Centre sanctions creation of one more India Reserve Battalion of TSR: Tripura CM
The decision has been taken based on Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha's proposal placed before Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his meeting in Delhi.
Announcing the decision, CM Saha wrote on Facebook, 'Big boost for Tripura! Union Ministry of Home Affairs sanctions raising of another India Reserve Battalion for Tripura State Rifles, enhancing security and generating employment opportunities. Grateful to PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.'
According to officials, the Government of India shall reimburse a one-time financial assistance of Rs50 crore for raising one IR Battalion.
The Centre will exercise the right of first call on the IR Battalion and shall have full authority to ask the State to make the Battalion available for deployment anywhere in the country, as and when required.
Meanwhile, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha completed three years as CM on Thursday.
Saha assumed charge as Chief Minister of Tripura on May 15, 2022.
CM Saha credited the people of the state for the work his government has carried out in the last three years.
'With the blessings of the Prime Minister, I assumed the responsibility of the Chief Minister on this day, 15th May 2022. Later, when the BJP came to power for the second time, I was once again entrusted with this responsibility. Today marks the completion of three years in this role,' CM Saha told ANI. (ANI)

Speaking on his visit, Abdullah said that there are three states, including Gujarat, from where the maximum number of tourists reach Jammu and Kashmir. 'Looking at the last 30-35 years, since tourism began, three states have been the primary sources of tourists to J&K: Gujarat, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. My team and I have come here for a tourism fair, to speak on behalf of J-K, hoping to see a good number of tourists from Gujarat very soon," he said. 'Over 30 hours already lost': RS deputy chairman Harivansh laments repeated adjournments

Stating that the members have had an opportunity to raise 120 starred questions, 120 zero hour submissions and 120 special mentions since the start of monsoon session, Harivansh lamented that barely 11 starred questions, 3 zero hour submissions and 17 special mentions have been taken up. 'Total time lost was 30 hours and 6 minutes. This time belongs to members and (is) not the government's business time. The mandate given by the people has not been fulfilled. It is high time for us to introspect,' he said, addressing his opposition benches. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Thursday responded to former chief minister and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar's claim that ruling allies BJP and Tipra Motha were sparring with each other to gain political mileage ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, which are likely to be held next year. 'Time will speak for itself. You have to wait for the time. So, whenever there is a problem, we resolve it. Our former CM tried to say something else… Politically, he tried his best to defame this government and claim that we are not transparent…' Tripura CM Saha said. Citing the termination of 10,323 government school teachers by the Supreme Court during the erstwhile Left Front regime, Saha said, 'So far, employment is concerned, there is transparency. We are giving these job offers transparently. They didn't have the guts.' On Wednesday, Sarkar had also said, 'The BJP aims to expand its base, and the Tipra Motha is exerting pressure tactics to force them (BJP) to depend on them. All the public disputes are because of this. This is all about bargaining power.' He added that the BJP itself created the Tipra Motha, and that it was openly admitted by Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
