Carven Pre-Fall 2025 Collection

Carven Pre-Fall 2025 Collection

Vogue10-06-2025
Glance at this collection, which is officially credited to the Carven studio, and you would be hard-pressed to detect where Louise Trotter's vision ends, and incoming director of design Mark Thomas's begins. From the lookbook's opening trench coat with its soft gray underside to the crisp tuxedo shirt and tuxedo skirt further down, this transition moment appears like a well-considered articulation in continuity. Anyone who has been drawn to the brand since Trotter's arrival in 2023 (with Thomas as her senior designer) will appreciate how these latest streamlined yet sophisticated silhouettes merge with previous seasons.
Of course, it never hurts to inject a touch of inspiration, which comes in the form of women artists such as Agnes Martin, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Celia Paul. Rather than their works (largely dissimilar), their style—inside and outside the studio—informed some of the blousy smock tops and wraparound apron shapes. These interpretations are not literal—more like abstractions—and their materials make all the difference. Among the ongoing codes of Carven is a penchant for fabrics that appear structured to the eye yet soft around the body, such as a rounded mac coat, a lingerie dress with flannel on front and crushed lining in the back, or the looks in couture-like silk wool. The knits and cashmere shifts—often double-faced and accented with subtle design details—are pieces to be grateful for when you need to leave home looking pulled together.
More often than not, Carven understands the wearable imperative, even when an ample khaki skirt conjuring a tarp impulsively pulled off a painting seems more satisfying to imagine than to wear. If the open-toed satin mules and supple bedroom slippers paired with ribbed socks are more suited to life indoors than the practicalities of the street, a new bag named Tommaso has a minimalist, all-purpose appeal. As for the crisp and tailored denim, notice the gold key that ornaments a belt loop. Replicated from a key found at the venue of Trotter's first runway show, it became a symbol for the studio—and now, presumably, for us as Thomas opens the door to his own Carven soon enough.

Jennifer Lawrence Has a New Favorite Styling Trick

Jennifer Lawrence is entering an experimental styling era. Recently, the actor has embraced a red and white palette and proved that a limited color scheme still leaves plenty of room to play with layering, silhouette, and accessorizing. During the peak of New York's heatwave last month, Lawrence opted for a sun-reflecting all-white outfit: a prescient, oversized 'Recycle' tee, and layered two lace-trimmed skirts—a mini, atop a another calf-length slip. Today, she offered a new riff on the layered look. Diamond / BACKGRIDUSA Diamond / BACKGRIDUSA Lawrence wore flowing silk pants in her tried-and-true tomato-red, which she paired with a boxy white T-shirt. She accessorized with a white Ralph Lauren baseball cap, sunglasses, and—as she did yesterday—a pair of slim black flip-flops, a black suede Liffner tote bag, and a black cord necklace with a large onyx pendant. While the statement jewelry and bright red pants created some visual intrigue, Lawrence went further and played with thoughtful piece pairing, introducing her white mini slip. Likely a slip dress that she wore beneath her tee, the slip would probably be too short to wear as a dress. But here, worn sandwiched between her shirt and pants, Jennifer Lawrence is modeling another way to wear our more fickle pieces thanks to some artful layering.

Ellen DeGeneres Blames Trump for her Exodus

Known bully and disgraced talk show host Ellen DeGeneres blames Trump for her US exodus. I'm Tomi Lahren, more next. Now I didn't vote for Donald Trump so that annoying loudmouth liberal celebrities would leave the country, but it's certainly a bonus perk! Especially in the case of known bully and disgraced talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. She told the BBC in an interview that while her and her wife's adventure to the UK countryside was intended to be part-time, after Trump won the election last November they decided to make it permanent. Lucky us! And the same sentiment goes to her pal Rosie O'Donnell who also fled the greatest country on the face of the Earth due to an election that didn't go her way! Rosie, of course, moved to Ireland and we all hope she stays there! But there's something pretty ironic about the places these disgruntled celebrities chose to flee to…they are in Europe.. and to places that are predominantly white and highly developed… They aren't going to Haiti or Somalia or the Gaza Strip… funny how that works, isn't it? Regardless, the USA is better without them in it! I'm Tomi Lahren and you can watch my show 'Tomi Lahren is Fearless' at Learn more about your ad choices. Visit

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 Episode 3 Recap: Engagement Reveal Ends In Chaos

Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Belly (Lola Tung) in THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY Photo: Erika Doss © ... More AMAZON CONTENT SERVICES LLC Wedding bells are ringing, but not everyone is celebrating. Last week's two-episode Season 3 premiere brought heartbreak, lots of drama and a surprise proposal that left many fans reeling. The next new episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty is now streaming on Prime Video, so here's a full recap of everything that went down. As a quick refresher for what happened last week, Belly is finishing up her junior year at Finch College and preparing for a magical summer in Cousins. Jeremiah is supposed to graduate but can't due to missing credits, meaning he'll have to be a super senior and take classes in the fall. This complicates Belly's plans after she learns she's been accepted into the Paris study abroad program for the fall of her senior year. Belly and Jeremiah's relationship has had its ups and downs over the past four years, but nothing could have prepared viewers for what happened next. At a frat party, Belly overhears a girl named Lacie claiming she hooked up with Jair in Cabo during Spring Break. Technically, Belly and Jair were on a break at the time after an argument — but they got back together as soon as he returned, and he never mentioned that he had slept with someone else. Belly breaks up with Jeremiah and struggles to come to terms with how he could have done something so hurtful, even though he believed they were no longer together. But her feelings begin to shift after Steven gets into a serious car accident. Jeremiah waits overnight at the hospital while keeping his distance. After Steven wakes up from his coma, Belly and Jelly reconcile. He proposes to her outside the hospital and she says yes. The engagement news will likely come as a shock to everyone — especially Belly's ex and Jeremiah's brother, Conrad, who is studying to become a doctor at Stanford. He had planned to visit Cousins for his mom's dedication but backs out after securing a coveted summer clinical residency alongside his pre-med friend, Agnes. However, the residency doesn't last long: Conrad gets himself fired after refusing to take a break upon hearing about Steven's accident, which leads to him mislabeling blood vials. Spoilers ahead for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 1. Episode 3 begins with Jeremiah and Belly in post-engagement bliss. He finally gets down on one knee and officially proposes with a tiny ring in his dorm room. Jeremiah tries to keep their engagement a secret until the weekend in Cousins — until he starts shouting it from his dorm window for everyone to hear. Belly breaks the engagement news to Taylor, and her best friend does not take it well. When Belly reminds her that she was the one who encouraged her to forgive Jeremiah after the cheating incident, Taylor clarifies that she meant talk to him, not get married. Still, Taylor reluctantly promises to keep the engagement a secret. As for Taylor, she's still heartbroken over Steven ending their situationship in the previous episode. He's now recovering from the accident at home, secretly squeezing in work sessions despite being on bed rest. Agnes checks in with Conrad after he gets kicked out of the summer program. He's considering applying for another position at Garth Lab, this time working in research rather than with patients. Meanwhile, Belly returns home after finishing her junior year. During the car ride, her dad suspects she might be onto him about hooking up with her mom, but in reality, she's lost in thought about the engagement she's hiding. Conrad doesn't want to go to Cousins for his mom's dedication, but Agnes urges him to face his feelings. When he tells her she doesn't know what it's like, she responds, 'Do you mean I have no idea what it's like to be in unrequited love with someone who's never going to feel the same way back?' — hinting at her romantic feelings for him. She explains that she stuck it out and worked through it, and that's exactly what Conrad needs to do to normalize the situation with Jeremiah and Belly. Taylor visits Belly and apologizes for how she acted earlier at the coffee shop. Belly asks her to be her maid of honor, and she accepts. Taylor even pulls out an old scrapbook they made filled with their dream wedding inspiration. She tells Belly that she's going to need her, because once Laurel finds out, it's going to be a full-fledged apocalypse. Belly meets Jeremiah at the dedication at the women's shelter and tells him her dad won't be able to make it, which is a bummer, since she wanted her whole family there when they shared the news. Conrad took Agnes advice and shows up at the dedication, taking Belly and Jeremiah by surprise. She and Jeremiah decide to hold off on announcing their engagement and keep the day focused on Susannah. But Belly changes her mind. During dinner with their families, Adam and Laurel go around sharing their kids' accomplishments and bright futures. When Adam refers to Jeremiah as a super senior and downplays his future plans, Belly steps in and says that Jeremiah actually does have big plans — and so does she. In fact, they have big plans together. 'We're getting married… in August,' Belly announces. Laurel immediately asks if it's a joke. Adam turns to Jeremiah and demands to know what he's dragged Belly into, while Steven asks if they're being serious right now. Laurel then asks if her daughter is pregnant, and Belly and Jeremiah say no. Laurel tells Belly that if they wanted to take the next step — like moving in together or fostering a cat — that would've made more sense, but marriage is too much. Adam tells Jeremiah he hopes he doesn't think he's getting his mother's ring, and Jeremiah replies that he didn't expect it. Conrad is basically just sitting there in shock, while Laurel abruptly cancels the entire dinner… just as the seafood tower arrives. Belly and Jeremiah get up and walk out of the restaurant together. Jeremiah says they'll come around (they have to, right?). Laurel pulls Belly into the car, and everyone leaves separately. Conrad is the last to leave the restaurant, his face filled with confusion, maybe regret, and definitely shock. They knew their parents' reactions would be intense, but did they expect the announcement of their marriage plans to blow up this badly? That said, their families' concerns aren't unwarranted: they're both young, Belly hasn't explored life outside of the Fisher brothers and Jeremiah still needs to get his life on track. It will also be interesting to see more of Conrad's reaction in the next episode, because this definitely wasn't the definition of 'exposure therapy' Agnes had in mind. The next episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 airs on Wednesday, July 30. Check out the full release schedule below.
