Karnataka BJP neta alleges Rs 1,000-crore graft in RDPR department
Revealing this to reporters here, Rajeev said corruption is rampant in the department and in many cases, funds have been released for works that have not been taken up.
In one gram panchayat in Kudachi Assembly segment in Belagavi district, irregularities to the tune of Rs 17 crore have taken place. There are 6,000 gram panchayats in the state and one could imagine the scale of corruption there.
The BJP leader alleged that in some cases, photographs of same persons have been used with different names to get funds released under various welfare schemes.
Rajeev said, 'Priyank Kharge avare (RDPR minister) what are you doing in your department? Is it happening without your approval, or what is your share in the commission?'
He said he has documents to support his allegations. A complaint has been filed with the Lokayukta office. Priyank Kharge, who often talks about international politics, should order a probe into the irregularities in his department, he said.
All-India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala frequently visited Karnataka to arrange funds for elections in Bihar, he alleged.

1,920 bottles of illicit cough syrup seized; two held
Thane: Police seized 1,920 bottles of a cough syrup containing codeine, valued at Rs 3.74 lakh, in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra and arrested two individuals, an official said on Thursday. 'Based on confidential information, we raided a premises and arrested Ashpak Mohammad Hasan Momin and Abdulraja Aliraja Siddiqui for hoarding a banned medicinal product with the intent to distribute for intoxicating purposes,' police stated in a release. The laboratory analysis of seized bottles of ONREX cough syrup confirmed that it contains Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride, both regulated substances under the NDPS Act. The seized consignment was intended for illegal distribution and abuse, police said. Codeine, a key ingredient in many prescription cough syrups, is known for its narcotic properties and is frequently misused as a recreational drug, particularly among youth. Further investigation is underway.

"Karnataka Wins..." DK Shivakumar's Jibe After Ajit Pawar's Hinjewadi Lament
New Delhi: The competition to host Information and Technology (IT) and software companies - which provide tax revenue for a state's coffers, jobs for its population, and a badge of honour for the ruling party - may have kickstarted a political row between the Karnataka and Maharashtra administrations. Last week Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the state's Finance and Planning Minister, caused a flutter by lamenting the exodus of IT companies from Pune's Hinjewadi. "We are finished..." he said, momentarily unaware he was being filmed, and criticised civic officials for failing to address problems like flooded roads, constraints on supply of electricity, lack of public infrastructure, and traffic jams and poorly maintained roads. "We are ruined... the entire IT park of Hinjewadi is moving out. It is going out of my Pune (the district assigned to his care) and out of Maharashtra... to Bengaluru and Hyderabad..." "Don't you care at all?" Mr Pawar raged, "Why do I have to come here for inspections at 6 in the morning? I don't understand. There's no alternative but to take strict action." It is only after that Mr Pawar asks the media to switch off their cameras. An irate Deputy Chief Minister - already under fire for his handling of the Manikrao Kokate incident, i.e., a party colleague caught playing rummy on his phone during the Assembly - orders officials to "immediately resolve" problems like garbage piling up and encroachment. 24 Houses, 4 Plots: Assets Worth Rs 30 Crore Seized From Karnataka Official
Bengaluru: The Lokayukta officials on Friday raided the residence of a former clerk at the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) and found unaccounted assets worth over Rs 30 crore. The officials found out that Kalakappa Nidagundi, who worked in Koppal and had a monthly salary of Rs 15,000, owned twenty-four houses, four plots, and 40 acres of farmland. Four vehicles, 350 grams of gold, and 1.5 kg of silver were also recovered during the raids. The properties were in his name, his wife's, and her brother's. Nidagundi and an ex-KRIDL engineer, ZM Chincholkar, allegedly siphoned off over Rs 72 crore by faking documents for 96 incomplete projects. Lokayukta Raids The Lokayukta sleuths have been raiding government officials accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. On Tuesday, they conducted searches at places linked to five government officials in Hassan, Chikkabalapura, Chitradurga and Bengaluru. The officers who came under Lokayukta's radar were Jayanna R, Executive Engineer, NHAI Division, Hassan; Anjaneya Murthy M Junior Englneer, Rural Drinking Water and Sanitisation Department Chikkabalapura; Dr Venkatesh, Taluk Health officer, Hiriyur, Chitradurga; N Venkatesh, Revenue Officer, BBMP Dasarahalli sub-division, Shettihalli in Bengaluru; and K Om Prakash Senior, Assistant Horticultue Director, BDA Head Office in Bengaluru. On July 23, they carried out searches in premises linked to eight officials, including an IAS officer, in a disproportionate assets case and recovered wealth worth Rs 37.42 crore. The raids were conducted at 41 locations linked to the officers posted in Bengaluru Urban, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Kalaburagi, Koppal and Kodagu districts. Among those raided was IAS officer Vasanthi Amar B V, who serves as Special Deputy Commissioner at the Railway Infrastructure Development Company, Karnataka (K-RIDE). She was also responsible for the land acquisition for the Bengaluru Sub-urban Railway Project (BSRP). During searches at five places linked to Vasanthi, officials recovered assets worth Rs 9.03 crore, including three sites, four houses, three acres of agricultural land to the tune of Rs 7.4 crore, ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh, and vehicles worth Rs 90 lakh.
