FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams left practice early Thursday after tweaking a calf muscle. Williams was participating in individual drills when he felt discomfort in his lower leg. He walked into the facility under his own power, but sat out the rest of the practice session. There was no immediate update from the Jets on Williams' injury or if he might miss any time. Coach Aaron Glenn wasn't scheduled to speak to reporters until Friday morning after practice. The 27-year-old Williams is a key part of New York's defense and a three-time Pro Bowl selection who was also an All-Pro during the 2022 season. He had six sacks last season, giving him 39 for his career since being drafted with the third overall pick in 2019 out of Alabama. Williams anchors a new-look D-line for the Jets, who also have Micheal Clemons, Will McDonald, Rashad Weaver, Jay Tufele, Derrick Nnadi, Byron Cowart and youngsters such as Payton Page, Leonard Taylor and Eric Watts competing for spots. Second-year running back Braelon Allen missed his second consecutive practice with soreness in his left knee. The club announced Wednesday it has reached a three-year deal with defenseman Dylan Samberg worth $5.75 million per season. According to TSN, Samberg was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing later in the day. The restricted free agent was coming off a two-year, $2.8 million contract. The 26-year-old Minnesota native set career highs with six goals and 20 points in 60 games during the 2024-25 campaign and tied for sixth in the NHL with a +34 plus/minus rating. The Jets selected Samberg in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He's racked up 51 points in 216 games for the team over the past four seasons.

Dylan Samberg scored a pay boost with a new three-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, avoiding arbitration at the 11th hour. The two sides were set to head to an arbitration hearing on Wednesday but settled that with a handshake and an agreement that carries an average annual value of $5.75 million US. The Jets announced the new contract on Wednesday morning. Samberg, 26, has played all 216 games of his NHL career with the Jets, who drafted him 43rd overall in the 2017 NHL draft. He set new single-season career highs for goals (six) and points (20) last season, despite being limited to just 60 games. Samberg added three assists in 13 playoff games before the Jets fell to Dallas in Game 6 of the second round of the Western Conference post-season matchup. The Minnesota native led the Jets — and tied for sixth in the NHL — in plus/minus with a +34 rating. He's a +63 over his Jets career. Internationally, he has represented the United States several times, including at the 2023 World Championships, when he recorded four points (one goal, three assists) and four penalty minutes in 10 games. He also played in a pair of World Junior Championships, winning bronze in 2018 and silver in 2019 with Team USA.
