Mets reinstate DH/OF Starling Marte from injured list
It was one of seven transactions announced prior to Tuesday night's home game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Marte, 36, has not played since July 6 due to a bruised right knee. The two-time All-Star is batting .270 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 58 games this season.
The Mets also placed left-hander Brandon Waddell on the 15-day injured list with a right hip impingement. He has no decisions and a 4.00 ERA in 10 games (one start).
The team optioned infielder Jared Young and right-hander Kevin Herget to Syracuse, recalled right-hander Justin Garza from the Triple-A club and designated right-hander Chris Devenski for assignment.
Right-hander Rico Garcia reported to the Mets and will be active for Tuesday's game. He has bounced back and forth between the Mets and New York Yankees this season and was picked up off waivers on Monday.

July 25 - At least 100 players, as well as coaches and other team personnel from approximately half the teams in the NFL, allegedly sold their Super Bowl tickets for above face-value in violation of league policies, ESPN reported Friday. According to a memo sent to all 32 NFL teams and reviewed by ESPN, an investigation by the league found that some "club employees and players sold their tickets to a small number of 'bundlers' who were working with a ticket reseller to sell the Super Bowl tickets above face value." Players violating the agreement between the league and the NFL Players Association around the re-sale of Super Bowl tickets are reportedly subject to penalties including fines of 1 1/2 times the face value of the tickets. Other team employees who violated the policy will reportedly be fined two times the face value of the tickets. The memo stated that those found to have bundled tickets would face steeper fines, according to Sports Illustrated. Face value of tickets to February's Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly ranged from $950 to $7,500, while prices on secondary sites ranged from $2,588 to nearly $3,500 on the low end to over $10,000, with the average price of a Super Bowl ticket being $8,076 in the final weeks leading up to the game, according to CBS. Players could be suspended if they refuse to pay the fines, per ESPN. Some players have reportedly already paid the fines to avoid missing playing time. In addition to fines, players breaking the rule will reportedly also lose the right to their allotted tickets to the next two Super Bowls. The NFL has fined 100 players and two dozen club officials for selling Super Bowl tickets above face value, according to reports. While players and officials are allowed to sell tickets at face value, they are banned from doing so at inflated prices. The face value price for Super Bowl tickets for the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, which included a half-time performance by Kendrick Lamar, earlier this year, varied between $950 and $7,500 each. However, the average resale price hit $10,417 on ticketing websites. The minimum salary for a 'rookie' NFL player is understood to be around $750,000 a year. But once established, their annual pay packet can hit $5m, with superstars – often quarterbacks – frequently earning twice as much. Details of the clandestine transactions followed an investigation by the NFL. 'The investigation has revealed that club employees and players sold their tickets to a small number of 'bundlers' who were working with a ticket reseller to sell the Super Bowl tickets above face value,' Sabrina Perel, the head of compliance at the NFL, wrote in a memo. Emma Raducanu beats Maria Sakkari and the heat to reach Washington last four
Emma Raducanu booked her place in the semi-finals of the Washington Open for the first time with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Greece's Maria Sakkari on a day where both players had to battle high temperatures. After losing the opening game, Raducanu dropped serve but managed to break straight back. Raducanu broke again to make it 4-3 courtesy of a scuffed drop-volley by Sakkari, who fought back once more following another double fault by the Briton. After getting her nose in front again, Raducanu held serve to take the opening set. The 22-year-old was looking to continue her impressive streak over the Greek player on her 30th birthday but Sakkari, who beat Katie Boulter earlier in the tournament, took a 4-2 lead in the second set. Temperatures of up to 36C took their toll as a physio was called on to the court to check on Raducanu. However, the break in play reinvigorated the 2021 US Open winner and she won five successive games to book her slot in the final four in two hours and 10 minutes. 'My confidence has been building since Miami,' said Raducanu. 'The amount of work I'm doing behind the scenes, to have that in the locker and banked; you know you've done it, it takes a little pressure off the results. 'I'm really pleased today, Maria played a really good match and I think these conditions suit the jumpiness of her game. I'm really happy that I toughed it out.' Raducanu will face either Clara Tauson or Anna Kalinskaya for a place in the final.
