The Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat are facing off in Game 2 of the one versus eight matchup in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST.
Entering the game, the Cavaliers are completely healthy, but the Heat have a decent number of players on the injury report. Of those players, most are available, but two specifically are out.

Veteran Kevin Love is out due to personal reasons, while Terry Rozier is out with a left ankle sprain.
Neither played in Game 1 of the series, and during the regular season, both had minimal production.
Rozier finished the regular season with a stat line of 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 64 games, which he only started 23 of.
Love at 36 years old finished the season with 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and one assist per game in 23 games, which he started nine of.
Evan Mobley #4 of the Cleveland Cavaliers celebrates after scoring over Bam Adebayo #13 of the Miami Heat during the first quarter of game one of the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

However, Davion Mitchell picked up a good amount of the point guard slack, finishing Game 1 with 18 points, four rebounds, and nine assists.
While the Heat need all the help they can get to take down the 64-18 Cavaliers, at least they have enough depth to overcome a few small injuries to role players.
It is uncertain when either player will return. Rozier was originally listed as questionable, which could mean he will return soon, but he may not get the chance to return if the Cavaliers go on to sweep the series, a possibility after a dominant Game 1 victory.
It is also unclear when Love will return. He has been out since March, and it is unknown when his personal reasons for being out will clear up.
On the injury report, the Heat also has Alec Burks, Haywood Highsmith, Nikola Jovic, Pelle Larsson, and Duncan Robinson listed with injuries, but all are available.
While it was unlikely the Heat would win the series anyway, it is certainly unfortunate for them that there is a huge discrepancy in health between the two teams.

Beyond the Cavaliers having everyone available, they don't even have a single player on the injury report who was at risk of missing out.
The Heat has a total of seven, emphasizing the vast difference in overall play between these two teams.
For the Heat's sake, they need to get healthy sooner rather than later if they want any chance to topple the top-seeded Cavs.

Bulls, Billy Donovan agree to contract extension: Source

Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan has inked an extension with the franchise, per a team source. Donovan will enter his sixth season at the helm, having amassed a 195-205 record since 2020. The Bulls have finished the past three seasons in the NBA's Play-In Tournament. Donovan, who will be a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame 2025 induction class, was notably pursued by the New York Knicks during their coaching search before they were ultimately turned away. Negotiations between the Bulls and Donovan reportedly preceded the Knicks' interest. Advertisement Following the 2023-24 season, Donovan's staff was shaken up, with assistants Chris Fleming and Maurice Cheeks let go. Wes Unseld Jr. and Dan Craig were later brought in. Donovan's time with the Bulls began following six seasons as head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder, which concluded in 2020, when Donovan was named the NBA co-Coach of the Year. 'It became apparent that we couldn't provide (Donovan) the information on the future direction of the team over the next several seasons to give him the level of clarity that he understandably desires at this stage of his career,' Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement after mutually parting ways with Donovan following the expiration of his contract. Now, Donovan will head a team that's made a single rotational change — trading guard Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaac Okoro — since May's ninth-place finish, which resulted in a first-round out in the Play-In Tournament. Donovan, who also coached two NCAA championship teams at Florida, is set to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in September.

Former Boston Celtics draft pick signs two-way contract with Houston Rockets

On Thursday, July 24, the Boston Celtics waived JD Davison. The Alabama product had been with the franchise for three years, winning the G League MVP in 2025. However, it hasn't taken Davison long to find a new home in the NBA, as on Saturday, July 26, he signed a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets, per the NBA's transaction logs. Davison will likely spend most of the season suiting up for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers, but will undoubtedly have his sights set on cracking Ime Udoka's rotation. Unlike his time in Boston, there could be some scope for him to earn minutes within Udoka's second unit. Outside of Fred VanVleet, Reed Sheppard and Aaron Holiday, there isn't much depth at the guard position, which could give Davion a clearer path forward. Throughout his three-year tenure with the Celtics, Davison suited up for 36 games, averaging 1.9 points and 0.9 rebounds in 5.5 minutes per contest. He will undoubtedly be hoping to showcase more of his skill set in Houston, where the team's style of play better suits what he brings to the table. Celtics fans can now continue to follow Boston's former draft pick and his development out in the Western Conference, as Davison continues to pursue an NBA career.
