UAE: Rains in Khor Fakkan trigger waterfalls in mountains as downpour hits some areas
Videos from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and Storm Centre capture the effects of the rains, which have triggered waterfalls and caused wadis to overflow.
Earlier, the NCM had forecasted rainfall in certain areas, issuing yellow alerts for convective clouds formation.
In the clips shared by Storm Centre, the heavy rains in Khor Fakkan, Al Nahwa and Shis areas in the eastern region of the country have sent torrents of water rushing through the mountains and caused wadis to overflow.

Another heartwarming clip shared by Storm Centre also showed residents playing in the rain as showers continued in the Falaj area of Sharjah.
The video shows men playfully splashing water that had collected on the road, while a child is seen revelling in the fun.

UAE weather tomorrow: Light rainfall expected with slight decrease in temperature
Weather in the UAE on Saturday, July 5 will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, the met department has reported. Low clouds are expected to appear over the East coast with a probability of light rainfall by morning, the country's National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has said. Along with the rainfall, a slight and gradual decrease in temperatures is also expected on Saturday, bringing slight relief from the extreme heat. Moderate to fresh Northwesterly winds, strong at times, causing blowing dust and sand, westward daytime are expected. Wind speed will range from 10–25 kmph, reaching 45 kmph. The sea will be rough to very rough at times by night offshore in the Arabian Gulf and moderate, may become rough at times in Oman Sea, the NCM said. Highest temperature in Dubai on Saturday will be 40°C, with the lowest being 32°C. In Abu Dhabi, temperatures will range between 31°C and 38°C. Sharjah temperatures are expected to range between 29°C and 39°C. A yellow alert was issued by the NCM on Friday, July 4, for rough sea and fresh winds reaching up to 40kmph, blowing in a northwesterly direction. The highest temperature recorded over the country on Friday was 46.2 °C at 3:45pm.

Jamrat Al-Qaid is usually marked by intense dryness and extremely hot and dry desert winds known as "samoom winds". Temperatures are expected to exceed 50°C during the day in some desert areas, accompanied by dry, scorching winds. Al Jarwan clarified that during this summer phase, ground surface temperatures can reach 65°C, and mirages and dust whirlwinds may form. He also explained that what he called heat surges continue in succession—these are intense heatwaves in which temperatures rise at least 3°C above average for a minimum of two days. These surges are also marked by extreme heat and dryness. On May 24—well before the peak of summer— temperatures in the UAE soared to a scorching 51.6°C at 1:45pm, marking the highest reading in the country so far this year, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The extreme heat was recorded in Sweihan, Al Ain. This extremely high temperature signalined an early start to the intense heat that typically grips the country in the summer.

As a result, more people are turning to beaches that offer night swimming, seeking cooler and more pleasant conditions after sunset. These night beaches provide a refreshing alternative, allowing residents and tourists alike to enjoy the sea under the stars. Here's all you need to know about beaches that allow visitors to swim after sunset: Abu Dhabi The latest addition to the country's list of beaches that allow visitors to swim during night hours is Marsana Night Beach in Abu Dhabi. Located on Marsana East Beach, it offers visitors a chance to swim under the moonlit sky with lifeguard supervision while enjoying amenities like cozy loungers and dining options. The night swimming season began July 1, and is set to go on until Tuesday, September 30. On weekdays, night swimming will be permitted from sunset until 10pm. Meanwhile, from Friday to Sunday and on holidays, the beach will be open from sunset until midnight. To access the beach, visitors will have to pay a fee, which differs on the basis of the days. It is free of cost for children under the age of six. Dubai Three beaches in Dubai offer night swimming—Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1, reflecting the city's appeal to visitors all year round. These three beaches span around 800 m collectively and have welcomed aroung 1.5 million visitors since opening in May 2023, according to WAM. They are all free of charge.
