The agreement, forged under Karnataka's Global Innovation Alliance initiative, aims to connect the start-up ecosystems of both regions more closely. The focus will be on facilitating start-up exchanges, offering soft-landing support for entrepreneurs, and building joint capacities in advanced technology and research.
'This partnership under Karnataka's Global Innovation Alliance, will reduce the distance between Berlin and Bengaluru by enabling start-up exchange, soft-landing support and deeper tech and innovation collaboration,' Kharge posted. He emphasized that collaboration will zero in on high-growth sectors including Artificial Intelligence, FinTech, Life Sciences, and Digitalisation—domains where both cities boast global reputations.

Kharge added, 'We will soon institutionalise this partnership through a joint steering committee and dedicated nodal points on both sides to track progress, co-create programs and ensure outcome-based delivery."
The agreement was signed in the presence of Franziska Giffey, Berlin's Mayor and Senator for Economic Affairs, who is currently leading a 25-member trade delegation on a mission to Bengaluru and Delhi. She confirmed Berlin's plan to set up a formal business representation in the Karnataka capital, positioning the city as a key partner for Germany in South Asia.

Let BJP provide evidence on diversion of funds meant for SCs, STs, says Kharge
Refuting the allegation that funds allocated for the welfare of Dalits under Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) have been diverted by the Congress government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has asked BJP leaders to provide records to prove their charge. 'Let the BJP leaders furnish detailed documents on the diversion of such funds, instead of making baseless accusation and misleading people,' Mr. Kharge told a press conference here on Monday. 'In fact, these funds were diverted for various department works during the then BJP government in the State. The former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is now BJP MP, himself accepted it during Assembly session. But now the same BJP leaders are spreading false propaganda and attempting to criticize the Congress-led government in the State,' Mr. Kharge claimed. Mr. Kharge dared the BJP leaders to get more funds from the Central government for the welfare of Dalits and adivasis, if they are really concerned about them. He said that at least a State ruled by the BJP should receive additional funds from the Central government for the uplift of the marginalized communities. Reacting to the allegation made by the Opposition about discrimination in the allocation of development funds to constituencies represented by their MLAs, Mr. Kharge said, 'When the BJP was in power in the State, there was discrimination in releasing funds to constituencies represented by Congress MLAs.' 'They have not allocated equal grants and I have openly expressed this many times,' he claimed. Responding to a query on the shortage of urea in the State, Mr. Kharge said that Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy met the Union Agriculture Minister urging him to supply urea to meet demand. This year, the State has not received the required quantity of fertilizer. In Kalaburagi district, farmers have achieved 100% of the sowing target and there is a demand for 500 tonnes of fertilizer. Of this demand, 200 tonnes have already been supplied from Bagalkot and the remaining (300 tonnes) will be supplied soon, he said. Mr. Kharge urged the BJP leaders to protest in Delhi and ensure that adequate fertilizer is supplied to the State. Reacting to BJP national general secretary (organization) B.L. Santhosh's objection over AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala holding meeting with Ministers in the State, Mr. Kharge asked 'Whether the BJP leaders expect Mr. Santhosh or RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale to conduct such meetings.' Expressing displeasure over the recent developments at the Central University of Karnataka, the Minister accused Central Universities of functioning like RSS Shakhas. 'Earlier, we were denied permission for organising a programme on the university campus. The university was established with the efforts of All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge to facilitate the educational development of the region but the campus is being used for RSS activities,' he claimed.

‘Something like 10 or 12 days': Donald Trump slashes Putin's deadline of 50 days to end Ukraine war; says ‘very disappointed in him'
File photo: US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin (Picture credit: PTI, AP) US President Donald Trump has announced to shorten the deadline he gave Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine, signalling growing frustration over a lack of progress on a ceasefire. Speaking in Scotland on Monday during a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said he would no longer wait the full 50 days he had initially offered Putin earlier this month. "I'm disappointed in President Putin, very disappointed in him," Trump said, as quoted by news agency AFP, adding, 'We're going to reduce that 50 days to something like 10 or 12. I think I already know what's going to happen.' Ukraine praised Trump for saying he would cut the 50-day deadline. "Thanks to President Trump for standing firm and delivering a clear message of peace through strength," Ukrainian presidential aide Andriy Yermak said on social media, adding, "When America leads with strength, others think twice." Trump had originally warned Putin of severe economic penalties if the conflict wasn't halted by early September. These included 100 percent secondary tariffs on Russia and its trading partners, a move that would force any country continuing trade with Moscow to pay a steep price to sell goods in the US. This could affect nations like India and China, which still maintain trade relations with Russia. Trump told reporters at Turnberry that the decision to shorten the timeline was made because ceasefire hopes had repeatedly collapsed. 'We thought we had that settled numerous times,' he said, 'and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever — you have bodies lying all over the street.' The US President has in recent weeks begun expressing unusually harsh criticism of Putin. 'There's a bit of an issue with him,' he remarked, as per Politico. Although Trump has had several discussions with the Russian leader, even claiming they came close to ceasefire terms five times, little concrete progress has been made. Trump also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating that a ceasefire there was 'possible' and urging international partners to share the responsibility. He criticised Hamas for reportedly stealing aid and added, 'It's not a US problem. It's an international problem.'

The state government had on Sunday announced a series of urgent measures, including closure and demolition of unsafe school buildings, GIS-mapping of all vulnerable structures, and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor structural safety. School Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar, who chaired an emergency meeting with senior officials from both the departments, had said a proposal of Rs 150 crore under the disaster management fund has been prepared for repair works in 7,500 schools across 170 tehsils, officials said. The move came amid growing concerns over the vulnerability of school infrastructure, especially during the monsoon season in southeastern Rajasthan. Dilawar had said a statewide survey is being conducted by the district collectors to identify the dilapidated school buildings.
