At least 4 killed as Colombia hit with wave of bombings and gun attacks
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attacks, but guerillas who broke away from the once-powerful Farc rebel army are known to operate in that part of Colombia.
The attacks hit Cali – the country's third largest city – and several nearby towns, targeting police stations and other municipal buildings.
The National Police chief, Carlos Fernando Triana, told La FM radio that assailants had attacked targets with car bombs, motorcycle bombs, rifle fire and a suspected drone.
'There are two police officers dead, and a number of members of the public are also dead,' he said.
Police later said at least two civilians were among those killed, and 12 others were injured.

Woman at son's murder trial recounts finding husband's decapitated corpse
The mother of a Pennsylvania man accused of shooting and beheading his father described from the witness box on Monday that she found Michael F. Mohn's body in a first-floor bathroom. 'I believe I screamed,' Denice Mohn said through tears as Justin D. Mohn's murder trial began in a suburban Philadelphia courtroom. 'I was screaming out front. I think I dialled 911.' She testified that she had seen her husband when she had been home for lunch earlier. 'I said goodbye,' she said. 'And I said I'll see you later.' Justin Mohn, 33, is accused of killing his father and posting video of his severed head online – and calling for others to help him try to overthrow the US government. He faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, terrorism-related crimes and other offences for the January 2024 killing of his father at the Levittown home where the three lived. Denice Mohn testified that she and her husband had been offering financial support and guidance as Justin Mohn looked for a job. She described her husband's relationship with him as a 'father-son relationship'. During the first few hours of the trial, prosecutors played 911 audio calls from the night Michael Mohn was killed, with a woman screaming in the background.

Colombia police capture alleged mastermind in attack on presidential candidate Uribe
The alleged mastermind behind the shooting of a conservative Colombian senator and presidential candidate was taken into custody Saturday, almost a month after the attack, law enforcement authorities said. Advertisement Elder Jose Arteaga Hernandez, alias 'Chipi' or 'Costeno', was arrested in a neighbourhood in the northwestern part of the capital, Bogota, National Police Director Major General Carlos Fernando Triana told reporters. Authorities had previously accused him and other suspects of being near the Bogota park where Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot in broad daylight on June 7. Uribe was giving a political speech in the park when he was attacked from behind and wounded in the head, allegedly by a minor who was captured as he fled. Three other people have been arrested for taking part in the logistics and execution of the crime. The motive is still being investigated. Palestine Action designated a terror group by UK after failed legal action
A UK ban against Palestine Action has come into force, designating it as a terror group after a late-night legal bid to delay it failed. Advertisement It makes membership of, or support for, the direct action group a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The move to ban the organisation was announced after two Voyager aircraft were damaged at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on June 20, an incident claimed by Palestine Action, which police said caused around £7 million (US$9.5 million) worth of damage. In response to the ban, a group of around 20 people was set to gather and sit in front of the Gandhi statue in London's Parliament Square on Saturday afternoon, according to campaign group Defend Our Juries. They will hold signs saying: 'I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action.' Advertisement The newly proscribed group lost a late-night Court of Appeal challenge on Friday to temporarily stop it being banned, less than two hours before the move came into force at midnight.
