Kaizer Chiefs: Motaung on Velebayi and Baartman
With Cape Town Spurs relegated ABC Motsepe League, the duo could very well be free agents pending the Premier Soccer League Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) hearing. The Urban Warriors argue that the players are still contracted with the team and if a club wants their services, they should buy them.
Motaung says Kaizer Chiefs will wait for the outcome of the hearing.
'I think what's important is that we're in the business of doing things that won't interfere with other clubs, we want to follow certain procedures and that relates to any other player we're looking at,' she told the media.
'So, we're taking a very professional approach in terms of integrating and bringing the players into the team, so we will make sure we only make announcements when the time is right – so watch this space.
'But certainly, we can't be engaging on players who are still with teams or still contracted. once there are any changes we will make those announcements. There's a process; it needs to be followed, once it's done, we will make announcements.'

Orlando Pirates transfer news: New foreign striker, Lepasa out?
Orlando Pirates are reportedly on the brink of signing Zambian striker Enock Sakala Jr. during this pre-season. The Buccaneers have made 11 new signings but only one of them is a striker. Last season, the team struggled for goals and will at times, rely on Mohau Nkota and Relebohole Mofokeng for goals as their strikers were misfiring. The lanky striker, linked with Orlando Pirates, briefly played for Chippa United,d where he only netted once in six matches. Soccer Laduma reported that the Buccaneers are looking at Sakala as they look for another striker. 'He seems to have impressed during his time with the squad, but Pirates are still keeping their options open,' a source from Zambia told the publication. 'They might be looking at other strikers internationally and will go with someone who can hit the ground running – a forward who can immediately help them score goals and compete for trophies,' the source said. So far, Orlando Pirates have Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa, Boitumelo Radiopane and Yanela Mbuthuma in the strikers department. Zakhele Lepasa, who has not played for the club since the 2023/24 season, could be on his way out of the club. He didn't travel with the squad for their pre-season tour to Spain. 'No offer made': Kaizer Chiefs forced to look elsewhere for goals
Kaizer Chiefs will not be signing Bafana Bafana striker Khanyiso Mayo as he is contracted to CR Belouizdad until 2027. Amakhosi were close to signing the talented forward last year, but the Algerian side beat them to it. The player's father and Kaizer Chiefs legend Patrick Mayo revealed that he did receive a call from Amakhosi regarding his son. Mayo's agent Basia Michaels told Soccer Laduma that the striker will not be joining Kaizer Chiefs this coming season. 'Khanyisa's currently got two years left on his contract with CRB. He is currently in Algeria. He arrived on Sunday, and they started training yesterday (Monday). I have had no communication with Chiefs about Khanyisa. The only communication I had with Chiefs was communication of the past,' Michaels told Soccer Laduma . 'At this present moment, this is not a thing. Why? Because Khanyisa has a contract at CRB. He's got two years left, and he's happy to stay there. He wants to continue that journey. I've received no offers for Khanyisa because he had just signed a deal a year ago,' he added. Kaizer Chiefs have signed six players already ahead of the coming season but the club feels they need to sign another striker. So far, Flavio Silva is the only forward the club has. Zitha Kwinika confident Kaizer Chiefs are on the right track after Dutch pre-season tour
Large backing in Durban MOSES Mabhida Stadium is calling and Kaizer Chiefs players are promising to deliver. | BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika believes the team is on the right path following their preseason tour of the Netherlands. After several seasons of underachievement—particularly in the league—Amakhosi will enter the new campaign under increased scrutiny. Last season's Nedbank Cup triumph provided a much-needed silver lining, and expectations are now high for a stronger all-round showing. Chiefs have been busy in the transfer market, adding multiple reinforcements to strengthen the squad. The Netherlands tour provided head coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team the chance to integrate the new arrivals and assess combinations ahead of the season. Next on the calendar is the Toyota Cup clash against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, which will serve as a key tune-up before competitive football resumes. Kwinika, who joined the club in 2022 and recently signed a contract extension, is hopeful of increased involvement in the upcoming season, and he believes the preseason trip brought valuable lessons for the team. 'The Netherlands has been good to us, Kwinika said. 'We have learned a lot, and we are definitely going back home as better people and players.' Chiefs faced strong opposition during the tour, including a fixture against former Dutch champions FC Twente. The experience exposed the squad to a higher level of play and a different tactical approach, which the central defender believes was crucial. 'The seconds they spend on the ball are minimal and quite effective. He continued 'The level is a bit high; they understand the moments very well. In whatever they do, they understand the right time to press, when and where to press, and how to keep the ball. 'They have a different way of playing football. In our South African style, we dribble people around, but here they dribble you with the pass.' The 31-year-old continued to add that the squad steadily improved with each match on tour and ended on a high note, which will set them up nicely ahead of the new campaign. 'I think we did well because we gradually grew as a team from the first game to the last game, taking into account the rest and training sessions. I thought we did well, and the boys felt good, and confidence after here is high.' The former Stellenbosch FC defender enjoyed a strong finish to last season after initially struggling for game time under Nabi. A string of injuries to other defenders opened the door for him, and he'll be aiming to carry that form into the new campaign. Ahead of their Toyota Cup outing, Kwinika says supporters can expect to see a new and improved Chiefs team next season. 'Supporters must expect a different team next season. We are growing as a group from where we left off last season. It will be a new season, and from the preseason we were just in now, we learned a lot. 'The Toyota Cup will be where we get to be tested with our African brothers, and even with that, we will be preparing ourselves for CAF competition.
