These 4 high street perfumes from H&M smell surprisingly expensive - starting from £8.99
It was actually one of my favourite fashion brands that proved me wrong: H&M. Wanting to dip my toe into some gourmand fragrances without forking out a fortune, I found Posh Pistachio. At £9.99, it wasn't a mammoth investment if I didn't like it, right? Thankfully, I need not have worried.
Now fully on board - and surprised at its brilliant quality, TBH - I did some digging. I found that H&M produces their fragrances at a manufacturer called DSM-Firmenich. Chances are that the name will mean nothing to you, but here's the thing: they employ some of the world's best 'noses' to create luxe perfumes from brands that you'll have definitely sniffed - and loved - before.
With that, I made it my mission to explore some of H&M's most loved fragrances. The results were so surprising, that they might have just changed my view on high street fragrances forever.

25 Target Beauty Products Under $20
A CeraVe gentle facial cleanser that wraps every skin type in a cloud of moisture-rich foam, so washing up feels like a mini spa treatment every time. My wallet learned the hard way that less is more when it comes to the basics. I switched from expensive cleansers to this cult favorite years ago and will never go back. It gives me the perfect balance between squeaky clean and hydrated, allowing my skin to look and feel freshly washed yet indulgently dewy. Promising review: "Love this face wash! It is so soft on my skin and cleans well. I used to use Dermalogica Ultra Calming Wash and the ingredients are very similar in this wash for a much more affordable price." — $6.49+ (available in four sizes) A tinted lip balm to ~drench~ your pout in juicy color, hydrate with fruit oils, and shield with SPF 20 — all in one swipe. Promising review: "I got this in Strawberry, Blackberry, and the clear Coconut one. These are delightful! The tastes are delicious and they give your lips a nice little flush of color and a lot of moisture. (The coconut one is clear, FYI.) Add in the 20 SPF and these are a total winner that always have a place in my makeup bag." —MACAVAPrice: $4.59 (available in five colors and flavors) A silky translucent primer that blurs pores, smooths fine lines, and locks makeup in place — so every skin tone gets a filter-like finish all day long. Promising review: "Feels like silk on your face and it makes makeup go on smoother. I love this product! —Annette CPrice: $15+ (available in three sizes) A luscious cherry-almond body lotion for delivering long-lasting hydration and a nostalgic scent you'll reach for every season. Promising review: "This has always been my favorite lotion. Love how it smells and leaves my skin feeling soft." —Caligirl73Price: $4.69+ (available in three sizes) A plumping, water-light hyaluronic acid serum that soaks thirsty skin in glass-like moisture, smoothes fine lines and blurs acne scars for a perpetually dewy glow. Promising review: "I usually use a more expensive hyaluronic acid. I ran out, and it was on backorder. I figured for around $6, I'd give this a go in the interim. Dang. This stuff is nice!! I've tried a lot of these serums and have struggled to find ones I like. They're usually sticky, expensive, don't spread well, etc. This one is a little sticky, but a little of it goes a long way, and it's super hydrating. Honestly, if my usual one wasn't already in the mail, I'd cancel it and fully convert over to this one. I probably will after the bottle of the more expensive stuff runs out." —AshleyPrice: $5.99 A smoothing argan-oil shampoo for taming frizz on every hair texture and adding glossy shine, so even humid days can't ruin your look. I have very thick, unruly hair that makes "everything showers" feel like a marathon of tangles, frizz, and extra styling time, but this shampoo tackles all of that. Its argan-oil infusion penetrates coarse strands to deliver deep moisture without weighing them down, smooths cuticles to resist humidity and flyaways, and adds just enough silky slip so combs glide through knots in review: "After trying tons of shampoos and conditioners both expensive and cheap, this is the only one my hair has liked. Leaves my hair so silky, soft and shiny." —KarenPrice: $6.99+ (available in two sizes) A weightless water-gel moisturizer to plunge your skin into a sea of hyaluronic hydration, leaving cheeks as plump and bouncy as freshly misted petals. Promising review: "When I saw this on TikTok, I was skeptical because, to me, Ponds was something my grandmother used, but I decided to give it a shot. I've been spending $75 on a department store brand and this is supposed to be an identical alternative. Verdict: I can't tell the difference! The gel feels moisturizing going on but dries so it's not greasy or slippery when I apply makeup. LOVE!" —KimDPrice: $9.99 A multitasking cuticle oil for banishing hangnails, powering up brittle tips, and giving fingers and toes runway-worthy shine. Promising review: "Absolutely revived my natural nails. I've had a lot of problems in the past with my nails splitting and breaking. After using this oil my nails have become a lot healthier and don't break nearly as much as before." —RowerPrice: $13.99 A buildable foundation for locking in a fresh, airbrushed finish for 24 hours. It shields with SPF 25, and melts seamlessly into every skin shade. Promising review: 'Absolutely love this product. It beats out previous foundations I've tried—my deeper brown shade matches perfectly, never looks ashy, and lasts through sweat and humidity!' —DebSDPrice: $13.99 (available in 30+ shades) A tropical coconut-milk serum to snack on split ends, fortify strands against breakage, and turn every wash day into a beach-y hair retreat. Promising review: "This product has a long-lasting smell (which is a great coconut smell) and leaves my hair soft and moisturized! My hair is much shinier, softer, stronger, and hydrated. My hair is straight-wavy and I love it. It's also super affordable compared to other products!! This is a yes!" —lillyPrice: $7.99 A pack of cooling towelettes that *literally* melt away makeup, SPF, and grime in one swipe — no rinsing required. These are my ~don't feel like doing a legit face wash routine but need to go to bed without feeling gross~ go-to. Promising review: "Neutrogena face wipes are great for gently removing eye makeup. I also like how cool and smooth they feel in your face as a 'wake up' in the morning." —RozziPrice: $1.99+ (available in three sizes) A plant-powered brow gel to smooth your brows, build natural pigment, and lock your look in place without any flaking. Promising review: "This is so amazing! I'm not a makeup person but I highly recommend! It goes on thick, and it matches my light brown eyebrows perfectly." —TyPrice: $17 (available in five shades) An alcohol-free, unscented facial toner that feels like a tall drink of water for tired skin — reviewers swear it calms redness, refines pores, and locks in just the right amount of moisture so your complexion looks smooth, balanced, and ~totally~ primed to glow. Promising review: "This toner has been a game-changer for my skincare routine! I love that it's gentle on my skin yet still effectively removes impurities and balances my complexion. Since it's alcohol-free, it doesn't dry out my skin or cause any irritation, which is a big plus. The unscented formula is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin or those who prefer a more neutral experience. I've noticed my skin feels smoother, hydrated, and refreshed after each use. This toner has quickly become a staple in my daily skincare regimen, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a gentle, non-drying toner." —A complete set Price: $11.99 (also available in rose petal, lavender, and cucumber scents) An SPF 30, jojoba-oil–infused sunscreen made for melanin-rich skin — reviewers rave it melts in without a trace, locks in moisture, and delivers broad-spectrum protection so you stay hydrated, glowing, and totally white-cast–free. Promising review: "Amazing!! New staple in my skincare regimen. I added sunscreen to my regimen for a few reasons. I added a new product to help with a few stubborn acne scars and some eczema scars (a sunscreen is needed with that). I also have dry sensitive skin, but winter has been kicking my skin's butt this year. By itself, it is very moisturizing without being greasy. It gives cheeks a soft, *dewy flush* on every skin type — dry, oily, or combo — without creasing or fading. Promising review: "It looks amazing! If you want a blush that adds a subtle glow to your face without doing the most, then this is perfect. I'm brown-skin and this makes my face look sun-kissed." —greatPrice: $7 (available in 12 shades) A do-it-all face-and-eye kit that throws shadows, blush, bronzer, and a glow-getting highlighter into one palm-sized palette — strobe your favorite angles on any skin tone. Love this shave oil!" —LPPrice: $7.99 A backstage-level root cover spray that banishes grays in three seconds, blends like a pro, and stays put until your next shampoo — no smudging or sticky residue. Promising review: "This gets the job done between salon visits! My only suggestion is placing a comb on your hair part when you spray so it doesn't get on your scalp." —KarltonPrice: $10.99 (available in nine shades)

These 4 high street perfumes from H&M smell surprisingly expensive - starting from £8.99
Ok, I'll say it: I am a fragrance snob. It's the only area of my beauty routine I've ever been a bit snooty about. Good skincare on the high street isn't exactly in short supply (Byoma, CeraVe, The INKEY List… ILY), and makeup is only getting better too (if you haven't tried E.l.f's new blush tints yet, do). Don't get me wrong, there are some delicious perfumes sitting in the middle ground - take Cosmo favourite Floral Street, for example - but I just didn't think high street perfume had caught up yet.
