No arrests made after DoorDash driver shot in front of teen in Boston
Police said the frightening incident happened on Faneuil Street at around 11:40 p.m. Fourteen-year-old Jenny said she was standing right next to the DoorDash driver when he was shot. She said she had ordered some food from Outback Steakhouse and she and her seven-year-old sister came outside to pick up her order.
"It was super scary. He was bending over to take a picture of the food, and that's when we heard, I guess, two loud gunshots like fireworks, and he just fell to the ground, and he was holding his stomach. And he was rolling on the ground," said Jenny. "My first instinct was to just grab her [my sister]."
Police said the DoorDash driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Jenny's mother, Castillo, said she's thankful her two girls are OK.
"We couldn't sleep, my girls now they don't feel safe here," said Castillo. "They just came out of the door and who would expect anything to happen?"
On Saturday, police were seen patrolling the area. The shooting took place right across the street from a playground. The close-knit family said they're thankful no one else got hurt.
"Sad and we need to be more alert," said Castillo. "I hope the police are trying to find the people who are making our community not safe. We live in front of a park, and we want to feel safe, and we want our kids to feel safe."
Jenny said she's thankful to be alive.
"I'm super grateful. I was literally thanking God in every possible way that I am OK and my sister is OK," said Jenny. "I just want to get out that gun violence needs to stop because a lot of people not only lose their family members, their friends, people close to them. And not only does it hurt the person getting shot, it can also hurt the people around them a lot."
Police are still investigating the shooting. So far, no arrests have been made.

Incredible road trend after Aussie speed cameras switched to enforcement mode
Just a year after a new set of speed cameras were switched on to enforcement mode inside a notorious inner city tunnel, over 20,000 drivers have been caught speeding — generating almost $5 million in fines. According to Transport for NSW (TfNSW) data, analysed by the state opposition, motorists in Sydney continue to get stung by speed cameras at the Rozelle Interchange, in the city's inner west, more than at any other spot in the state. The cameras only began issuing fines last year, but since then, the westbound cameras have detected more than 21,000 speeding drivers, generating $4.6 million in fines. It's all part of a wider trend, with the state's total fine revenue hitting $414 million last financial year, marking a 25 per cent rise on the year before. The figures showed that high-earning hotspots include the NorthConnex tunnel at Normanhurst (southbound) — bringing in $4.7 million — and the WestConnex tunnel at Newtown (southbound), with speeding fines totalling $4 million. While the numbers seem eye-watering, TfNSW said there are signs of improvement. At one point, a quarter of drivers in the Rozelle Interchange were caught speeding, but now it's dropped to one in 40. The NRMA's Peter Khoury told 9News that with "traffic volumes" inevitably "going to increase" at Rozelle, revenue should be reinvested in road safety initiatives. Previously, they only detected trucks, but now, they're scanning for all vehicles, with fines and penalties in place. "Speeding contributes to around 42 per cent of road fatalities every year, and so far this year, speeding has contributed to 33 per cent of all road fatalities. More than 30 cars vandalized in Massachusetts as police search for suspect seen on video
More than 30 vehicles were vandalized in Quincy, Massachusetts over the weekend, leaving dozens of residents facing costly damage. Angela Taylor, a North Quincy resident, was returning from vacation when she learned her car had been among those targeted. "It's frustrating, considering the fact that you come back from vacation, you're expecting to relax and now you have to go and file a police report and let your insurance know and try to figure out how to remedy the damage to the car that you don't want rusting come New England winters," said Taylor. Taylor lives in a condominium complex that she said is in a safe neighborhood in North Quincy. "I think if you have a nice vehicle especially, then you're going to be far more concerned now parking your car out," she said. "And we live in a condo that's supposed to be safe and North Quincy's supposed to be safe." According to neighbors and home surveillance video, the suspect was seen walking up and down Oakridge scratching cars with a rock. The act has left residents shaken. "We want the policemen to find him right away and do something," said Vicky Zhang. Zhang said that at least seven or eight cars on her street were scratched up by the suspect. She shared Ring video with WBZ-TV that shows the suspect, dressed in all black, walking up and down the block. Taylor said this isn't the first time vandalism has occurred in the neighborhood. "30 [cars] is a lot and considering this is not the first time this has happened in the area either, I think it's increasingly frustrating because it happened around Christmas as well, my car was keyed up then too," said Taylor. The Quincy Police Department is asking anyone with information or surveillance video to contact them as the investigation continues.
