Natasha Richardson's friend Andy Cohen shares thoughts on widow Liam Neeson dating Pamela Anderson

Perth Now2 days ago
Natasha Richardson's friend Andy Cohen has given her widow Liam Neeson the seal of approval after he grew close to Pamela Anderson.
Liam, 73, and his Naked Gun co-star Pamela, 58, have circled around the speculation that they are couple, insisting they simply had great "chemistry" on set.
However, should they be an item, Andy would be thrilled for Liam because the former Playboy Bunny shares similar qualities to the late Parent Trap star - who tragically died in 2009, at the age of 45, following a skiing accident in Canada.
Speaking on his SiriusXM radio show where the pair were guests, he said: 'Natasha was a dear friend of mine and I'm gonna tell you something. I and all of the friends in this circle are very much stanning whatever this is.
'As I was telling him at the premiere party, I go, 'Liam, she is an independent woman just like Tash was. She loves to cook. She has her own thing going on. She has two boys.''
Andy insists "this just works" as Pamela has been through a lot with her sex tape scandal and whirlwind marriage to ex-husband Tommy Lee - with whom she has sons Brandon, 29, and Dylan, 27 - and managed to reinvent her career.
He added: 'I mean, this just works, and you know, she is a formidable human being, Pamela Anderson. She really is. What she's been through and how she kind of reclaimed herself and redefined herself."
The Love Actually star has two sons, Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28, with late wife Natasha.
He previously confessed to being 'madly in love' with Pamela as he gushed about working with her.
He told PEOPLE: 'With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her. She's just terrific to work with. I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with.'

Liam Neeson made first move on Pamela Anderson

Liam Neeson made the first move on Pamela Anderson. The 73-year-old actor and his 58-year-old Naked Gun star are believed to have started dating after meeting on set and insiders have revealed that Liam 'has been intrigued and smitten [with Pamela] since they started filming and expressed this to her". And friends believe the pair are well matched, telling Us Weekly: "Pam and Liam are a good match because they have similar personalities and understand each other. "They balance each other really well. Liam is quiet and introspective, and Pamela brings this fun curiosity that he really enjoys.' Liam has admitted he was charmed by Pamela from the moment they first met. During a SiriusXM Town Hall event in New York City, he said: "Well, you know, we had never met before and I remember thinking: 'Wow, she is gorgeous' but she had this wonderful sense of silliness and just humanity about her. "I don't want to blow her head up, but it was like I just felt an ease with her, you know, and we discovered a silliness with each other, which was terrific, you know?" A recent report suggested they have been spending time together at Pamela's home in Canada after bonding over her love of gardening and baking. A source told 'Pam is very drawn to Liam because he is totally open to her way of thinking and living, and especially her approach to fame, which is impressive. "She has been telling friends he is smitten and does a lot of sweet things for her, like sending her flowers, and spending time with her sons and dogs.' "Pam cooks and gardens at home ... it's wholesome and appealing and very un-Hollywood and Liam loves that. He actually gets involved."

Original Naked Gun creator's swipe at reboot and star Liam Neeson: ‘Not a fresh idea'

The director and co-writer of the original The Naked Gun film has taken a brutal swipe at the reboot and its star, Liam Neeson. David Zucker, along with his brother Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams, created the 1988 spoof comedy as well as the TV show that spawned it, Police Squad, but was not invited to join the team behind the new instalment. Instead, its co-written and directed by Saturday Night Live's Akiva Schaffer and produced by Family Guy's Seth Macfarlane. 'I don't plan on seeing it because, why would I?,' Zucker, 77, told the Daily Mail recently. 'I wrote a whole script for Naked Gun 4 on spec for Paramount. I understand the studio's thinking to go with Seth Macfarlane. He's a proven commodity and Liam Neeson is a big star, but it's not a fresh idea.' Picture: Paramount Nielsen was the original Detective Frank Drebin. Picture: Paramount Zucker also claimed that Neeson was not the right fit for the beloved franchise he created. 'OJ [Simpson] … he didn't need to be funny,' he said. 'And even Leslie Nielsen doesn't need to be funny. He just had to be a B-movie actor. 'That's what we did … We didn't pretend to cast Laurence Olivier or even Al Pacino. But Liam Neeson, for example, he's like Oscar quality. I think he may have won for Schindler's List. So I mean, what's he making fun of?' According to Zucker, despite being shut out of the production, Macfarlane had eventually called him up personally. 'I had a conversation with Seth and he spent 10 minutes just telling me how he idolised Naked Gun, Airplane, Top Secret,' he said. 'How can you be mad at anybody who tells you how great you are? But it's not enough to be a fan … The guy at my dry cleaners is a big fan, but it doesn't mean he can do Naked Gun.' The new film in the beloved franchise sees Detective Frank Drebin's son, the equally bumbling Detective Frank Drebin Jr. (Neeson) caught up in a murder case, part of a broader sinister plot for mass destruction, which he must solve in order to prevent the police department from shutting down. Pamela Anderson co-stars as his love interest and investigative partner, Beth Davenport. Anderson co-stars as Beth Davenport. Picture: Paramount Just like those in the original franchise, the latest Naked Gun movie leans in to the most bonkers humour – and even co-writer Doug Mand admitted to that he was shocked they got most of the jokes over the line. 'I can't believe this movie got made,' he revealed at the UK premiere. 'You dream about writing something that's silly and fun and joyful and they're not making a lot of movies like this anymore. Every joke that's on screen [in The Naked Gun], I can't believe they shot it, and I can't believe they spent money on shooting it.' Zucker had a brutal verdict on the latest Naked Gun film. Picture: Geoff Ward. Neeson revealed to that he'd needed to be 'convinced' to go through with some of the movie's more 'outrageous' scenes. 'There were a couple of apprehensions, mainly to do with the script,' the Taken actor, 73, said. 'There were certain scenes that were too outrageous.' After voicing his concerns, however, he was eventually thoroughly 'convinced they would work' by the production team. The Naked Gun certainly shows off a whole new side of the actor, who's known for his intimidating and stoic on-screen presence. But his latest role is actually more aligned with his sense of humour, as Anderson, 58, told joking that he was inherently 'a silly little boy'. 'He's very funny. I think with most people, there are so many sides to them, and that's what makes them interesting.' She added: 'Playing it straight was very important to make this film work – we had to make sure we weren't trying to be funny. That we were in the relationship, and in the situation, and then the comedy came from the circumstances.' The Naked Gun is in cinemas from August 21. Hulk Hogan didn't meet his grandchildren prior to his death

Hulk Hogan never met his grandchildren before his death. The wrestling legend passed away aged 71 last month after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida and his son-in-law Steven Oleksy has revealed that Hulk showed "no interest" in meeting his estranged daughter Brooke's twins Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene when approached following their births in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest." Oleksy explained how he and Brooke moved from Michigan to Florida to be closer to Hulk - whose real name was Terry Bollea - as he "was getting older" and suffering with his health. He said: "She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife." Oleksy explained that the family will remain in Florida following the WWE icon's passing as the state has grown to feel like "home" for them. The ex-ice hockey star said: "We've built a beautiful life here together." Brooke, 37, posted a lengthy tribute to her father on Instagram earlier this week and used her post to "clear a few things up" regarding the pair's estrangement. The realty star wrote: "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself." Brooke - Hulk's eldest child from his marriage to first wife Linda Hogan - added: "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries…everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. (sic)" She explained how the pair's relationship ultimately collapsed due to a series of "respectful disagreements". Brooke said: "He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me."
