Chelsea, Man Utd Get Boost After PSG Make Stunning Decision on Star Player

Yahoo3 days ago
PSG are facing growing uncertainty at goalkeeper, with Lucas Chevalier emerging as a possible long-term solution. Gianluigi Donnarumma is still under contract through 2026, but talks about extending his deal have stalled, and no new agreement seems near.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are considering their options in goal, and Donnarumma is reportedly one of the candidates.
According to a previous report from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Donnarumma remains at PSG, but his agents are exploring potential moves. Manchester United, Manchester City, Galatasaray, and several Saudi clubs have all expressed interest.
For now, Donnarumma is committed to PSG and isn't pushing for a transfer—unless the right opportunity arises. Internally, he could still compete with Chevalier for the starting spot, with Luis Enrique expected to make the final decision, Hawkins adds.
PSG are ready to end the Gianluigi Donnarumma eraOn Friday, RMC Sport reported that Donnarumma was informed by his management of Chevalier's upcoming arrival. Moreover, the Chevalier case, a priority for PSG's management, is progressing well, per the report.
Negotiations with Lille have accelerated in recent days, with both parties agreeing to the idea of a transfer this summer. A five-year contract is already on the table for the French goalkeeper. PSG continue to discuss with Lille a deal around €40 million excluding bonuses. Furthermore, confidence is high on both sides regarding the feasibility of the transfer.
Now clearly informed about the situation surrounding the reported arrival of Chevalier, Donnarumma knows what to expect. He has two choices: leave this summer — which PSG would welcome — or stay, which could lead to some tensions this season.
In Luis Enrique's mind, Chevalier is expected to become PSG's number one goalkeeper upon his arrival. But if Donnarumma decides to stay, he will not be sidelined, given his history, performance last season, and what he represents in the locker room. This could therefore create some uncertainty in a more strategic position.
Recently, journalist Duncan Castles reported that Chevalier is set to be PSG's starting goalkeeper. The Parisians want Gianluigi Donnarumma to leave this summer after the Italy international declined a contract extension, with interest coming from Inter Milan, Manchester United, and Chelsea.

Browns K Dustin Hopkins looking to rebound in 2025 season

Browns K Dustin Hopkins looking to rebound in 2025 season originally appeared on The Sporting News During the 2022 (L.A. Chargers) and 2023 (Cleveland Browns) seasons, Dustin Hopkins was nearly perfect with a make percentage over 90%. During the 2023 Browns season, Hopkins made 8 of 10 on kicks over 50 yards and became a lethal weapon. Then during the 2024 offseason, he signed a three-year extension worth $15.9 million, and it all went downhill. Last year, Hopkins only made 66.7% of his kicks, which included only four of eight from 50-plus and three missed extra points. Even though last season there were talks about cutting him, he appears to be getting back to form as he kicked a game-winner in practice on Monday. We don't usually hear a ton on kickers out of camp, but seeing him get confidence early should only help his season get off to a better start than last year. Hopkins will be dealing with a short fuse by fans, and a few costly kicks missed at the beginning of the season could easily cost him his job.

Mike Vrabel responds to Terry McLaurin and Micah Parsons buzz

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel would not comment on the team potentially pursuing Washington Commanders All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin or Dallas Cowboys All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons recently requested a trade after failing to agree on a contract extension with the Cowboys. McLaurin, who failed to agree on an extension with the Commanders, also voiced his desire to be traded. The Patriots still have major needs at edge rusher and wide receiver. Whether it's McLaurin or Parsons, one would think they'd be interested in the possibility of filling either one of those two positions with one of the best players in the game. Parsons is coming off a 2024 campaign that saw him tally 43 combined tackles, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles. Meanwhile, McLaurin hauled in 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. 'I'm not going to comment on players that are under contract on other teams. Let's focus on the ones that are here that we're working with," said Vrabel. Both players would significantly upgrade either side of the ball for the Patriots. One has to wonder how real the possibility of a trade is at the moment. The Commanders are set to visit Gillette Stadium this week for a joint practice on Wednesday and a preseason game on Friday. It could create a real opportunity for the Patriots to check in on McLaurin. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook. Gavi scores twice in 5-0 Barcelona drubbing of Daegu

Gavi scores twice in 5-0 Barcelona drubbing of Daegu originally appeared on The Sporting News Barcelona sent a clear message with its 5-0 victory over Daegu FC, one that emphasizes the club's crucial youth contributions en route to defending the La Liga crown. With fireworks exploding at kickoff, both Barca and Daegu took the field, though the latter wasted little time in registering the contest's first threatening attempt. Starting at centerback, Gerard Martin was caught out for a Daegu breakaway in the 2nd minute, but FCB goalkeeper Joan Garcia was up to the task with a clever kick to deflect the effort. Throughout the first half, Lamine Yamal continued his superb form as he caused a wealth of problems for the Daegu defense. And while Yamal did not find the scoresheet, the 18-year old Spanish winger showcased adept passing, trivela through ball included, as he found space on the edge with regularity thanks in no small part to his suddenness and technical on-ball skills. Days after drawing praise from Barca manager Hansi Flick, Gavi opened up the scoring midway through the first half. In the 21st minute, Gavi caught the Daegu keeper leaning the wrong way and fired a hard shot into the net from outside the box for a 1-0 Barcelona lead. Later in the half, Gavi sped up to receive a through ball from Jules Kounde then chipped the ball over the keeper in stoppage time to give Barca a resounding 3-0 lead at the break. In between those two goals, Robert Lewandowski poked home a clean goal from Martin's cross in the 27th minute. At the break, Barcelona switched up its lineup as expected in order to give each senior player a fair distribution of minutes throughout the pre-season. As such, new arrival loanee Marcus Rashford was positioned at the top of the formation to smooth over a few lineup difficulties, and the Englishmen delivered slick buildup play that ultimately led to a Toni Fernandez goal in the 55th minute. Shortly thereafter, Rashford firmly announced his arrival as he slammed a one-time shot into the back of the net, giving Barcelona a 5-0 lead for his first goal with Spanish side. After the match, Flick offered a reserved evaluation of Barca's pre-season tour across Asia. 'For us, the most important thing is that we've been able to train well,' Flick told the press. 'We saw what we wanted to see. These have been good tests.' Barcelona will next take the pitch on Aug. 10 against Como.
