Tom Holland is going to be in very good company in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as seasoned MCU star Mark Ruffalo has joined the official cast as The Hulk.
Ruffalo has been part of the superhero franchise for 14 years, starring in all the Avengers movies and fan-favorite titles like Thor: Ragnarok. Last time we saw his Bruce Banner was in Disney Plus' TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, which starred his cousin Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany).
The Hulk is not the only Marvel character returning for the upcoming Spidey movie, which is now filming in Scotland.
Along with the previously announced addition of Jon Bernthal's The Punisher to the cast, Marvel announced that Michael Mando is set to reprise his role of the Scorpion. The villain first debuted in Spider-Man: Homecoming, where he was arrested by the FBI after the Staten Island ferry incident and swore vengeance against Spider-Man. It seems like he will make good on his promise in the new movie.
This cast announcement comes on the back of film set leaks that might just have confirmed Mister Negative as the film's villain. A bystander on the streets of Glasgow spotted a heavy-duty armored truck with a red demon mark on its side that resembles the logo of the Inner Demons. A recent glimpse behind the scenes also hinted at D-list villains forming part of the film's rogues' gallery.
Tom Holland's new Spider-Man suit was partially revealed this week too, giving us some serious Sam Raimi vibes.
As filming continues, we're hoping to get even more details about the movie, which has yet to reveal an official plot. We expect the story to follow on from the events of the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Peter Parker's existence erased from everyone's minds.
Plunged back into anonymity, the New York-based superhero will focus, as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige explained recently, on "street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events." Brand New Day also appears to be set before Avengers: Doomsday.
Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are set to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, with Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will land in cinemas on July 31, 2026. For more, here is our complete guide to upcoming Marvel movies and Marvel Phase 6.

Prince Harry denies biographer's claim of 2013 tussle with Prince Andrew over Meghan Markle

Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has responded to a new biography on Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The book claims Prince Harry and Prince Andrew had an argument that escalated to a physical altercation in 2013. Prince Andrew allegedly told Harry that his marriage to Meghan Markle would 'not last more than a month.' Prince Harry has denied claims made in a new book that he physically fought with Prince Andrew in 2013. The book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, by historian Andrew Lownie, is about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. It 'exposes the secrets and scandals behind their extravagant lives and troubled marriage,' according to an Amazon summary. An excerpt from the book, published in the Daily Mail, claims the princes argued and then had a physical altercation. 'Punches were thrown over something Andrew said behind Harry's back,' Lownie wrote. 'Harry told [his uncle] he was a coward not to say it to his face. Harry got the better of Andrew by all accounts, leaving him with a bloody nose before the fight was broken up,' the author continued. Steve Parsons -Prince Andrew allegedly told Harry that his marriage to Meghan Markle would 'not last more than a month.' The Duke of York allegedly 'accused Meghan of being an opportunist and thought she was too old for Harry, adding that his nephew was making the biggest mistake ever.' According to The Guardian, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement on Saturday: 'I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.' The royal couple have also sent a legal letter to the Daily Mail over the publication of the excerpt, for its 'gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks.'

Brad Pitt achieves record-breaking box office career milestone

Brad Pitt's latest movie, F1, has sped past all of the other movies in the actor's acclaimed filmography to set a new box office record for the Hollywood star. F1, or to be precise, F1: The Movie, has recently surpassed $545m (£410m) at the global box office, higher than what was once Pitt's biggest hit, 2013's World War Z, which achieved $540m (£407m). In addition, filmmaker Joseph Kosinski's F1 also set a record for Apple Studios as it outperformed Ridley Scott's historical epic Napoleon ($221m) and Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon ($158m), to become the company's highest-grossing theatrical release of all time. Pitt, 61, plays the role of veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to the grid after a long absence with fictional team APX GP. Among his other box office hits are Mr and Mrs Smith ($487m), Ocean's Eleven ($450m) and Once Upon a Hollywood ($377m). The Quentin Tarantino-directed Once Upon a Time... also earnt Pitt an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2020. Asides from films in which Pitt had a lead or major role, the only film he has appeared in with a bigger box office revenue than F1 is Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 2, in which Pitt appeared in a brief cameo role. The film earnt $785m (£591m) at the box office in 2018. F1, of which seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is an executive producer, was released in June to mixed reviews. In a two-star review The Independent's Clarisse Loughrey wrote: 'For a film both produced by and starring (in a brief but pivotal role) Hamilton, and otherwise happily populated by a real who's who of the current F1 scene, Ehren Kruger's script sidelines much of the real skill involved here, all those split-second decisions of when to pit and when to overtake. 'Instead, we're called on to root for Pitt's washed-up veteran Sonny Hayes, an obnoxiously skewed take on Tom Cruise's Maverick who treats the track like his own personal Ben-Hur chariot race.' Despite its impressive box office takings, F1 is still way off the top of the leaderboard when it comes to the biggest films of 2025. Disney's Lilo & Stitch ($1bn/£753m) and Warner Bros A Minecraft Movie ($955m/£719m) both lead the way in Hollywood, with Jurassic World: Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, trailing just behind after earning an impressive $766m (£577m). These, though, pale in comparison to the Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2, which has earnt $1.8bn (£1.3bn) worldwide. The majority of its box-office revenue has come from China, although it was also released internationally. An English-language version of the film is now in production, featuring voice work from Michelle Yeoh.

Watch Sabrina Carpenter Perform ‘Hungry Like the Wolf' With Duran Duran at BST Hyde Park

Sabrina Carpenter performed two back-to-back nights at BST Hyde Park in London this weekend and at tonight's show, she brought out surprise guests Duran Duran. Before her guests joined her onstage on Sunday, she had the audience literally howling at the moon. After the crowd practiced their howls, Carpenter said, 'I also thought it might be fun if I brought out some friends of mine from the U.K. I'm going to need you guys to put that howling to good use. But everybody please give it up and make so much noise for the legendary Duran Duran.' Le Bon and Taylor took the reins while Carpenter sang harmonies, and she later led the second verse before everyone had the chance to summon their best wolf howls toward the end of the song. Carpenter is set to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago on Aug. 3 before she drops her new album, Man's Best Friend, on Aug. 29. It's the follow-up to 2024's Short n' Sweet, the album on which she's still currently touring. The second leg of her North American tour runs through November. In her July-August cover story for Rolling Stone, she explained why she didn't want to wait long between album cycles. 'If I really wanted to, I could have stretched out Short n' Sweet much, much longer,' she said. 'But I'm at that point in my life where I'm like, 'Wait a second, there's no rules.' If I'm inspired to write and make something new, I would rather do that. Why would I wait three years just for the sake of waiting three years? It's all about what feels right. I'm learning to listen to that a lot more, instead of what is perceived as the right or wrong move.'
