Texas man pleads guilty to stalking WNBA star Caitlin Clark and gets 2 1/2 years in prison
Michael Lewis, of Denton, Texas, reached a deal with Marion County prosecutors in which he pleaded guilty to one felony count of stalking and one misdemeanor count of harassment. He will get credit for time served.
Lewis also was ordered to stay away from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Fever events and Indiana Pacers organization events, as well as to have no contact with Clark. He also will not be allowed internet access during his sentence.
Lewis was arrested on Jan. 12 after authorities alleged he sent hundreds of 'threats and sexually explicit messages' to Clark between Dec. 12, 2024, and Jan. 11, 2025.
Lewis, who prophesized during Monday's courtroom proceedings that the end of the world was coming, also was recommended to get mental health treatment.
The FBI tracked the IP addresses of Lewis' messages to a hotel in downtown Indianapolis as well as the Indianapolis Public Library. Indianapolis police then made a welfare check on Lewis, according to court documents, and he told officers that he was in 'an imaginary relationship' with Clark and that he came to Indianapolis on vacation.
The messages to Clark continued after the initial visit by police.
Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, has been limited to 13 games this season because of injuries and is currently sidelined with a strained right groin.

Notre Dame great Skylar Diggins continues to make WNBA history with quickest triple-double
Notre Dame great Skylar Diggins continues to make history in the WNBA, cementing her legacy within the league. After recording the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star Game history on July 19, the Seattle Storm guard hit the record books again on Monday when she recorded a triple-double in just three quarters, as the Storm defeated the Connecticut Sun 101-85. Diggins's two free throws at the end of the third quarter gave her 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 22:51 of action, the lowest minute total for a triple-double in WNBA history. She also became just the second player in Storm history to record a triple-double, joining Temeka Johnson (2014). The Fighting Irish legend is the fourth player in the league to record a triple-double this season, and it was the 46th in WNBA history. Texas OL coach says LT is locked down, but a camp battle is raging for RT
After filling in nicely when needed last year, redshirt sophomore Trevor Goosby will take over at left tackle this season on the Texas Longhorns offensive line. But Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood says the other side is still a position to be claimed. The 6-foot-7, 309-pound Goosby did a great job taking Kelvin Banks' place last year when the former Longhorn went down to an ankle injury. "We feel like he's a starter,' Sarkisian said in April. "I mean, he got thrust into the games against A&M, Georgia, Clemson. He was ready." Flood praised the redshirt sophomore's versatility in this week's media availability. "We got to a point last year where I said, 'OK, Trevor is our third tackle.' And he can play both sides. ... Trevor did a great job stepping in for us," Flood said. Left tackle is locked in with Goosby, but right tackle is another story. There are two players in a heated position battle for the key spot on the offensive line. "There's definitely going to be a camp battle," Flood said. "For sure. We've got a couple of guys that have been playing there in the spring in Andre Cojoe and Brandon Baker, who have done a really nice job. A really nice job. Both those guys have changed their bodies and improved their skill sets." Baker played in eight games during the 2024 season. Cojoe saw time in four games. Both players are sophomores. Flood says the quality of the Texas defense is a big advantage when getting the offensive side of the ball ready for the season. It's especially true in position battles. "I think one of the advantages we have is we're going to play against a really talented edge group in training camp," Flood said." So I think these guys are going to get challenged on a day to day basis." Either way, Flood is confident it will all work out. "We'll figure out in training camp how that all plays out," he said. "Both guys are going to go out and compete and we'll see how it plays out in training camp." Follow us on X/Twitter at @LonghornsWire.
