New on Paramount Plus this month — all the new shows and movies to watch

Tom's Guide2 days ago

Paramount Plus adds tons of new shows and movies every month, and this July is no different.
Leading the pack on the streaming service this month are a pair of hit original franchises back with new episodes.
"Dexter: Resurrection" continues the "Dexter" franchise, picking up mere weeks after the events of "Dexter: New Blood." But we've abandoned the small town of Iron Lake, New York, and are headed for the Big Apple in this new spin-off.
Later in the month, "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" returns for its third season. The prequel series premieres on July 17, and if you ask any "Trek" fan, they'll tell you that you don't want to miss it.
Here's everything new on Paramount Plus this month, starting with our top picks. If you need more to watch, check out these five highly-rated movies that arrived on Paramount Plus last month.
"Dexter" has been a massive hit for Paramount. The Showtime original series about the titular vigilante serial killer has spawned 10 seasons of television across three shows, including this latest spin-off.
"Dexter: Resurrection" picks up weeks after the events of "New Blood," in which Dexter (Michael C. Hall) miraculously recovered from a gunshot wound.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
But when he wakes in his hospital bed to find Miami PD Captain Angel Batista (David Zayas) waiting to bring him to justice, he ditches the small town of Iron Lake, New York, and heads for New York City to disappear — and find his missing son, Harrison (Jack Alcott).
Premieres July 11 on Paramount Plus Premium
"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" stars Anson Mount as Christopher Pike, captain of the USS Enterprise.
Now, if that name — and that ship — sound familiar, that's because they're both famously from "Star Trek: The Original Series." This series is a prequel to that groundbreaking sci-fi show, set in the decade prior.
Because it's a prequel, Captain Pike isn't the only familiar name. Spock (Ethan Peck), Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and several other characters have returned. The season 2 finale even saw the arrival of Starfleet engineer Montgomery Scott (Martin Quinn).
Season 3 will cover the third year of the Enterprise's five-year mission, marking the midpoint of the series. If you have loved "Star Trek" in the past, it's time to return to the fold for "Strange New Worlds" if you haven't already.
Premieres July 17 on Paramount Plus
I'm not a huge reality TV fan, but I make a few exceptions.
"The Traitors," of course, is one. But "The Challenge" was the first competition show I really got into.
For those who have never seen "The Challenge," the reality competition show pits dozens of competitors against each other in grueling tasks and brutal eliminations. But the show's secret sauce is the drama between competitors we see play out in the house once the day's events are over.
Lately, it's been a show more about athletic prowess than social game, which is why I've come to love "The Challenge: All Stars." This version of the show features older stars from seasons past who know your social game matters as much as your physical strength.
Because all the "All Stars" are veterans, they also bring plenty of baggage when they come to compete. In season 5, the competitors are paired with one of their historic rivals, and you'll have to tune in to see who can stand to work with each other and who still holds a grudge.

Why The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is not new tonight, June 26

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has wrapped things up for the week, as there is going to be no new episode of CBS's late night talk show on Thursday, June 26. Instead a rerun is going to air at the show's usual 11:35 pm ET/PT on CBS. The reason appears to be that Colbert and his crew are heading out on their summer break. The June 26 episode is the first of what will be 12 straight episodes of reruns for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, from June 26 to July 11. The Late Show typically takes a two-week break during the summer; for example, last year they were off from June 24-July 5. So this is just Colbert and company's usual summer hiatus; he's just getting an early start on it heading out a day earlier than usual (the show always airs reruns on Fridays). As for The Late show rerun that will be shown on June 26, it's the episode that originally aired on June 10, 2025, and features Nicole Wallace and Cyndi Lauper as guests. To watch The Late Show you need access to your local CBS station. That can come via a traditional pay-TV provider, a TV antenna, live TV streaming services (Fubo, Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV) or a Paramount Plus Premium subscription. Meanwhile, any kind of Paramount Plus subscription lets you watch any past episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on-demand. Colbert isn't the only late night host that takes breaks during the summer. Jimmy Kimmel is currently taking some time away from his late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, though he often has guest hosts fill in rather than airing reruns. This past week Diego Luna has been the man behind Kimmel's desk, with other upcoming guests hosts for the summer including Anthony Anderson, Nicole Byer, Alan Cumming, Chris Distefano, Fortune Feimster, Kumail Nanjiani and Jelly Roll. Meanwhile, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is also slated to take time off next week and air reruns on NBC. The Late Show will return with new episodes after on Monday, July 14, according to a show rep.

Trump and Paramount in ‘advanced' talks to settle '60 Minutes' suit

The lawsuit, which many legal experts have said was baseless, was viewed by some executives at Paramount, which owns CBS, as a potential hurdle to completing a multibillion-dollar sale of the company to the Hollywood studio Skydance. Advertisement Brendan Carr, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission, has said the president's lawsuit against Paramount was not linked to the FCC's review of the company's merger with Skydance. Paramount has said that the lawsuit with Trump is 'completely separate from, and unrelated to, the Skydance transaction.' Shari Redstone, Paramount's controlling shareholder, had told confidants that she favors a settlement. Redstone has said she wants to avoid a protracted legal war with the president that could cost hundreds of millions of dollars and jeopardize other divisions of Paramount that have business with the government. She has recused herself from boardroom deliberations over the case. The settlement would be the second major concession to Trump by a leading American media company. In December, ABC News paid $15 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Trump over an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., conducted by George Stephanopoulos. Paramount, Trump in ‘advanced' discussions to settle $20 billion lawsuit

A settlement appears close in President Donald Trump's lawsuit against CBS parent company Paramount, which he sued in October 2024 over a complaint about the editing of a '60 Minutes' interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The parties began mediation in April, though it had not been clear whether they were nearing a resolution to the case. Trump had filed the lawsuit for $20 billion, alleging that CBS had aided Harris's bid for president by editing an answer she gave to a question asked by correspondent Bill Whitaker about Israel in an effort to make her sound better and 'sabotage' Trump's campaign.
