk play on the underdogs A) getting a stunning win in 90 minutes or B) grinding out a draw, "England or tie after 90 minutes" (+105 at DK) is worth a sprinkle. Personally, though, I think Spain will find a way to win this game in 90, though I wouldn't be surprised if England keeps a clean sheet for 60 minutes or longer. Taking the heavy favorites on the three-way moneyline is not the boldest way to go, but it's the safest play here, in my opinion. For some upside, let's also go with the halftime draw at +120 and parlay a halftime draw with a Spain win in 90 minutes for a big payout at nearly 4-to-1 odds. Best bets: Spain three-way moneyline (-135 at DraftKings) -- 1 unit First half three-way moneyline draw (+120 at DK, FD) -- 0.75 units Half time/full time: Draw/Spain (+390 at FD) -- 0.25 units Newsweek may earn an affiliate commission if you sign up through the links in this article.
