Chelsea, Man Utd Get Boost After PSG Make Stunning Decision on Star Player

PSG are facing growing uncertainty at goalkeeper, with Lucas Chevalier emerging as a possible long-term solution. Gianluigi Donnarumma is still under contract through 2026, but talks about extending his deal have stalled, and no new agreement seems near. Meanwhile, Manchester United are considering their options in goal, and Donnarumma is reportedly one of the candidates. According to a previous report from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Donnarumma remains at PSG, but his agents are exploring potential moves. Manchester United, Manchester City, Galatasaray, and several Saudi clubs have all expressed interest. For now, Donnarumma is committed to PSG and isn't pushing for a transfer—unless the right opportunity arises. Internally, he could still compete with Chevalier for the starting spot, with Luis Enrique expected to make the final decision, Hawkins adds. PSG are ready to end the Gianluigi Donnarumma eraOn Friday, RMC Sport reported that Donnarumma was informed by his management of Chevalier's upcoming arrival. Moreover, the Chevalier case, a priority for PSG's management, is progressing well, per the report. Negotiations with Lille have accelerated in recent days, with both parties agreeing to the idea of a transfer this summer. A five-year contract is already on the table for the French goalkeeper. PSG continue to discuss with Lille a deal around €40 million excluding bonuses. Furthermore, confidence is high on both sides regarding the feasibility of the transfer. Now clearly informed about the situation surrounding the reported arrival of Chevalier, Donnarumma knows what to expect. He has two choices: leave this summer — which PSG would welcome — or stay, which could lead to some tensions this season. In Luis Enrique's mind, Chevalier is expected to become PSG's number one goalkeeper upon his arrival. But if Donnarumma decides to stay, he will not be sidelined, given his history, performance last season, and what he represents in the locker room. This could therefore create some uncertainty in a more strategic position. Recently, journalist Duncan Castles reported that Chevalier is set to be PSG's starting goalkeeper. The Parisians want Gianluigi Donnarumma to leave this summer after the Italy international declined a contract extension, with interest coming from Inter Milan, Manchester United, and Chelsea.

Prosecutors ask for 2.5-year prison sentence for Raul Asencio over alleged sharing of minor sex tape

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Spain has called for a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Raul Asencio over the alleged sharing of a sex tape involving a minor. The Prosecutor's Office alleged in a summary provided to The Athletic that two former Real Madrid youth players had consensual sexual intercourse with a minor and another girl and recorded images without their consent. Advertisement Asencio is alleged to have asked for these videos, having not engaged in the intercourse, and showed them to another friend, which would constitute two crimes against privacy, per Article 77 of the Spanish Criminal Code. The summary also alleged that the alleged victims were both suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the events and called for Asencio to pay €5,000 to each of them. The Prosecutor's Office has also called for prison sentences for three other men. The Athletic first reported in May that Asencio could face criminal proceedings for the alleged sharing of the sex tape involving a minor. Asencio, who was regularly involved in the first-team at the Bernabeu last season, is one of four former Madrid youth players facing potential charges in the case. The case relates to an alleged incident at a beach club in the south of Gran Canaria in 2023. The three other players (Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez, and Andres Garcia) were arrested in September 2023. After Asencio was called to give testimony as a witness, he then became part of the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard, Spanish law enforcement) investigation. At that point, the club said 'a Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players' had made statements to the Guardia Civil 'relating to a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp'. 'When the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, we will take the appropriate measures,' it added. The Athletic reported in February that a Spanish court rejected an appeal on behalf of Asencio for the provisional dismissal of the case. Court documents during that appeal confirmed that one of the women was under the age of 16 when the alleged incident took place. When contacted by The Athletic on Friday evening, Asencio's representatives said they were trusting justice would prevail. Real Madrid declined to comment when asked. Advertisement In May, Asencio made a statement in response to an erroneous court document, which was later corrected to state he faced a single charge of allegedly sharing a sex tape involving a minor. It read: 'I have not participated in any behaviour that violated the sexual freedom of any woman, much less of minors. 'The court order, as far as I am concerned, limits its content to the possible momentary viewing of some images by a third party, without attributing to me any participation in their recording or dissemination. 'The accusation made against me, as expressly stated in the court decision itself, is strictly provisional in nature. Therefore, the presumption of innocence must continue to prevail. In the event that charges are finally brought and an oral trial is opened, I will continue to exercise my defence before the Courts and Tribunals, in which I maintain full confidence, reaffirming that I am not involved in any criminal conduct.' Asencio was targeted with abusive chants on occasion during the 2024-25 season, and former Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said in February he would not consider dropping the defender to protect him from the chants. He had a breakthrough season at Madrid in 2024-25 after long-term injuries to fellow defenders Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal, and he made 41 first-team appearances since his debut in November. Asencio received his first call-up to the Spain senior side in March, and in June, The Athletic reported he had extended his contract at Madrid through to 2031. Madrid increased his salary and included a €1billion release clause as part of the renewal. Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia all left Madrid last summer. Ruiz moved to Girona, and the club's sporting director, Quique Carcel, said in November, 'I respect the presumption of innocence,' in relation to the investigation. Rodriguez and Garcia joined teams in Spain's third tier (Tarazona and Alcorcon).
