Hailey Bieber's beloved beauty brand Rhode SLAMMED over $18 lip products that smell like 'road kill'

Daily Mail02-05-2025
Hailey Bieber 's infamous beauty brand Rhode has come under fierce fire from customers claiming the lip products smell like 'road kill.'
The 28-year-old's brand offers a range of skincare and makeup goods, as well as the viral Lip Case that perfectly holds a Rhode lip product.
But recently, the model's Peptide Lip Tint and Peptide Lip Treatment, which are $18 each, have been called out for their 'awful' smell after only being open for a short period of time.
One customer posted a TikTok video smelling her Rhode lip tint before gagging on camera, pinching her nose shut and giving the product a thumbs down.
'Does anybody else's Rhode Lip Tint smell like something died?' they questioned in the text overlay.
Her caption read: 'It just randomly started smelling like road kill one day.'
And it seems that others largely agreed with the content creator's assessment - many rushing to share their own experiences in the comments.
'Yes! I have the unscented one and I swear to god one day I opened it up and it just REEKS,' a comment read.
'Is it just me or does [the "toast" tint product] smell and taste like actual toast and it's kinda gross?' someone said.
'I thought I was the stinky one until I realized it was my lip tint,' a person shared.
'Mine STINKS. I've only had it for a few months,' another wrote.
Another comment simply read: 'It smells like spoiled milk.'
'Giiiirl I've just got a refund from Rhode for the two lip tints because they smell so awful after a month of using I just can't! Now I am like what did I put on my lips???' someone else shared.
'This happened to my not too long ago. I was so confused, but I think there was mold in the cap,' another shopper speculated.
In another video, a woman asked why her Rhode Tinted Peptide Lip Treatment made 'her lips smell like doo doo.'
'What is that? And I was questioning myself like "What the f*** is stinking?"' she continued.
She said the shade Ribbon was her 'favorite' and it was her third tube but after smelling the product, she grimaced and asked: 'What is going on?'
'Why does my Rhode Lip Treatment smell like doo doo?' she questioned in the text overlay.
Someone in the comments said: 'Mine smelled like dirty laundry after three weeks and now it smells like a rotting corpse.'
'I just experienced this, and I hate it. Whenever I use it I regret it.
'I'm not hating on Rhode, I love their products, but the lip peptide has a lot of issues and definitely needs improvement,' another person advised.
'When you got the Rhode Lip Peptide and now it smells like mold,' someone else wrote in their own video.
The videos were neverending with another showing a woman smelling her lip peptide product while gagging and shaking her head. In a longer video , a mom cut open her daughter's Peptide Lip Tint to see if there was something inside the tube that was causing the repulsive smell.
In a longer clip, a mom cut open her daughter's Peptide Lip Tint to see if there was something inside the tube that was causing the repulsive smell.
Her daughter told her it 'smells bad' when she puts it on.
'I've already emailed the company, this is crazy, because number one, this stuff is not cheap... so I was like let's see what's inside this that's making it smell like a**holes,' she said.
The mom had cut off the end of the tube and started to squeeze the product onto a paper towel.
She said she wasn't 'seeing anything funky,' but it 'smelled like doo doo.'
'How is it bad already? This product cannot go bad in just two months,' she wondered.
She added: 'I'm not seeing anything, but you can smell it. It smells rancid.'
'It's absolutely disgusting to spend the kind of money these things cost and then for it to smell like doo doo feces on your lips. Who wants that?' she said.

Plus, more about how to get help with school uniform costs STEP TO THIS Trolls said I was 'greedy' after showing off my daughter's £350 Prada school shoes – but they actually save me money IN the world of parenting, every decision, from snacks to school runs, can feel like it's under a microscope - especially online. And for one mum, her choice of school shoes for her daughter sparked a debate, with trolls branding her "greedy." 1 The mum took to TikTok to share what shoes she bought her daughter Credit: TikTok/mumupnorth But as she reveals, there's a surprising, money-saving logic behind her luxury purchase. The mum, known on TikTok as @mumupnorth, recently shared a video that quickly went viral, showcasing her daughter's £350 Prada school shoes. However, the price tag immediately drew criticism, with many questioning if it was the correct thing to pay for as it's an item typically used for playground wear and tear. However, @mumupnorth was quick to hit back at the negativity, explaining the long-term thinking behind her investment. "My daughters £350 school shoes that broke the internet," she stated in her video, "she's had them for three years. I paid for quality shoes." She then directly compared her durable Prada purchase to more common, yet ultimately more expensive, alternatives. "Her friend must've had six pairs of Kickers in that time at £100s a pair," she highlighted. Her video has gained 913.1k views and 955 comments after two days of it being shared and there were mixed opinions. One wrote: 'Prada cups to school are greedy.' While a second added: 'You can afford expensive shoes, well done. 'Uniform, shoes, stationery - the lot!' Aston Merrygold's wife praises Primark as she nabs back-to-school haul for £47 'However a lot of families can barely afford school shoes from the likes of Asda and Tesco, let alone Clarks, Kickers, or in your case, Prada's. 'There's also the added cost of uniforms, especially secondary school, and the fact that kids' feet grow extremely fast and I'm constantly buying my son new shoes for that exact reason.' A third commented: 'I mean this Is what I want. If I pay more I want it to last forever. 'Not about names or logos. I'm a total minimalist. But I want it to be literally full of me.' And someone else said: 'Prada school shoes are the best!' £5 school uniforms A major supermarket chain across the UK has just unveiled an incredible school uniform bundle for an unbelievable £5, aiming to ease the financial strain of kitting out the kids for the new academic year. Available in stores from today, this fantastic bundle includes everything your child needs for a fresh start: two polo shirts, a sweatshirt, and your choice of either a pair of trousers, shorts, or a skirt. It's an all-in-one solution designed to make back-to-school shopping simple and affordable. For those needing individual items, the deals are just as impressive. You can pick up a comfortable sweatshirt for a mere £1.50, while trousers, shirts, skirts, or shorts are all priced at a budget-friendly £1.75 each during this sale. These prices significantly undercut many high street competitors, offering a much-needed lifeline for families facing the annual task of updating school wardrobes. This initiative is set to make a real difference, helping to ease the burden and ensure children are ready for school without parents having to break the bank.

Hailey Bieber is accused of copying idea from small business AGAIN after latest Rhode product launch

Rhode, the billion-dollar beauty brand founded by Hailey Bieber, has landed in hot water again amid fresh accusations its team allegedly copied a product design from a small business. After the model, 28, was pictured wearing a custom lipgloss-carrying waist chain in a new Rhode campaign, social media users began accusing the company of taking inspiration from the skincare brand, Cocokind. The resemblance between the gold waist chains divided the internet as many were torn between whether Rhode ripped off Cocokind or if the resemblance was purely coincidental. 'Not surprised she's been copying concepts from other brands all along! Looks like it's just another day, another design lifted from someone else. Shamelessly stealing ideas,' one X user pointed out. Another quipped: 'There's nothing original about Hailey Bieber.' Others accused Bieber of being a 'copycat since day one.' 'Neither of them invented anything, that accessory has been around for decades, and Hailey never claimed to have created it,' one X user pointed out. has reached out to Bieber, Rhode and Cocokind, but has not heard back, at this time. Last month, Cocokind polled fans over the product to gauge interest from consumers to see if they would actually wear a body chain that hooks to their lip gloss and doubles as a belt chain. 'We don't know how many to make so we need your honest opinions! Here's how some of our Miami crew styled the chain this weekend!' they wrote on Instagram in a post, uploaded on June 9. Rhode first posted their body chain on July 5. It is unknown when they began working on their design. In general, product development timelines can vary from weeks to several years. After Rhode went public with their design, Cocokind founder and CEO, Priscilla Tsai, revealed they 'decided that were not gonna be making this body chain slash belt that hooks onto your lip balm' anymore. Tsai explained in an Instagram video that only 50 percent of consumers said they were interested in purchasing the body chain, which raised 'red flags' to her that it may be too niche. In the comments section, one customer wrote: 'I saw Rhode coming out with one. It's cute but I'd rather buy from Cocokind... no tea no shade to them.' A second commented: 'Rhode copied you.' Following the recent release of her brand's lipgloss-carrying gold waist chain, social media users alleged the model, 28, may have copied an idea in development at the brand, Cocokind A third wrote: 'Rhode has something similar for their new launch, however it's not for sale and simply used in the campaign pics. Maybe you can use yours for just pics.' Cocokind was launched in November 2014 by Tsai, who sought to create an accessible and clean skincare line. The company has 346,000 followers on Instagram and is sold at stores like Ulta Beauty, Target, Walmart and Whole Foods. Meanwhile, Rhode has 3.4 million Instagram followers and is primarily sold through its own website. This fall, it will hit Sephora. This is not the first time Rhode has been called out for copying the aesthetic of other brands, like Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty, Summer Fridays and Millie Bobby Brown's Florence by Mills. The resemblance between the waist chains divided the internet as many were torn between whether Rhode ripped off Cocokind or if the resemblance was purely coincidental In 2022, Rhode raised eyebrows for having similar packaging to Florence by Mills and has repeatedly been accused of taking inspiration from Gomez's Rare Beauty. Hailey has never not publicly denied or commented on the copying allegations. Bieber's brand was previously sued for trademark infringement by Rhode-NYC over its name Ultimately, Bieber's brand won the trademark dispute against the clothing company, which has been worn by stars like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross and Khloé Kardashian. Regardless, the mogul, who is married to pop star Justin Bieber, has achieved significant success as an entrepreneur and sold Rhode to E.l.f. Cosmetics in May. She still serves as the brand's the Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation and a strategic advisor for e.l.f. This is not the first time Rhode has been called out for copying the aesthetic of other brands, like Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty, Summer Fridays and Millie Bobby Brown's Florence by Mills In 2022, Rhode raised eyebrows for having similar packaging to Florence by Mills Four years before Hailey released her Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie at Erewhon, Summer Fridays had a similar collaboration with Alfred Coffee Bieber launched her much-anticipated brand in June 2022, releasing only three products at the time - Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream, and Peptide Lip Treatment. Since then, the brand has grown exponentially, expanding into different tinted lip products, blush and even viral phone cases that double as lip gloss carriers. After making the purchase, e.l.f. Chairman and CEO Tarang Amin told Business Wire: 'E.l.f. Beauty found a like-minded disruptor in rhode.' 'Rhode further diversifies our portfolio with a fast-growing brand that makes the best of prestige accessible,' he said in his statement. 'We are excited by Rhode's ability to break beauty barriers, fully aligning with e.l.f. Beauty's vision to create a different kind of company. Rhode is a beautiful brand that we believe is ready for rocketship growth.' Following the news, Hailey took to Instagram to break her silence on the monumental deal. Last month, Rhode raised eyebrows for seemingly taking inspiration from Gomez's Rare Beauty in the photo above 'When I launched @rhode in 2022, I always had big dreams for the company, and the most important thing to me is to keep bringing rhode to more spaces, places, and faces globally,' she wrote in the caption, which was accompanied by two pictures of her. 'So today I am so incredibly excited and proud to announce that we are partnering with e.l.f. Beauty as we step into this next chapter in the world of rhode. 'I found a like-minded disruptor with a vision to be a different kind of company that believes in big ideas and innovation in the same way that I do and will help us continue to grow the brand,' her message continued. 'I feel invigorated, excited and more ready than ever to step into an even bigger role as Chief Creative Officer, and Head of Innovation of rhode as well as strategic advisor to e.l.f. Beauty.' In the post, Hailey also thanked her dedicated team at rhode and acknowledged that she 'couldn't have done it' without their help. Of course, she also thanked consumers. 'As I've said, this is only the beginning,' Hailey signed off. Earlier this year, she told Vogue that Rhode, which is her middle name, was a COVID-era idea. 'I think from having worked with so many different makeup artists and trying different facialists, estheticians, all these different people... I realized that it doesn't take much for you to have a good routine, and it doesn't take much for skin care to be great,' she told the publication. In the interview, Rhode's president, Lauren Ratner, credited Hailey as the 'number-one reason for Rhode's success.' 'I think the consumer is really smart, and really understands authenticity,' Ratner said. While speaking about the success of Rhode, Hailey admitted she 'never, ever thought or expected it to turn into this.' 'In my wildest dreams, it's already gone beyond what I would've hoped for,' she gushed.

Pregnant Olivia Culpo is mercilessly mocked over her excessive hospital bags

Pregnant Olivia Culpo has been mercilessly mocked online thanks to her excessive hospital bags. The model, 33, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Christian McCaffrey, took to TikTok earlier this week to share everything that she had packed to bring to the hospital with her when she gives birth. She confessed that she had filled up two enormous suitcases to the brim with stuff like an expensive robe, pillows, comforters, multiple outfits, and of course, a ton of hair and makeup products. And many viewers couldn't help but poke fun at how much stuff she was bringing. Olivia began the video, which got over 1.3 million views, by explaining that she had 'worked really hard' on picking the right items. She said she wanted to share what she chose to hopefully help other moms feel less 'overwhelmed' during the process. 'First time mom packing my hospital bag,' she said. 'I worked really hard on this, and I know how overwhelming the whole process is so I committed a while ago to making a video. 'I want to be a resource for people because I watched so many of these. And they're really interesting.' She explained that she had she packed 'two large suitcases,' one that had all her 'comfort stuff' and another filled with her 'essentials.' In the first, she explained that she had multiple pillows and blankets, including a twin-sized comforter. 'I am such a pillow snob so I knew I was going to need specific pillows,' she said. 'That's just a me thing. I don't know what the hospital pillows are like but I am not taking my chances. I need to get my beauty sleep, I'm gonna be a mom.' She also packed two sleep masks, two portable fans, a small light, some scented room sprays for 'aroma therapy,' a framed picture of her dog, Oliver, and a $184 Chasa robe. In addition, she brought two 'postpartum mom kits' from Frida Mom - 'one is for C-section and one is for vaginal birth' - and five fake candles. 'This is the most ridiculous thing, these are flameless, flickering candles,' she said of the latter. In the essentials bag, she had a nursing bra, nipple butter, a Boppy pillow for breast feeding, a Medela breast pump and Medela hydrogel pad, electrolytes, a lactation drink mix, and a water bottle. She also had a separate bag full of snacks, a professional camera and video recorder, headphones, chargers, and an extension chord. There was another bag that had all her makeup and hair products, which she said also included deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and other hygiene 'basics' like that. In addition, the expecting mother packed six different outfits, slippers, slides, and shower shoes. Olivia explained that she also packed a small bag with baby stuff, which included three outfits, a notebook to document everything, a Barefoot Dreams blanket, swaddle, sound machine, placenta kit, and chord collection kit. 'A lot of this stuff is more luxury as opposed to essentials,' she reflected after she finished breaking everything down. 'I'm aware of that. 'I thought it would make my hospital stay more comfortable and I hope you guys find it useful. 'And if you didn't find any of this helpful and you think I'm ridiculous and that I overpacked - one, I slightly agree with you and two, you made it this far in the video, and I commend you for that.' Many viewers couldn't help but roast Olivia in the comment section. Many viewers couldn't help but roast Olivia in the comment section 'OLIVIA ARE YOU MOVING TO THE HOSPITAL?' one jokingly asked. 'Let me tell you, I didn't even open my hospital bag. I used everything the hospital provided,' shared another. 'I was in and out in 24 hours. Are you planning on staying a week?' someone else wrote. 'LOL are you camping in the hospital?' read a fourth comment. 'Is this is birthing vacation? I literally laughed out loud,' said a fifth. A different user penned, 'Omg are you kidding that is so much, you have to do another video and tell us what you actually used lol.' 'How long is she expecting to be there? Thats a lot of stuff,' someone else added. 'This is the best TikTok I've seen in months! I haven't laughed this hard in days! Please stitch this when you unpack,' another viewer commented. 'Holy moly… I had five kids and I don't think I brought that much stuff for all five births combined,' shared one shocked user. 'Times have changed since I had my baby in 2000. I rolled in that day with an outfit and blanket for the baby and left the next morning,' a different person wrote. In March, Olivia and Christian announced they were expecting their first child together and that Olivia was already six months pregnant. The couple, who have been dating since 2019 and tied the knot last summer in a lavish ceremony in Rhode Island, have yet to announce the gender of the baby.
