Coronation Street, Emmerdale and EastEnders pulled in major TV schedule shake up
Soap fans are in for a frustrating few days as a major schedule shake-up means Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale have all been pulled from screens tonight and tomorrow.
Thursday evenings usually feature a full hour of Emmerdale and a visit to Albert Square via EastEnders, but neither will air tonight (Thursday, July 3). And Coronation Street viewers are in for disappointment too, as Friday's episode (July 4) has also been bumped from the schedule, Mirror reports.
It's all down to the BBC and ITV's blanket sports coverage, with Wimbledon taking centre stage this week.
The tennis tournament has dominated BBC programming, joined by live coverage of the Women's Euros, as football teams across Europe fight to make it through the group stages.
ITV, too, has made space for the beautiful game. On Friday night, they'll be broadcasting the clash between Germany and Poland, following Portugal's meeting with Spain tomorrow, leaving Corrie fans with an extended wait for their next trip to Weatherfield.
While EastEnders devotees had a double helping earlier this week, with hour-long specials on both Monday and Tuesday, those tuning in live had to head over to BBC Two, with others opting to stream the soap on iPlayer.
There's some good news for fans of the Walford drama: when it returns next Wednesday, another double bill awaits. Emmerdale will be back a day earlier, returning to screens at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 8.
But Corrie fans will need to wait until Wednesday for the next dose of drama, with its usual Monday slot also falling victim to the Euros.
Despite the disruption, ITV has softened the blow with a major digital update.
From Monday, June 30, full episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been available to stream on YouTube from 6am, hours before their TV debut on ITVX and traditional broadcast.
Announcing the move on Instagram, the official Coronation Street account posted: 'Soap fans, rejoice! Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am, the same day they air on TV!'
The update was paired with a graphic showing characters from both soaps beaming beneath their iconic show logos.

Looking ahead, even bigger changes are on the horizon. From 2026, ITV will launch a new soap power hour, with half hour episodes of Emmerdale airing at 8pm followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
To mark the change, a one-off crossover special will air in January 2026, bringing characters from both shows together in a dramatic hour-long episode.
Producers have promised 'everlasting consequences for everyone involved' and teased that the two fictional universes in Yorkshire and Manchester have been linked in an 'ingenious way'.
So while the soaps may be missing from the evening line-up, fans still have a way to keep up, just not in the usual way.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor wants to ‘flip the script' regarding ageing and pop music
Pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor said she wanted to 'flip the script' regarding ageing and pop music with her new album title, Perimenopop. Speaking on Friday's Good Morning Britain on ITV, the 46-year-old said she used to feel that she might not be able to continue in the pop music genre as she got older. Advertisement Asked about where the idea for the title of her upcoming album Perimenopop, a play on the words perimenopause and pop, came from, she said: 'I can't think. 'It might be to do with the fact I'm in my mid-40s, but my girlfriends and I, we felt like all the algorithms have shifted towards what this chapter of our lives would bring and I find myself feeling really good in myself actually. 'I'm enjoying life, I'm surrounded by lovely people. 'I love what I do and I poured a lot of that joy and celebration of years of experience of what I do, I'm so proud of it actually, so I was like, flip the script, Perimenopop here we come.' Pre-order now via the link below 🥳 I'm throwing a special launch show at KoKo to celebrate - pre-order before next Tuesday 13th May for pre-sale access 💃 — Sophie Ellis-Bextor (@SophieEB) May 9, 2025 She continued: 'When I was younger, I felt like pop maybe would be something I'd do when I was younger, because it wouldn't be something I could expect to still do when I got older. 'I actually think a lot of my kids' generation don't care what age you are, they just want to have good music, but also, there's so much fun to be found in this chapter of my life and I love the fact that the years have piled up. 'I'm actually super into it. I like it.' Ellis-Bextor, who currently presents a weekly show on BBC Radio 2, began her career in 1996 and has gone on to have six UK top 10 singles and five UK top 10 albums. Perimenopop is due to be released on September 12th.

Man bought £1,500 container filled with £60,000 worth of Pokémon merch
A man who took a gamble on a storage unit found it was filled with thousands of pounds worth of Pokémon merch and retro gaming consoles. The 39-year-old man behind the YouTube Channel, Wades Venture, snapped up the 10ft by 20ft container in an online auction. To his delight, it was stuffed with old PlayStations, Xboxes and Nintendo 64s, as well as other retro gaming consoles he valued at £60,000 – 30 times the £2,000 he paid to unlock the unit. He also found a treasure trove of around 1,000 Pokémon cards, organised in a thick binder and stored immaculately in cardboard boxes. 'They're from the 1990s,' he said. 'So these are the old ones, the desirable Pokémon cards.' He added that the collector must not have played with them as they were in near-perfect condition, with some kept pristine in the original packaging. The YouTuber makes a living documenting and reselling his findings in abandoned storage units and has gained almost 200,000 Channel subscribers. While thumbing through stacks of the rare cards, Wade said: 'I've been doing this ten years. I find these 1990 cards. But I've never found any that old and in this good condition.' He said he even washed his hands prior to handling them to preserve their near-flawless condition. Wade has started selling the items and has already flogged some of the Pokémon cards, earning $6,000 – or around £4,400. After purchasing the unit for $2,000 – the equivalent of around £1,500 – he has already made a profit of close to £3,000. More Trending Wade also uncovered boxes of Nintendo DS consoles, Game Boys, PlayStations, an Atari game console and controllers hand-labelled with their model numbers, as well as countless retro games – with some sealed in their original plastic. While digging through the stacks of gaming consoles, he said to viewers: 'Who'd have thought? This is crazy. 'Maybe we should play some Mario.' Aideen McQueen Brings Hilarious New Play ‘Waiting for Texto' to Edinburgh Fringe

Written by McQueen in collaboration with her sister Aoife Darmody—and, as she jokes, her mother, a woman she met in a Liverpool nightclub toilet in 2016, and every woman they've ever known—Waiting for Texto is a comic exploration of a universal modern experience: waiting for a reply to a WhatsApp message. 'If men are such visual creatures, why can't they see my texts?' asks Lucy, the central character played by McQueen herself, as she dives headlong into a tangle of co-dependence, loneliness, and emoji-laden desperation. It's Bridget Jones meets Baby Reindeer, full of real-time texting, social media spirals, and heartbreak wrapped in razor-sharp humour. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad McQueen, already recognised as one of Irish comedy's rising stars, has crafted a story packed with laughs and laced with heartfelt pathos. Lucy's journey through digital romance becomes increasingly chaotic, including a doomed entanglement with a man 'who seems barely alive.' In a world of hyper-connectivity, Lucy finds herself feeling more isolated than ever—an experience many will find all too familiar. (c) STEVE ULLATHORNE Aideen McQueen is no stranger to the comedy scene. A regular on RTE, TG4 and BBC Northern Ireland, and with credits on BBC Radio 4, she's performed at top festivals including The Vodafone Comedy Festival, The Electric Picnic, and the Prague Comedy Festival. She's also shared the stage with comedy heavyweights like Dylan Moran, Frankie Boyle, and Ardal O'Hanlon. Described as 'sassy, sexy, saucy and side-splittingly funny,' McQueen brings her signature spontaneity (the 'losing-my-keys' kind, not the kitesurfing kind) to this unmissable one-woman show. 'Waiting For Texto' will be at the Gilded Balloon Patter House Nip at 2.20pm for the entire fringe for tickets go to
